I didn't know this thread exist, this is going to be a long reply. I'll omit all pleasantries and answer the technical questions.

Hope this doesn't get abandoned immediately. Looks promising.
It's been years since we started this project, we're not going anywhere. don't worry.

If only someone had thought of this idea years ago...
It's an old idea, very old, I've just choose the engine wrong the first time and started with flash, we all know what happened to that...

Why does the vendor in the last screenshot look like he's having a happy fit?
It's a placeholder for smog expression.

Sounds like a fun-sapping grind mechanic to me.
Fun have no place in our game muhahahahaaa, but I'll try to balance it, just don't leave the game open when AFK.

I've had the idea long before Akabur's game, unfortunately I was just a young guy tracing from the movie screenshots into adobe flash making shitty princess minigames for myself. Soon I've gave up and got tangled in life problems, few years later I've found renpy and decided to resurrect the old ideas.
Started learning the engine, two weeks later found out about Akabur's game, great name, great art, boring gameplay, bad story telling, but I could fix those last two, unwrapped his game, took the characters and backgrounds and made a proposal for princess trainer 2 (a continue of his game but Belle as the next subject), he politely declined and out of respect for him being the first to release one, I didn't start my own princess trainer project, plus people where willing to pay for what I could do with renpy by that point. I forgot about the whole thing.
Years later, Akabur was coasting on his successful games, sitting on the only name fitting the games I always wanted to play, wasting all that potential. OA offered to back me making any game of mine, and I decided to do the most ambitious one of my idea. My attempt for The princess trainer, the game you all deserved instead of the ones you've got.
Few years have past and people see us as an Akabur copy, well... no? maybe? it's complicated.

I love Akabur's training games, and I love that he's inspired others to make games in the same genre, but this might just be a bit too inspired by his works.
I can assure you, the similarities end in the name.

nice idea and a good skeleton of a game but a game without a functional save and load function is just not a game.
It's still in a very experimental stage of testing ideas, but you can save and load in the most recent version.
You shouldn't rely on too much saving and loading though, as you can see, we're planning to kneecap this method of pain relief and force the player suffer the consequences of their actions.

She's the first princess in the timeline, logically, we can't start with anybody else, the only princess that exists before her is Mulan and her story doesn't have a genie to zip us around the world visiting all the others.

Ah well, won't complain too much, although the artwork seems weird -- looks like traditional 2D animation next to more modern 3D stuff. Or maybe there's more than one artist and they're not coordinating things

it's not a copy, you can save and we didn't intend to release it yet. it's still in pre-alpha stage.

I'm curious about the need for this game. Didn't Princess Trainer "do it" already for the Princess Jasmine porn needers? Or Star Channel 34? Do we really need another one about the same character?
It's not about Jasmine per se, it's about the situation and what the player would do, she's just the most recognized character in the game and naturally takes the name for easy publicity.

There's not much to play yet, you just read through the intro, make some choices and wonder a world full of nothing after that. the content will be added slowly after we're done putting the fundamental game mechanisms together.

Come on at least come up with a different name for your game

You won't see any harry potter games from me, not my cup of tea. Plus, there's already a great looking game for it. I can't compete there.

there's not much to play yet but if you tell me the specific part that you have problem with, I might be able to help.

That's likely to become a very nice game, i like the art/animation, which makes real good games IMO.
There's a single drawback, compared to Akabur (oh real god of the RenPy games~) the UI is disgraceful af, i think that trying to improve this part of the game may turn it into something more attractive. (y)
I think the UI will magically turn into something more palatable as time passes. just bear with it for a while.

looks promising. I enjoyed princess trainer a lot and this could be a very good continuation. I like your Art as well, but it is also my concern cause your development will be very slow. Games with self drawn art often gets abandoned, lets hope this one wont.
It's true that development is slow, but time will remedy that. we have a team working on the art but we're paying for everything from pocket right now, and to afford it we need to spend lots of our time working on other things, leaves us less time to spend on this one. it's a tug of war and we're the rope.

starting with forcing the player to something doesn´t starts nice and gives the feeling you are making an mmo or rpg instead of a visual novel. you sure you wanna kneecap? because altering the gamemethod afterwards will anger a lot of people.

Game developers use different methods to encourage a style of playing and discourage a behavior that is not desired, limiting the number of times the player can save will discourage repeating a fight or minigame to get the best outcome instead of experiencing the game itself.
Unlike some games I've seen out there, the fights are not pre planned in this game and given enough chance you can get lucky enough to win a seemingly impossible fight. we don't want you get stuck in a perfectionism hell and move on with your wounds as long as you're alive.
And we certainly don't want you to save every step in fear of making a mistake or choose wrong. those sands of time don't come cheap either, we paid 2 Ethereum for a 40 kilo bag.

I mean as long as Aurora from Sleeping Beauty or Snowhite or Belle or Ariel don't exist in that timeline yeah, that's true. If you ignore those four then Jasmine is the first Disney princess.

Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Eilonwy, Ariel, and Belle all before Jasmine. And that's not counting younger characters like Alice or animals like Maid Marian.

That's too far in the future to decide, we're focusing on getting this one done right now.

I know but some of those are the boring ones with worlds too small to base a game on, and none of them provide us with an immortal genie that can travel through time and space. we had to

Ok, you're basically making a huge promise that not only will your game be quite different from Akabur's it will also be better. And you can bet that we'll hold you to that. However, since I'm not a patron I don't get a say in how you do things but I do have a suggestion. As someone else has pointed out, the mixed art quality presented in the game is really jarring. Maybe get an artist to make a long-time commitment to your project? Unless you're already doing that.

We value every player's opinion, patreon supporter on not, and if you try the game, you'll agree with:
I like the spin on it. Different than Akabur's for sure.
As for the art, we have a very talented artist at the head of our art team, it just takes time before all placeholders are replaced by his art. just be patient, there's lots to do and we have little time to spare.

I try to open the game on Windows 7 Ultimate, using a SVSComics version of the Download, they extract fine (i guess, i using Bandzip), then when i open, the game just close with a feedback... (Sadly in angry to wait 1h to download the game i take it off my computer) So, let's see if this one work fine... I give you guys my feedback soon as possibly...

What's your operating system? and there are direct download links on our patreon page (always free) you can download from there and give it a try.
The most recent build is 0.17
If my memories serves me right... My system is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with 2.00 RAM... Intel ... And yeah Ren'py aways work right on it... My OpenGL is 1.0 (Can't be updated), i using DirectX9/3D as well because can't use DirectX11 (without force the computer with a program that make it possible but don't using that now because i don't have it now since i needed to reset the PC a time ago...)
