Hey, anybody knows how to get "FungalBond" achievement? I got myself 6 units with "FungalBond onTurnEnd" passive and placed them next to each other in battle, but i don't get achievement. Am i doing something wrong? Or there any other requirements? View attachment 4874498
Yep, you need one fungal bond person in the middle surrounded in each hex around them by 6 other fungal bond dudes, linking them like a chain doesn't grant fungal bond 6, just a bunch of fungal bond 1's.
In the image above Tilan has fungal bond 3, and so does Tala (iirc the spore mushrooms give it, but check my bullshit lol)

it's actually really easy to proc when you realize you can just have like 3 dudes and seduce a mushroom battles spirits lol

2. I loaded up a save on Freeplay i last played 9 months ago, so beats me lol.
i loaded a save from a month ago and forgot the game didn't have any sound let alone how to play it lol

compared to strive this is a lot less playable by ui alone. same with pytfall and even pytfall had sound and music even though it was full of stock assets. does the dev not even want to do that?

It is weird that it doesn't have a sound track this late in. Checking the discord Syvaron has been thinking about it from 2018, but in 2022 they said they don't know how to do sound effects and that it doesn't feel very important.
in 2023 they said they might look into music at some point maybe.
in 2024 they said maybe some simple background music.

Also the community is actually split on the issue as some people don't care and just run their own soundtrack, while others feel like its a deal breaker.
basically it comes down to do we want more titty girl content or music, and personally i'm happy just running my own soundtrack when Syvaron doesn't know what they're doing there anyway lol.

I don't find the game all that much harder to navigate than strive, like i play both with a wiki open since Strive wants me to guess my way through it's quests and conquest has those shrines with like 50 options and no clear outcomes. Strive is definitely a simpler game than PoP but they don't give as much explanation like anywhere, it's just easier to memorize the smaller games.
Also i cannot play Conquest without mods, like i'm running through Power with mods right now while i wait for the mods to catch up lol, it has a lot of interesting additions in it's SFCArics mods that conquest doesn't.

I'll counter the sound question with the following: You can put your own soundtrack whilst you play if you so wish, which might be preferable to Royalty Free Music or some AI bullshit. As for sound design and effects, searching, buying and programing all of them into such a big scope game and having it be done properly would certainly be more expensive than hiring a sound director to do it for Syvaron. After that's done, people would want to have fucking sounds and voices too, which, again, would be extremely time consuming and expensive, if done correctly.

As for comparisons. This is a tactical/strategy turn base game. Strive is a slave manager (the original, at least, haven't yet played much of the remakes and sequel). Although both have RPG elements, they are, at their core, very different games.

Like comparing Heroes of Might and Magic™ and Custom Slave.

I'm pretty sure no amount of sounding would make PoP normie-friendly.
Going balls-deep into gameplay/pictures is milking the existing fans, and since we're near the 1.0 climax, it would ruin the edging at the last moment.

Personally, I would prefer to have more text in the game. The events are mostly very small, there is little interaction between the characters, and although there are dating mechanics they are needed more as a complication in getting town characters.

I'm sure that no one, not even the developer himself can accurately describe the character of 95% of the game's characters, because the only phrases that could be heard read from them were "Hey, you're interesting and I bored, I want to join your team after quickie "

Dating on its own is still undercooked, so I see no point in overcomplicating it even more. I guess, it is possible to add content to town characters, but then dev will have to do the same for all uniques at or it would be quite unfair. I wouldn't mind to have more interaction and events based on unique characters and/or personality traits instead of same pattern every time, but that's shit ton of work from writing to coding. Not to mention the fact even roster of just unique characters consists of 80+ positions already.

Pick freeplay instead of one of the game modes with hard time limits, and beat the king up if you're not gonna do his quests, there are now no time limits.
killing the king doesn't change the final mission deadline, only freeplay keeps it at bay.

I said to pick Free play for removing the hard time limit :)
You're right though, no need to kill the king, Free play makes his quests (Optional), i forgot they changed that like 4 years ago lmao, whoopsy!

If you want to run New Game+ ad infinitum on 15/30/60 day runs you need to do the kings quests or wipe him or have the trait which makes them optional, and then do the "final" mission before your timers up, then you can hit New Game+ and continue forever so long as you continue to do the above each time, but idk why you would do that when Free Play is here.

I've been dragging my feet on trying this game out. I'm a bit unsure which game mode I should go for. As a person who really just wants to try the game out and see if it clicks, which game mode and character is recommended to start with for a beginner?

Free play is always a good choice, no day limit and you can explore the game at your leisure, you can choose when to spawn the quest portals and king quests are optional

Tell Syv that the games' complexity isn't the problem, it's the incredibly uncomfortable learning curve. Emphasis on uncomfortable instead of high because I actually don't know how high the learning curve is in this game especially since you say the game is easy once you know what you're doing.

What I mean by uncomfortable is this.
1. Your MC's skill points are tied to breeding and not leveling. It is so uncomfortable.
I need like a thousand skill points in a single tree, to get those thousand skill points you gotta get a full scale breeding farm going. To do that you pretty much need to know all of the game's inner mechanics.
And even if I know how to do that, I think I'm gonna go ascended and skip it 100% of the time just because.

