Did you attempt to modify the game files with different RPA or RPYC files than those included? Was any traceback text file or error file created in your game directory?
Can you try running it out of the Ren'Py SDK?

havent modified it at all, think i might have an issue with renpy in general though, cause I tried running the sdk exe and the same thing happened, it just opens, then closes. no traceback or error file seems to have been made.
seems to only happen with ReDreamer and the SDK though, maybe something about the latest version? my other renpy games work fine.

I hate to say "works on my machine," but I've tried 0.16.0 on 3 different computers with no issues. If the SDK itself does not open, then that is almost certainly an issue on your PC with running Python 3, which Ren'Py 8 uses.

It's not even a paywall. It's a free shareware game, and the features the passwords provide (full jump menu are wholly meant for returning players to make their repeat playthroughs more interesting or to give a special thank-you for supporting the game financially. None of them ever lock story content besides the developer commentary, which honestly should not be on for most readers.

The features a Patron password provide are (blue is for both $10/month Backers and $20/month Sustainers, yellow is only for $20/month Sustainers):

• In-game C.H.E.A.T.S. adjustment.
• The full route jump menu to return to previous content (not just the new and edited stuff for a release, which is always available).
• In-game developer commentary.
• Saving edits from the sprite viewer to appear in-game (such as Zoey's eye color, hair color, hair style, and outfit).

As stated, none of these features are intended for first-time readers. They also make the game a far more distracting mess to navigate; more specifically, that specific password leads to huge spoilers that could greatly hinder the experience of new players using it, and it's the type of knowledge that changes everything.

If you want a patron password for 0.16.1, it's Smug Scot but please have a bit more kindness for this solo developer and don't go leaking a thing I only give to trusted individuals.

The Patreon is a tip jar with this project being largely self-sustaining for further art and a continuing very modest lifestyle for myself, and the way you are showing "appreciation" is not appreciated. Besides, the features besides the secret lore are all unlocked in anniversary releases anyways (with the next being next month).

I am not harping on your for breaking open the game files, nor am I against piracy (look at how many doujins "CaptainCaption" has pirated on ex-hentai; it's in the hundreds).
I am harping on you for doing it in a way that can permanently alter and even ruin the game for new people (hell, most people). If you enjoyed the game, let others do that as well, and don't throw some moral intellectual freedom imperative out when that comes at the cost of significant story spoilers.

The lore unlocks automatically as a new function, and there is a second password that does everything but the secret lore. I already posted it above. Please just edit your post to use that one.

There are sexual scenes in the game and the two main routes that are worked on right now each have a sex scene or two as far as I know. None in the mom route to my understanding (dev is adamant about no incest) and there is one route that isn't very developed yet, so avoid those if you want to see lewds.

That said, despite the initial set-up the game is a story-with-porn rather than a porn-with-story, so if you're not interested in the story and/or it can't win you over within the first maybe... 30 or so minutes, depending on how much patience you have, you're probably better off hunting elsewhere.
