That's a fair statement. Adding things unique to a Female MC would lock content away from the Male MC. You could make an argument to have one save file for each gender, but that shouldn't be a course in a game like this. There would also be the matter of breeding with the Male MC. A Female MC couldn't breed with monmusu or regular women, unless there was a Futa option (which could very well be an alternative) after all, breeding monmusu or women is important for raising monster stats in a timely manner, so you would have to choose between higher difficulty for more content or lower difficulty for less content.
The only thing I could think of would be to have a female MC with sex animations for both males and females by recycling the generic animations, but not allow her to get pregnant so as to not create too much of a disconnect between a Male/Female MC choice. Slap a temporary futa penis for female sex animations and remove it for the male ones. That way, you can have both a female MC with animation on a custom model, while keeping all of the practicality of the Male MC. Not sure if this is much of a solution though.

O' Come on, female MC, really? There is 0 chance they do this, because the same thought could be implemented to the last game where breeding with MC was a bonus, not a part of the gameplay, and no, they didn't implement this option, so even imagining yourself that devs make female MC version is meaningless.
Do we even need female MC in this game ? The game is already full of female unit and you start with 4 female unit , just pick one to be female MC .

Rather than a full female PC, it would be more likely that they would let certain monsters breed with Rune. I'd guess that they would be special ones, like how the Monmusu are quite rare, like some kind of enchanted or corrupted monsters that Rune would take an interest in.

Is this going to be a substantial update? I fucking looooved MBM and want this game to be the best it can be
I Believe it will be, at least 2-3 new units, also love MBM, there where no games like this before this group launched this.
Yes, the next update is said to be 0.4, and bring some global progression to the game. And also a pause button.
As flannan stated, 0.4 is bringing the pause button back, Pillories (places to set 'Slave' units) are structures you can build in the 'lanes' near the Stockades that bring benefits. Sisters can heal units when placed there. Art shows an inflated belly, which implies pregnancies can occur but might just be cum inflation. The MTL suggests that there will be more than just the Pillories added as structures, but that could be a weird translation bit or the other planned additions might not happen this update.
Also what looks like a return to sending raiding parties out for some end, but they haven't explained about the new system beyond showing a mockup of the ui.
That and we are getting Orcs and Oni (the female unit of the Orc). Orcs have a jump attack into melee so they can cross distances to engage with ranged units in melee.
Anything else will either be a surprise or added in a post on ci-en as we get closer to ver 0.4 releasing.

If there is going to be another dev post before release, it might have a more exact release date. My (imaginary) money is on the 25th. Perfect Christmas gift, imo.

Usually they bring the updates on a friday. So, end of the month and last friday in december is the 27th. For me we are in the second half already haha
But... we all know... it will still be only a fraction of the complete game. Good things take time.
I have to admit, I count myself to the "Can't Wait!"-ppl
