Sounds like what Mike Intel did with that adventure time parody, granted that was 3D so it was way easier to mod stuff into. Even still it was a huge bethesda move by him, I guess if people like paying the restaurant and then cooking the food themselves so be it.

It's good these guys went down a path with focus, you can't please everyone. Takes balls to go SFW when you know NSFW is where most of the money is at. Hopefully their next game has the fap those of us came for.

I can understand that, loophole being exploited. Not really a bethesda move since they wanted to release the game as it was but was smacked with a lawsuit so they did the next best thing. Release the game SFW and then the "Fans" added the NSFW part. Seriously the picnic was really well done, it be a shame if they had to scrap it or modify it.
Oh well at least my lil sis can still enjoy the game.

Yeah that makes no fucking sense. It's not scummy at all. If it's a love letter to the thing you enjoyed, you would ideally be willing to adapt and not just throw away all your work. Them's Fightin Herds did that and changed designs and names to avoid the C&D and it's still clearly a love letter to MLP:FiM.

Them's Fightin' Herds did way more than just slightly recolour and slightly rename the characters, that's what they said would be scummy. TFH made completely new characters that were just homages inspired by the Mane 6, and not even all of them are a 1:1 match.

If Sneaky Kitty followed their example, it would no longer be a MLP game at all. And we don't know if they're interested in making a completely new product of their own.

Yes: Because of Hasbro and since kitty didn't seem to be motivated to rework the art from scratch to give it another shape to the characters and maybe even come up with OC names to them to make some kind of continuation to the game and maybe dodge a bullet from Hasbro.

No: Since seems kitty didn't want to maybe do a new game from scratch with copycat/traced characters that resemble to the original characters i guess?

Either way wasn't much left to do if kitty wasn't continuing on the project so GG?

had a bad feeling about the new writer back then, felt like the game would die one way or another and that nsfw wasn't what said new writer wanted to do, making scenes rarer, maybe even taking the "plot" out of it entirely. wasn't wrong in the end, new purely sfw game was made and this game is dead, only at hasbro's hands rather than a lack of support.

not gonna say that the writer ruined the game but i feel like it still was a dowgrade from what was supposed to be. not that it matters since it's gone now, rest in peace, was fun while it lasted.

maybe someone can do some sort of revival project, the art was great

you missed the best part, the characters were made by the CREATOR of MLP for them to use without hasbro having voice in the matter

Well, if it got C&D by Hasbro then nothing can be done. From now on they won't be legally allowed to make anything even resembling Hasbro products. Don't blame the creator however, the fault lies completely at Cucktreon side. Be reminded that this "platform" is moderated by neckbeards that are given free reign whenever the content of account is marked for moderation. There was a fad back in 2017-2018, where they would targed furry and fandom accounts and either suspend them indefinitely for no reason, or purposefully sent emails to companies to force C&D takedown. Fenoxo was one of many casualties of this shitty practice, even though he was the highest grossing content creator on the platform. This is presumably the same shit that happened here.
Don't support Cucktreon in any way, there are much better alternatives now.

you can use the likeness of the characters you just cant be making money off of it, if they made a patreon and didn't link or connect the game at all to it they would be in the clear, this isnt a difficult concept. Anyone can make a free mlp porn game, no one can stop you, I can do it right now, but the second I ask people to fund it then Im liable. Hasbro and patreon exercised their right under the law, no ones to blame but the team who dropped it when it stopped making money

on paper yes.

in practice no, plenty of brands (such as Nintendo) put cease and desists on free fan projects all the time, they justify it as 'protecting the brand from unwanted harm' caused by the product being associated with their brand.

legally they shouldn't be able to but they have the money to bury normal people in legal fees thus people tend not to want to fight them, because if they try to they will get dragged out until they can't afford to continue.

i remember that there wasn't leaks for this game, only got the public version uploaded here so it was always a few versions behind. 4.4 seem to be lost now, unless someone can track down an old patreon who had it or one of the devs and ask for it

kinda speak to how piracy is needed to preserve all those things that would just end up lost/forgotten otherwise

ah, the irony. when the "thief" is the only one able to restore and preserve lost relics. kind of says how important preservation of this stuff is, and how often it is overlooked when piracy is pretty much the only way to preserve certain games, ips, etc.

hell, I remember a bleach H game that was lost into the either because the creator's hard drive died.
