IMO choices are overrated. They may result in "extra" content by having multiple paths, but I'm curious how many players
really play more than 1 or 2 paths in games with several? Personally I find the repetition exceedingly boring and would much rather play a new game or just watch some extra animations using a gallery unlocker. I get that some people enjoy that sort of thing, but there are lots of games like that out there, and complaining that a good VN doesn't have choices is missing the forest for the trees.
My concern as a fan of this game is that often in games where devs try and appease the vocal minority asking for choices, the progress of the original/main/important storyline tends to inevitably stall. Hope that doesn't happen here, but I worry because the story progression has already been slower than in most games. Normally that is not at all a bad thing (and can often be a good thing that means better writing), but when a slow-progressing VN suddenly tries to add branching...
Flying a plane requires a minimum airspeed to prevent engine stalling; flying at slower speeds close to the minimum is perfectly fine...until you try and do a bunch of unnecessary tricks and reduce your airspeed below the minimum and stall the engine..