It feels like, this game wants to be RPG + Pokemon, but if I want to get ANYTHING at all in the skill trees, I gotta setup a full scale ditto breeding factory complete perfect knowledge of IV breeding and Egg moves.

So it's either learn everything and do everything right from the get go or play without skill points.

Even with all your help I still don't know how to get a thousand Tanid skill points to get Hebi as a summon. All the tips you gave gives me like 2 Tanid skill points, max level on everyone is like 5, recruited or bred high max level guys must be leveled to max level before being corrupted. And all of this takes goddamn forever.

So I don't know. I still don't know wtf I'm doing and I'm waiting for your tutorial.

2. tutorial/guide is awful. None of these not even the guide on the wiki is remotely good enough.
Maybe it's me. I was a god in Civ5 but I am complete trash at Civ6 even after 100 hrs in that game. Something about that game just doesn't click with me and maybe this game's breeding stuff is the same thing as me.
ALl I really wanted was a step by step build order I could follow to get the aforementioned full scale breeding farm setup so I can finally get those skill points and it's take YOU with a VIDEO WALKTHROUGH for me to finally get anywhere.



Anyways, that's my feedback.

Dude, i feel you, the game's learning curve is basically straight up, and then a plateau that curves gently as you learn about hidden weird systems.
This doesn't bother me, but i know it bothers a fair few people, like i prefer it this way and any simplifications in the systems are in the wrong direction for me, the main issue i see is actually that there are too many shallow systems in PoP, and if Syv constrained their vision they could make the best parts of the game better, like the Dating system is cool but it feels like it could be fleshed out a lot.
Alt-Characters outside the main 4 lack unique interactions, and at this point there are so many it would be unrealistic to expect content for them from a single Dev
The in-portal building system is shallow as fuck, it's essentially building roads and teleporters to lumber spots and stone pickups.
The crafting system is probably the most complete system outside of combat and we still don't have a material shop or list of what from where in the game.
The leveling system i think is mostly fine personally, but it shouldn't require the ritual skill, like just let me get skill points by fucking, that's fine, it's a porn game, the combination of fucking and growth go well naturally here.
The town system is great, love the town system, there are dead areas that could use attention, aka anywhere that lacks a town NPC, except the market, the markets doing it's job just fine.
We still do not have quality of life multi-purchase, so some things you need an auto-clicker for to save yourself from early arthritis.
The Tut(Oriel) is fine for basics but leaves a LOT out and i feel it's pretty unnecessary, the game badly needs an internal glossary.
Magic outclasses strength too hard, it's broken and the skills need to be re-examined to bring balance if that's intended which i think it is. That being said if the intention is for skills at the upper echelons to completely break down, then it's working to intention, in D&D terms the game goes off the rails past level 12 by design, it's fun to find exploits.
Fishing is a waste of time and stamina, it needs better rewards or to be dropped.
The personality system should be expanded in it's influence and variety so that games don't feel as samey with the literal hundreds of other characters that are not the main 4, there really should be more variety for them but asking Syv to expand the game to 95 unique storylines and growing is frankly absurd, a quick and dirty solution would suit it better, not that i wouldn't love it of course, but it would be absurd, the art alone would be mind boggling.

Also no worries Anon, i haven't forgotten, i'm just swamped with work around the farm, i've given myself heat exhaustion a bunch this and last week because the balcony going around my house had rot and both termites and carpenter ants fighting for territory inside it, and while the termites have not invaded the walls the carpenter ants have not at all been so kind.
So my brothers, my uncle, and I have been tearing the structure down and hauling wood out.
We still need to dig out the area for expansion(putting in a root cellar) and remove the infestation, it can't be that bad as there's exposed wood on the inside facing the infestation areas that do not have activity, but the outside has to come off and we need to inspect for damage before the fall comes in and we have rain again until next summer, so it's a lot of work that needs doing and needs doing yesterday.
That's like job one of a 14 job list that been dropped in my lap suddenly, and while i have most of the recording, i still need to storyboard for clarity, record voice lines, edit, and then do it all again for the breeding video all in what little free time i have at the moment.
All that to say i have not forgotten, i am merely much much busier than i thought i would be when i gave you my earlier timeline lol.

I have to agree. I played through the game far more times than I care to admit, and the problem is definitely not the difficulty, but how long it takes people to reach that coveted "oooooh, so that's how it works. holy crap I feel dumb now" moment. Don't feel bad about it. It took me at least 5 tries of downloading, floundering around for a while, getting frustrated and uninstalling before I decided to bash my head against the wall until it broke. The tutorial doesn't explain much, and definitely doesn't get into the whole minutia concerning the more in-depth systems like selective breeding and genes.

What the games needs right now is not to be simplified, as I feel that would definitely make it worse, but rather a proper, thorough tutorial. As it is, I feel like the initial leaning curve (which is basically a straight line heading up) is making a lot of people bounce off the game when they can't figure out what to do after a while. I know the wiki exists, but it does very little to address this as well.

Got any tips for selective breeding and genes?
depends on girl type, with the current changes syvaron did a couple of elements are tied to a specific minmaxed build unless you use the uncapped modifier, for as much as that might seem as a bad thing it's not because you are not forced to bring a healer with you if you have minmaxed tanks and casters to aoe delete your enemies like lavataurs and seers respectively.
