There are several reasons.

• The way I see it male protagonists get all the girls. Female protagonists get fucked.
• I have a great dislike for Mary Sue characters

On the other hand, there is this game - Goblin's Brides - which has a female protagonist but her male partner is a generic male Mary Sue. The protagonist's journey is pretty bland with no drama. She is just a part of the harem. But I really liked it. I think its because I feel more empathy for the ugly bastard protagonist. Maybe for me it's about a clear underdog in bad circumstances who might or might not win. It's not simple to pin down why I feel something is better or not.

This is the only game that gives black screen on joiplay. Can play literally ANY game on joiplay but somehow this gives me black screen. Even with latest joiplay from official website I still can get the game to run.
