you are very much correct that overall its more than 5-12%. thats why i mentioned "+ some flat fee" - though that was not entirely correct as there is some relative portion still left to processing and payouts. also creators will have different fees depending on payout method, having supporters donate in a different currency than your payout currency will result in a conversion fee and as a bonus non us creators generally have higher fees (relative and absolute).
that all wasnt the point. the point is 4k 2k or even just 1.5k/ month is not some spare change for most people EVEN those living in the us. as much as its silly some entitled people argue i want my updates and put forth the patreon income - most dont donate and then again in my very personal opinion the donation itself shouldnt be understood as a payment for a future product - its also silly to say oh but 2k is nothing.
also the whole us argument as is is rather disingenuous its a massive country with vastly different states/regions. 2k wont cover nearly anything in lets say cali or ny city but go to lets say michigan and tell me you cant cover living expenses there with that amount.
the whole discussion around is it enough or not to dedicate full time is stupid. if you dont know their expenses there is no point arguing. they could well live in a country where 2k is equivalent to the median yearly income and still have it tough if they are the sole breadwinner in a household of 10 - being quite hyperbolic 12x the median should generally be manageable if there arent some crazy medical expenses and whatnot.

The author tested 3/4 of the new chapter back in September. Perhaps by next year he will finish testing the remaining 1/4. Take some air.

You got this all wrong, they tested the 3/4 back in September but still had to work on the other 3/4.
