playing this version of rance 2, there any way to go to that right side? walkthrough says that's where the exp farming is and I saw online that it was doable in the remake just by pressing right.

I looked more into it, apparently it's only exclusive to the 02 version even though the guide didn't mention that, ah well

Should I play the original games or just stick with the remakes?

I have already downloaded the remakes, did I miss any titles?

First question depends how much you can deal with very old, dated games.

No, you didn't miss any officially translated games. Wait for III and X (though it can take a while) and you have all aside from IV, which may not get a remake.

I am fine with playing old games. But I heard the old games are not cannon anymore. Despite that, the games might provide a unique enough experience that fans of the series endorse trying them out before the remakes. Which is why I asked the question. But if the remakes are better in every way. I am fine with cutting my loses.

You should play the originals, 01 is actively worse than 1 and 02 is fine and has newer graphics but less CGs so you'll have to decide which you care about more. 02 Kai is the worst way to play 2 however and I would recommend avoiding that one. The old games are still canon, there's just altered scripts for 01 and 02 Kai but if anything it actually makes them less in-tune with the newer games, introducing quirks that are solely isolated to that game that never pop up again or in the case of 02 Kai hamfisting a meme that was in sengoku into the new script because they just made it after sengoku and it did really well, but it doesn't really fit.

You're missing III, IV, 4.1, 4.2, Kichikuou and VI Afterstories. The only one of these that aren't canon is Kichikuou but it's the best entry in the series and shows an outline for what the games 6 and beyond cover so I'd recommend you to play it anyways.

I thought that's Rance X estimates, the 03 remake some time after that?
Absolutely impossible Rance X releases that early given Mangagamer's track record. It's stuck at 5% editing because the editor is Rance 03's translator TGM, so we'll have to wait for that game to be 100% translated first.
Once that's done, She has the biggest script in japanese vn history to edit.
And then, Rance games are usually stuck in programming/testing/redrawing limbo for a year or two. If we're lucky the beta testing should be started during that time, otherwise add another year.

TL;DR learn basic japanese and/or MTL the game because who knows if you still wanna play this in 5 years.

I feel like the slow English releases must be a deliberate choice, if the bottleneck is translation, that is.
Given how good AI translation has gotten, the only requirement now is for an editor to review the output.

So, can anyone tell me how bad Rance II is? I mean the original version. Already played the one with upgraded graphics, and it was hell at the endgame, goddamn golems nearly softlocked me. The only ones i didn't play are the original Rance II and Kai version, so if Kai is more fun - i wouldn't know.

Kai is the exact same as Rance 02 with a different script, and a worse script at that. Aside from that Rance 02 is pretty faithful to 2 gameplay wise, maybe the partner A.I is a bit smarter?
