Theoretically. This may be extreme copium...but now that Rance 03 is done, surely the editing will go faster now, right....?
It doesn't make sense to translate Rance 10 when you're still working on 3.

TADA specifically requested that his 2.05 patch update not be distributed outside his own channels, and it's not actually necessary to play Rance 4. It's just QOL updates (full keyboard support, increased drop rates for rare items, better XP and gold payouts, less aggressive RNG from random battles) and it makes the game a bit less a of dick flattening contest.Might be better to update OP with that version?
Not so much better as, 'different.' Rance 4 exists as a time capsule for the tail end of the Japanese PC98 engine and the kind of games they were making at the time. I imagine most people would actually prefer the new version but the old version exists for a reason.better than the OG 1.01 fan-translation that can be found in this thread.
Its a series, but you can enjoy its title on its own. Though you miss out backstory and context. Is there a good title to start on? Or just from 1? Self contained stories like FF or is it one massive continuing franchise?
Sounds like I'll skip straight to 6/7 then lol. I want a proper story and clunky gameplay. I've played too many clunky games lately. Thanks. Its a series, but you can enjoy its title on its own. Though you miss out backstory and context.
You can start with 01, 02 and 03, but imo the really astonishing ones are 6 and 7 (Sengoku). 01 has clunky gameplay and a very shallow plot, 03 and 6 are the first games hinting at a greater overarching plot and a larger world.
You could also go for 03. Who knows, maybe you aren't turned off with 01 and 02, then you could go chronologial a bit as well.Sounds like I'll skip straight to 6/7 then lol. I want a proper story and clunky gameplay. I've played too many clunky games lately. Thanks.
I would also say this is a good idea. 6 is probably my favorite in the series story-wise. It's really, really good. If it doesn't make you like Rance, nothing will. 03 is passable, but its story is kind of meh. It has cool moments, but there's not much in the way of interesting character dynamics like there are in later games. Urza from VI and Crook from Quest are head and shoulders above Sill or anyone else in 03. VI also has a TADA patch that I'd highly recommend, it makes the entire game waaaaaay less grindy.Sounds like I'll skip straight to 6/7 then lol. I want a proper story and clunky gameplay. That's why VI is such a great starting point. It weeds out the weak immediately.Just gave 6 a try and lmao. Dude just finds a random woman and rapes her. Not my cup of tea tbh. Thanks for the info regardless.
Can agree with that lmao. It's pretty fucking hilarious that the first shit you learn about him is that he killed two old men and then rapes a young womanThat's why VI is such a great starting point. It weeds out the weak immediately.
I'd say that he gets his comeuppance pretty quick after that intro, I really do think that encounter is there specifically to establish his character early, so people know what they're in for.Can agree with that lmao. Fair enough, I'll give it another try one day. Just not todayI'd say that he gets his comeuppance pretty quick after that intro, I really do think that encounter is there specifically to establish his character early, so people know what they're in for.

Its one massive continuous franchise that also works well as self-contained stories. Realistically, you can start at any point and have a reasonably good time. One of the main selling points of the series is how each game has its own unique combat mechanics so picking a tittle based on your prefered genre isn't a bad idea (02/IV are old-school dungeon crawlers; 01 and 03 I have no clue how to describe; 5D is a gambler's paradise; 6 is a 3D dungeon-crawler; 7 [sengoku] is flat out one of the most interesting Strategy tittles ever made; 8 (Quest) is a dungeon crawling Dark Souls; and IX is yet again another strategy tittle). Is there a good title to start on? Or just from 1? Self contained stories like FF or is it one massive continuing franchise?
Plots are all functionally self-contained but there's a fair number of recurring characters. Is there a good title to start on? Or just from 1? Self contained stories like FF or is it one massive continuing franchise?
I wouldn't say, 'never' since they do have the existing framework from the three previous remakes to crank out a fourth but the odds are low and it would probably involve getting TADA back in the saddle which I don't see happening. Will there ever be a Rance 4 remake?
Any download links for rance 4 patched?TADA specifically requested that his 2.05 patch update not be distributed outside his own channels, and it's not actually necessary to play Rance 4. You can, however, go to the Rance 4 page on the Alicesoft wiki, scroll down to the bottom where it talks about patches, follow the link to the English translation for the 2.05 patch, and follow the instructions listed there.
