Pete Townshend was allowed to get away with having tons of ** found on his computer(s) by claiming it was all for "research"...and because he is a rich white male.
The worst part is that it's so incredibly easy to simply filter out the content they don't like during their searches.

Wrong links, this are some 2.0.15 beta 7.37gb while the developer links are 2.0.16 beta 7.77gb.
When the alpha was released, the notepad only had alpha links in it. when i released beta, I added the beta links to the same notepad, below the alpha links, just in case. Thats the only time i added to that links notepad.

From what I read, he didn't actually have anything on his computer, and in fact that is the big reason why they agreed to allow him to accept a "caution" (which, from how it is described, sounds like more or less the UK equivalent of a plea bargain). He admitted to using his credit card to access a site with sexual abuse photos on it, and it is true he used the "research" excuse. He did have to accept 5 years on the registry but otherwise got away without much punishment.
