Power Vacuum is good (extremely good) and free.

I don't want to sound like a hater but to me this just speaks to how low a bar the porn game community has set. This game is better than average I'll grant you that. And if we're going so far as to count all the straight up garbage and abandonware then the game gets a 4+ star rating by default. BUT it's incredibly linear without any significant player choice available. So the elitist gamer within me wants to slap a giant "not a game" label on this game.

In an ideal world where the porn game industry isn't as restricted and subject to utter shit this game would be categorized as a "crude and humorous parody visual novel with great renders and decent animations". Which is perfectly fine. Bit it is disappointing that everything else we get is so bad it makes Power Vacuum "extremely good" in comparison.

It's definitely a visual novel but I think there's more to it than the humor, renders and animations. This is one of the few games that not only has a story but one I've gotten invested in. It's really bizarre that so much effort was put into foreshadowing, set ups and twists in a game that's a porn parody/comedy.

Fair point. I should have mentioned how it is fairly well written. And again, I only say "fairly well" written because of where I perceive standards should be. If we measure the game's writing by the incredibly low bar set by a lot of games on this site then it would be considered Shakespearean in it's prose, given international awards, and taught in schools (lol). I'm just trying to point out how difficult it is to be critical of something when 80% or more of the other things in it's same category are so bad.

To use some of the dev's own crude humor for a moment: it's like watching an only somewhat-decent gymnast compete in the Special Olympics.

For this game it is not so important to have a lot of attention and excitement for the tops or some ratings... I would say this game is mostly for incest parody and many hinting values for jokes. It is also a sex comedy with a sequential story.

Perhaps next new game from WWG will quite possibly be focused on gaining attention and ratings, but this game even being KN is a very good game to enjoy

This is the same argument people use to get excited about political candidates they don't actually like but are better than the alternative. Just because something is better than bad doesn't make it good. We can be critical of standards without living in a fantasy world.

No, this game isn't Shakespeare, and it's no Airplane! or Blazing Saddles, but I find it at least as funny/entertaining as a lot of TV sitcoms (which are probably the closest comparable works).

I know it's a pipedream, but I kind of hope Power Vacuum will serve as inspiration for better games/VNs in the future, because you're right, there's far too much slop.

I know how they feel about how long its taking and that goes for a lot of games here. Its crazy that PW and lot of other games take as long as a triple A games, which take two to seven years to create and thats nuts to me, cuz of what these games are (I know its made with a lot of people and these games are usually one dev which dont mean they cant hire more people, they have the money, but the games are 100 times bigger than just a VN so you know). I just wish these devs would start taking it more seriously and start small studios to distribute workload and create better games faster.

correct me if im wrong but its not really free, you need to subscribe, unless there is a free version that i dont know about, i get everything from here. We are on a pirate website, every game is technically free if you count pirated games.

Yeah, you're right. It's a silly saying but I'm not here to "yuck someone else's yum". I just think it's kind of depressing how stagnant and uninspired the porn game genre is. Is it even possible to make a Top 100 Porn Games of All Time without dipping into some absolute garbage by the end? I guess we have censorship and shit like what Patreon does to blame for it. At least partially.

Power Vacuum is good, perhaps even great, for what it is. But despite that the game is rife with flaws and odd design choices that make no sense. Like it being pseudo-sandbox without actually being sandbox so you get a lot of pointless encounters which are best skipped (e.g. all the family meals that do nothing after the first time you see them so are best just skipped and so on). No one is saying the game is a masterpiece but, as I keep hammering on, the bar is so fucking low it basically is hailed as such.

Alternatively they could just set their sights lower instead of trying to make a complicated game with a long story all by themselves. At least for their first foray into being a developer.

That's not financially feasible for most devs. WWG is making nowhere near enough to afford a studio and employees.

We're getting into the weeds a bit here but I think there is still plenty of room for the typical solo-indy-dev passion project. It's just so many of those would-be devs in the porno-sphere end up biting off more than they can chew. IMO your first project should be the programming equivalent of "Hello world!" before moving on to something complex with interweaving plots and multiple love interests.
