You know, yall should give this game some more credit. There is so much low quality shovelware out there that is here to make a quick buck, but this one puts in effort where others fail.

You cant play a game in development and expect it to be 100% ready for you to tear it apart in review.
Let the game evolve. Support it if you can.

You do realise we're talking about developers - using the word loosely - with established record of prior offences right.

"Support it if you can"

Nope.

Not going to pay a single cent.

There is literally evidence of this scam.

And you (as a game devoloper) should have known that what they are doing isn't that hard. Especially with a team. In the end of the day it is just a BEAT EM UP / SCROLLER game. They are milking and you know that too. So don't fucking sell us some optimistic bullshit about this buddy.

This here is my experience with the dev from the last page

https://f95zone.to/threads/pure-onyx-june-30-2022-eromancer.19807/post-8551840

Onyx released with 6 enemy types, 2 infinite stages, and 1 nsfw animation

After 4 years of development by a team of like 4 or 5 people now the game has 9 enemy types, 3 infinite stages + 1 test for side scrolling, and 8 nsfw of onyx. Not counting fem cop in gallery that is a simple character swap.

As a dev does this time frame seem ok to you?

I'm genuinely asking and not attacking you at all. I'm curious about your input as a developer.

On a side not, I actually think you do good work and quite like your character design. Big fan of corruption. Please keep it up.

i think before people say this. you need to actually gather facts on why people are upset. the game has been development for 4+ years. They abandoned a game for this too. Don't just preach without actually taking the time to be factual.

The effort that you say is what they try and exaggerate, with a bloated changelog where only 2 lines matter sometimes even none. the average per dev(INCLUDING SOLO DEVS) is somtimes an animation a month. They arent solo devs and they struggle to put out a single animation a month...

Yall are talking like your upset, but since your here on F95, you are complaining about your free lunch.
Yea the game looks nice. It's sad once you learn the extra context though.

I was going to write more but you're probably feeling a bit spammed. Just know that the dev behind this game has burnt bridges with other projects, and probably will with this one.

I can only speak for myself but I actively buy games I find here and will probably buy yours. I also have a little bit of dev knowledge and am making my own game right now. All I'm trying to say is, in my opinion and limited experience, this isn't the best project to defend. I'd love to be wrong but I think I said "I'd love to be wrong" like two years ago in this thread lol.

You need to know that not just F95's member are complaining. Eromancer first game is Malise and the Machine, they start it back in the day people still using Blogspot, they are one of the first indie group game to make porn game, in the era of 2014 where most guys that day play either Illusion game or Eroge Visual Novel (which all Japanese because back then only Japan make hentai games). They start MatM at the end of 2014 ( ), i follow them at that time, when they post their stuff on ulmf.org. At first thing was promising, but after sometime they change the game, it have different start now, but it is just changing starting map so no one care, and the game progress for a good amount of time and...well.....they announced that they are going to rework the game along with their engine, things broke, people angry. The climax of the drama is on ulmf, i still defend them at that time, but when they pulled the bullshit that, they going to stop developing MatM and start developing Pure Onyx because they want more money to continue develop MatM, i lost my shit.

So, the shit about Eromancer was along ago, people pissed at them for valid reason, back in the day they announced Pure Onyx they promise that the game is a fast side-project to earn money before they going back to MatM, but now what????. 4+ years and the game is not even finish its prologue stage, i and many others following them from 2014, and it is like, 7+ years and not a single finished shit to play, even before they rework MatM, the game only finish its prologue which is two main girls escape from the underground lab

I agree with you, I've seen a bunch of crap around here especially that is clearly made to just make a quick buck and bolt away, but for the amount of dev time this game had...it's just a different story.

I mean, since this game has been posted on the site, I passed my two last years of high school and studyied my ass off in calc classes to pass another two years of university, and they barely managed to add anything to this rather simple game?...

I know first hand things get VERY complicated very fast in a development process but come on, the amount of time they had was enough to finish a game. Future Fragments, for example, has had so much more content and mechanics added in the same amount of time (just considering these 4 years) that it's kind of ridiculous.

I will say though, some people do talk like that around here, but a fair few are also willing to support what they like.
I bough Lorain for example, because it impressed me, and I plan on buying more even if I can just yoink them off of here. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
poor kid got no words after they proved the scam,, and now he mentions free lunch :KEK: do u pay directly without testing the game? dumbazz
This is just straight up being an ass.

Free lunch for us yo-ho-ho pirates yarr, sure. We're not the ones being bilked - but a nontrivial number of inattentive and/or gullible Patreon rubes are. Calling a flagrantly scummy and dishonest business model as much is perfectly justified whether it directly affects us or not ya know. As is making relevant conclusions about the enterpreneur doubly so as they already have a rap sheet of such.

Also this free lunch is comically stale, over-salted and gone cold long ago.

This boils down to the same core principles behind the BMW Heated Seat subscription talk recently. People don't want to be nickel'd and dime'd for things. No one wants to feel like they're being scammed out of their money. Supporters of a project like this are "customers" per say. They're like investors. Feeling like the company/group/individual you're sinking money into for a product of any kind is not bringing in returns is a bad one. As a professional software engineer of over 15 years with game dev experience, from my own viewpoint, Eromancer's practices aren't aimed to be geniune and loyal to their supporters. RNDM is 100% correct in their stance. It doesn't matter if it's this forum post or an official one for Pure Onyx - calling out shady shit is calling out shady shit, and perfectly acceptable to discuss regardless of the instance in which it's brought up. Ignoring that and just saying shit like "You're complaining about free things" or "Give it time to evolve" as DammitBird said, is pure copium or cognitive dissonance, and really shows their stance on the matter and point of view to game design and upholding community expectations. To be fair, Heavy Hearts and Pure Onyx are different games with different layers of complexity, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't support either of these games no matter how good they are because for me it comes down to the character of the dev(s). I'm not going to support people who are scummy or idiots, one way or another.
