I tried this thinking the scenes would probably be similar to generic VN sex scenes . I was pleasantly surprised they are nicely animated with options and I love the art style. For me it definitely stands out from other adult games and thats a good thing. I can't wait for any future scenes and I hope this game succeeds because its nice to see something unique for once.

Awesome, thanks again for the tips man! Wish there was a way to save comments, hahaha. Either way, thanks again!
Hey, I found a random picture of what it looks like when you shift the camera angle. It's not as cool since there's no sprites or anything animated, but the old SSD I had everything (last year) died when my ASUS mobo decided to power cycle the crap out of everything plugged into it. Thought you might like to see it!

Someone went insane with the whispering brooks dungeon map design. Can't imagine doing it when they remove skip combat button. Invisible doors also for some reason. I thought my game had bugged when I couldn't progress past sunken face room but no, I just didn't see the door to the south.

The designs remind me of endless legend cultists. I wonder why every girl has a habit of looking to the sides instead of looking at you.

Oh that's awesome, thanks! I know I'm not yet doing unity stuff, but shifting the camera angle is a simple thing right? Just wanna make sure for the future so whenever I get to Unity I actually know what I'm doing, lol. Thanks again man!

Hello people.

I don't want to get your hopes up (i've only tested the gallery on my pc), but i think i removed the patreon verification.

Replace the "Assembly-CSharp.dll" inside this folder -> PriceForFreedom_12_1_Windows\PriceForFreedom_Data\Managed
I love you.

Yeah it's not too bad, it should be in the Unity wiki's actually on how to lock the camera to a fixed angle. There will be a guide or two out there somewhere on controlling the player camera.

Masks seem to be a running theme in fantasy cults. Cultist Simulator, HP Lovecraft, Blasphemy, quite a few movies and books use the theme. Though we added a more narrative bit into it if you speak to Mara aboot it. Also, in that scene, she's a bit more concerned with The Favoured and that whole outcome. So she's naturally not looking at Redic.

EDIT: If you encourage her more base driving desires, she focuses more on the player.

Having seen a metric fuckton of doodle pornography in my life, I've considered Arbuz my favorite artist because their style is great. Ten out of ten. The game is pretty bland, though. So far it's suffering from a lack of actual choice in both dialogue and action. Plays more like a visual novel with better artistic direction and an unusually large minigame. The writing itself also leaves something to be desired, there's some grammatical errors that make me assume the writing was done by someone who doesn't natively speak English. Arbuz (who I assume is one person) still excels artistically and does fantastic character designs. One of the few artists that can make an obviously-furry character that doesn't cause me to retch.

tl;dr: really bad writing, really good art, where do i give him my money
Aha... well, the writer here and I am Canadian by birth so English is my primary language. We haven't gotten to final edits on anything, but this is the first "terrible writing" I've heard yet. Would you mind telling me what exactly you find so terrible about the writing? It would be helpful to the project as a whole.

Typos and such will be stamped out later down the line and some other issues like that. Word processors were just not working in google docs and I've had nearly no time to edit just yet. Everytime I go to do so, new writing tasks are needed.

Is there a way to transfer saves between game versions? I haven't played since version 10 and I want to transfer my save to version 12. Is that possible?

On a side note, LOVE the game, LOVE the art, LOVE the writing.

Howdy! Unfortunately between 10 and 12 might be too many iterations. The game auto-detects saves that are in the Price For Freedom (or Team Dead Deer?) directory in your applocal. If it's not picking them up then, unfortunately, it might not be compatible. We changed our save system to be more future-forward compatible around update 10 so you might have gotten hit by that :x.

You CAN skip through the first quests with an option though. Brings you all the way to the update 12 content. Sorry mate!

Build12.jpg

Forgot to post this up! Build 12 is out btw haha, as quite a few are already aware.

(Copy Pasting Arbuz' notes off our patreon)

It's finally here, after a few months of delay we managed to finish it. This is our biggest update so far, and should provide around 2 or 3 hours of gameplay... if you skip the fights. If do you actually fight, then pay attention bleed threshold on player party, since part of bleed damage accumulates between fights and cannot be recovered by bandages. You amend this new damage by resting at inns\campfire or eating food with injured character. Speaking of fights, they now happen in the main world, rather than their own separate instances.

