im not saying you are wrong when going by textbook definition. But what I was trying to say is when you don't go by textbook definition of porn which I believe is something others on this site do as well it's hard to consider this a porn game. Which is why from time to time you might see someone calling X is not a porn game even if factually it can be considered one . So yeah factually you might be correct ( didn't bother to read the actual definition.) Yeah it's subjective and opinionated no denying that but when there is more of a story and romance focus than getting to the porn it does not come across as one to some of us.If one defines "Porn" by ignoring the conventional definition of pornography and saying that it's simply a matter of how good you subjectively feel the "main theme" of the story is, then I can't agree with that .... That's an opinion-based argument not a fact-based one, and it's not convincing in the slightest.
The fact is that Race of Life undeniably meets the definition of pornographic media because it includes depiction of explicit sex acts for the express purpose of causing sexual arousal. It includes lots of it, in fact. And unless someone can tell me that there is another reason for showing a close-up shot of Jake's dick punching Natalya's cervix, then I'm going to say it's quite accurate to say the scene was expressly designed to ellicit sexual arousal. That's not based on my made-up definition, that's a standard definition consistent with many sources (You must be registered to see the links,You must be registered to see the links,You must be registered to see the links,You must be registered to see the links,You must be registered to see the links,You must be registered to see the links, etc...)
So if a certain someone is going to jump on someone else for calling it a porn game and declare "your assumptions about this being a porn game are wrong", I think they should at least try to support that with a standard, widely accepted definition of "Pornography" instead of using their own completely subjective personal definition as a source of truth...
Personally, I'd say it's far more accurate to say that yes, Race of Life absolutely is a Porn Game or a "Porn VN" but it's a story-driven one. If you took away all the porn scenes and replaced them with completely PG interactions, then I think Race of Life could still hold up quite well as a story... if perhaps distinctly less fun for degenerates like me. But the very inclusion of those highly explicit sex scenes like the close-up shots of Natalya's afformentioned doinking is what qualifies Race of Life as a porn game because those scenes wouldn't be there except for sexual entertainment purposes. Race of Life simply raises the bar of story-driven porn games, but that doesn't make it stop being porn.
Also, I don't believe that having a good story and being pornographic are in any way mutually exclusive... unless of course, one is fallaciously trying to convince themselves that their favorite game isn't porn because they "don't play porn games". Porn can absolutely have fantastic storytelling, which is a niche that AVNs fill spectacularly. Honestly its the marriage of porn and storytelling why I love AVNs so much. It's porn media that involves stories and characters that I can give a shit about which makes the porn even hotter.
Which is exactly why I don't consider this a porn game but I do see this game more of a middle ground. As there are certain situations like the parking alot sex scene that comes across as a scene that is there more for the porn as it had no romance or anything , it just kind of happens. But this game isn't full of scenes like that either as it isn't the focus or purpose of the game. Also the fact there is extra scenes which is there for the porn makes me clasify this as something in between porn and not.
Yeah I know it isn't anything more than my opinion but you will never change my mind about me saying this isn't a porn game no matter what . I really don't care if im wrong by the actual textbook definition It's just how I feel. Just cause it's the actual definition does not mean we have to agree with every definition out there 100% of the time. Now be a different story if I was saying I was factually right cause there be no arguing how wrong I am if I was saying that.
