Basically, it's a mechanic being tested and refined, but instead of having people go through the whole game just to test it, you can test it directly.

Btw, from observing their patreon, the combat mechanics in this, will be the combat of the normal game as well.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not super versed in the rogue-lite genre but are you supposed to lose the weapons you summon after using them? Seems like that's just super shitty Gatcha nonsense.

I think he lost the main game or it's a different person without access to the main game. It's been years without a single release, to release something so small that has nothing to do with the "main" game.

If you look at the patreon, you'll see the island (I think it's got some visual updates) with the combat mechanics used in this beta test.

Basically new things in the game we have yet to play: surfing mech, the new combat system & elements (outside of the realm), free climbing, prettier graphics, swimming system, underwater combat, x-ray scenes, grappling hook (I'm looking forward to this one), new island building, enemy emotion.

I highly reccomend checking out the kemono, you really see how much work has been done, still annoying there's no build, I won't lie, but it isn't a case of no work being done. Just that there's a lot of work being done, but nothing released. (possibly because of backlash when they released unpolished builds previously? dunno the exact reason, since there looks to be enough for something playable).

I wouldn't really pay attention to how it's been 4 years (originally wrote 1-2, but damn been a while), because it's an actual game, one where the dev is trying to be really ambitious, which fucks the dev timelines in the ass.

If it was just the island, and only the island, then there'd be pleanty of updates, but you got the zone thing, the dream world, and then the battle mode in the dream world, two of them, and now you're just adding a lot of dev work, but work that doesn't really show much of anything.

Unlike a VN game where most of the work is what players see, games have a lot of coding and background shit you gotta mess with.

Basically, Dev has been developing the game the whole time, just no releases. they just seem to be terrible with estimates (they were trying to release a playable island build november last year)
Game is looking really good, just that we can't play it.

p.s. honestly this build and the whole forbidden space thing, can be it's own game, adds to my point of the dev doing a lot of different things.

I mean, if you spent 5 minutes and went back a few pages in the forum, you would've realized that what's been uploaded to the OP is a standalone test-build for a game that hasn't been updated in about 4ish years and that all the review are for that old build. well, I issume that 5 years without updates already determine the fate of this game. In 2019 I already knew what it will come to. The concept itself was interesting, i.e. explore the island, build to survive, etc. But the gameplay was awful as the erotic scenes.

Part of the problem is the full game is labeled as "Old Builds", when it should be "Main Game" and the trial for the new mode should be labeled as such. Sad that people can't bother to read like any message in the thread before posting that mention it's a test build for a new mode/area inside the main game, but the OP could certainly explain things better as well.

Part of the reason people have clung on to this game is there aren't many games like it...or there weren't when it was still being updating regularly anyways. Now we have some other options for open world survival games. Lisland (If you're okay with R7 content, no combat, and can find it), and Mad Island are the two big ones I know about. I guess you could consider something like LonaRPG as well, but it's not really the same feeling with the instanced locations, no building options, and full 2D.

Even in the "survival" genre, there's a difference between combat and horror survival and crafting/building/resource management type survival. Though apparently this site still doesn't even have the survival tag (I thought it did for a while, but I might be misremembering). Reminds me that this game needs the "Sandbox" tag though.

There's a different between this forum and kemono that literally rips ALL the paywalled content.

From my experience most devs reluctantly accept that their versions get leaked here, very few actually are okay with it let alone happy about it.

None of which adds any validity to their hilarious accusation that I'm the dev.

Which is a clear attempt on their part to just dismiss my comment because they want to hate on the game.

Although ngl, kinda wish they were right, I'd love to be fluent in C#, then I could make a game that isn't the same fake-harem fulla whores bullshit that western devs shove down our throats.

On my side, I'm sorry he didn't finish the original family story ark, but I got used to patreon "inconsistency" by now...
I think I haven't seen a single finished game in 7 years, maybe I'm just unlucky (like I didn't know better..)

This is a new game for me, even pretty nice. if we are lucky we'll see a kind of storyark before retirement

Where as this dev instead of trimming back, decided to go and bring his skill level up. The negative there being, time, takes quite a bit.

Do I want them to release an update already? 100%, but I also want it to be good.

O, btw just gonna throw this out there, this playtest does have sex scenes, you need to use the talisman things to unlock it tho. (I only did stuff with the catgirl so far myself).

They did the pov view pretty well too, some devs just have the cam there, and half-ass it, so tends to have clipping, or inside the players head but the head isn't hidden XD

IIRC, the last thing the dev mentioned about the dream world was that he was only going to add more content to it after completely finishing the next dungeon.

Of course, who knows if this is still the case as the scope for the next update has changed quite a bit.

Well, I'd say that is more of a general progression, if still a thing.

Since they've already reworked the island in that time. (and a few other semi-overhauls of content).