On a side note, since this update was very late, we decided to give it to any former patron who donated $5+ since September, which was our original release target.

Our next update is already well underway and will feature the last recruitable companion, Osh'To. We are taking steps to prevent such a delay to happen again.

Enjoy this adventure in the meantime!

How do I split bandages between my party members? I've got a stack of 15 and I want each person to carry 5?

Ok cool... What I ended up doing was dropping the big stack of them, and then distributing new stacks in 1's and 2's to my party members. You can drag from from a container straight into the item slot, which does the trick.

A bit of realtalk for a second though... I was loving this game. The intro, escaping the bandits, the reveal, getting to town, meeting Samara, Hunting Blackfurs, then hunting more Blackfurs for a bet, then Hiho and her amulet quest, going to Whispering Brook, uncovering the mystery... It's all exactly what I want from an adventure.
And all of that got me to Level 11, with a bunch of great sex scenes and a real sense of progress... Then I entered the catacombs under the church.

Holy shit does this ever outstay its welcome!
I'm now level 27 and for the last 5 hours I've done nothing but grind on these same fucking mobs over, and over, and over. Nothing interesting happens. There's no more banter between my characters (the few question marks down here are just bits of exposition), no more sex scenes, no more mysteries, nothing of consequence. Just the same 3 or 4 enemy types in different but ultimately meaningless combinations.
The content here should be the equivalent of 2 level-ups. Maaaybe even 3 depending on the storytelling... It definitely shoudn't be 16+ levels of grind.

The wheels are really coming off this ride now... All the parts of this game that I was loving have suddenly been stripped out, and what I'm left with is a combat system that I hadn't even realised was quite so shallow.

What the hell happened? Things were going so well!

Thanks for feedback. Dungeon was an experiment to try bigger scope of questline, but it ended up overstretched, a gamedesign mistake clearly. We will be looking how to make whispering brook dungeon a bit better experience. i was considering making less combat encounters and a bit more dense writing content there. We'll see what we can do in the future.

Ok, I can see that... With that in mind I think it partially works and partially doesn't:

The size of the dungeon really gave me the sense of this being the player's first 'big' quest chain. The kid gloves have come off, and this is where things get serious... And it does have a few milestones that break up the combat grind; finding the key, finding the pastor, the pieces of the ritual and their related conversations, the layers of the dungeon, etc.

That said, those milestones just aren't as meaningful or rewarding as the ones you set up in the early game. Sex is one of your key milestone rewards, but there isn't any for HOURS. Even camping in the dungeon doesn't throw up an opportunity... After sex I think your next best milestone reward is interaction with your companions. Not necessarily sex, but the innuendo or flirting is conspicuously lacking suddenly, especially if Samara got her voyuer on back in town. Or some other conversations that aren't just one of the companions expositing on some question mark; insights into their likes and dislike, a promise to do a thing, or help with a thing, or buy a thing when possible. Basically grow their friendships... Next would be clues to the main story elements, hints about Sa'id's role, Lady Wolf's background, insights into places we've been, or will go to soon, that sort of thing... Finally rewards for thorough exploration. Parts of a codephrase for a secret hole-in-the-wall back in town for example, it could open a rare vendor or a hidden sex scene or even just a funny/interesting room with patron references. Or just something silly, like a Blackfur costume that would guarantee you win the bet, long after you've probably already won it. Basically things that link the dungeon back to the larger world and make it less self-contained.

On a related note, I'd consider doing something different with the tilesets... You go from a basement to a sewer system? Why does a little town like this have a sewer that's far larger than the town itself? It makes no sense to me, unless it's plot-relevant later? Personally I'd consideer reusing those assets for something entirely different back in Kaldea and making the lower level of the dungeon something more unique... For a cult hideout I guess something cave-like or hellish would be the standard trope, but I'd love to see you go wild with it. Something that gives me more of a "wow!" moment when I first go down below the basement layer.

Finally, there's just way to many level-ups involved. Like, 10x too much XP available. I'm still there on the sewer layer after playing for another 2 hours or so, and I've now maxed out both Samara and Hiho. There's nothing left to spend their skill points on (unless I'm missing something?). Whether you want to shrink down the levels, or thin out the mobs, or just lower their XP values is up to you. Maybe some combination?... It's just far too much power-creep (or at least it will be when some of these skills work as intended).
