I fixed it by changing the start of game/1.2.rpy from:
Python:
init python:
    import of
    user_name = os.getlogin()
to:
Python:
init python:
    import getpass
    user_name = getpass.getuser()
Then removing the game/1.2.rpyc file.
Dang Linux user really got skills

I love this game. please continue it to the fullest.

P.S: you scared the shit out of me at the end with my name. I named my character sherlock and was shocked for one second when you said my name after the to be continued part hahahahah.
I think there's something more scary this time haha

The game is good, if it is a little better quality, the renders will be great, if there is a character screen, this game will be number 10, the story is interesting, I wish you success in advance
I wish too XD
And i think i did improve the quality of the render and animation

Will you go back and fix the existing game?

I still haven't made it off the train because of the fading, bouncing and clicking. The game is too slow (*wait for sentence to fade in from right* *click* *shows half of the next sentence* *click* *subclause appears* *click* "My childhood," *click* "my everything." *click* *slowly fades in next sentence letter by letter* *click click click*). If this is meant to be read, then one click should show the full sentence/paragraph immediately. Having to click multiple times to progress a single sentence is insane.

The display for "Hometown. A word so foreign yet so intimate, gently melting in my conciousness" takes four clicks to get through. Plus the effcts are not consistsant, so trying to push your effects to my pace just causes me to miss entire sentences.

I'd say this reliance on effects does nothing for your game or presentation that can't be done with good writing. At best, slowing the text down and adding these effects can give a vibe of depression and/or apathy, but again, this can be accomplished just as easily with punctuation/grammar and good decriptions/visuals.
You're absolutely right, and I'm sorry you feel this way. I did reduce some of the effects in the later stages of the game. As for fixing it... maybe in the future. Thank you for your feedback.

This is kickass the only minor complaint I have is all the artistic flourishes in the text box, while quite nifty and visually interesting.... Are really frustrating for me as a fast reader I frequently ended up having to back up to read a line I'd inadvertantly skipped due to the flourishes not being in sync with my reading pace.
I've indeed received quite a bit of similar feedback, so I made some adjustments in version 0.3. Although, to be honest, I kind of hoped players would take their time to savor the text, haha.

OK! That's all you have to say?

Peace :(
Right, thank you for appreciating my story, writing, and visual presentation.

Regarding the issues you mentioned, such as text effects, I did adjust their usage in version 0.3, so I sincerely thank you for the feedback and didn't say too much about that.

As for the mini-game, I personally enjoy it. It’s just a simple event that, for me, reflects the protagonist’s internal struggles in an interesting way.

Up to this point in the game, there’s only one mini-game. As for your suggestion to add customizable options for players, I have to admit that’s not my area of expertise. Being a solo developer, my skill set and time are quite limited. I’m sorry that this game only earned three stars from you and isn’t something you can recommend.

Let me be clear here.

The medium we are in, that you built your Title in, while strongly based on the Visual side, is at the base a Novel. A novel is meant to be read.

If, as you did, you apply WAY too many effects on the text, it slows reading, tires the reader, and adds absolutely NOTHING to anything. You went above all limits, almost to the point of making it unreadable. It certainly isn't enjoyable. In fact it is a PITA of a thing.

Since you are being quiet about it, I presume the Mini-Games are still FORCED? I don't mind them being in the game, just give me an option to turn them off, and I'm good.

Peace :(

I can't. No. Not with forced mini-games. I detest them. I understand that you are a single developer, but this isn't that hard, just ask if we want mini-games or not. If not, jump to next scene. Simple. If you want to punish the MC because of it, I'm ok with it. I prefer that, than be forced to engage in a mini-game.

What a pity.

Peace :(

That's an interesting discussion. In fact, my definition of visual novels differs from yours, but I respect your perspective.

If a visual novel is essentially just a novel with a few accompanying visuals, then to me, it’s no different from a comic book.

In my view, VNs shouldn't be so monotonous. They can have choices, interactivity, mini-games, animations, music, and sound effects (sound effects can even convey off-screen character actions). VNs have the potential to blend various forms of expression—it can feel like a novel, a comic, or even a movie. It's a completely unique form of artistic presentation.

Dynamic text effects can also be considered a form of expression, reflecting a character's tone or uncertainty when speaking a particular line. I have to admit that in the early versions, I did go a bit overboard with these effects. However, I believe that by version 0.3, I've achieved the quality I truly wanted to present.

Of course, I understand that players accustomed to traditional AVNs may prefer the more familiar approaches. Innovation doesn't always translate to success, and I can understand your dislike. Nevertheless, as someone who has poured all my free time into this project, I prefer to develop it according to my own vision. That doesn't mean I'm unwilling to listen to player feedback, which is why I've made adjustments in each version.

For me, version 0.1 was barely passable.
Version 0.2 was just scraping by.
Version 0.3 is where I feel I’ve truly taken my first real step.

I'm doing this because I enjoy it, not to please anyone else.

I like the music selection so far but what's up with the text speed slider in settings while it serves no purpose at all? Personally I'm fast reader and having to wait around for that forced s l o w parts really kills the mood.

See, that's EXACTLY why I detest mini-games. Pointless. Busy work for no gain.

Excuse me?
Sir, you can choose whether to participate in the mini-game or not, and the game will display different storylines accordingly.

I don’t think this is pointless, because the act of choosing to participate or not is, in itself, a meaningful decision. And this choice does indeed bring changes to the narrative.

That's all.

Peace

Oh, I misinterpreted you then. Sorry about that.

So we are back to mini-games being forced content.

Well, you can't say I didn't try. If that's the hill you want to die on, it is what it is.

Peace :(
