I’m familiar with Patreon’s rules. There’s nothing in them that says “we’ll close your account if a random person makes a patch for your game.

in the FB space, for example, the rules are different based on the user geo location.
Really wish I could remember the name of the game. It happened about a year ago, I think. Dev made a post on their thread with a screenshot of the communication between them and Patreon which included a screenshot of their game's F95 thread as the sole evidence for their account being banned, because the game had the incest tag and a link to a fan-made patch. The game had no incest content by default, and if memory serves, the patch actually had to rewrite a significant amount of dialogue to make it fit.
Sadly, the ToS rules about controversial content is written so broadly that individual moderators have the authority to make wildly vague judgement calls, and their review system is mostly automated. If a particularly strict mod decides to ban a game, there's very little the developer can do to have it overturned, especially if the reason for the ban is something the developer can't control, like a 3rd party patch on a pirate site that they can't remove it from.

Wtf are you even talking about? The quality drop is cause of the half-assed stripping of the game's previous content, and no one has said a game is shit without incest, no one was ever demanding it be added to this game, it started with it ffs... you call incest fans whiny when half the selling point of this game was that very content, it's why we came here, we were invited, that invitation has now, unexpectedly, been rescinded and the content censored and awkwardly ripped out... wtf was everyone supposed to do in your eyes? Praise it's removal? Commend a job half done? Simply move on without saying anything? Just fuck off and die?

the censorship is a very unfortunate development and devs are forced to quickly adjust. I didnt mentioned anyone stating conceren about the how thats was done.

Thanks for helping but unfortunately my problem doesn't seem to solve itself. I've redownloaded the game twice and uninstalled and reinstalled the joiplay app and all the plugins but the options seem to be blank. I wonder what's different you're doing that it shows for you.

Imo, the patch is possible because the creator knowing/unknowingly, conscious or unconsciously makes those forbidden relationship quite canon. Or the very least that relationship easily altered/pretty tweak-able. The 'landlady/roommate', 'guardian' you name it. The I-patch never been this big issues before, it was the same with other taboo or questionable in-game content, whether it contains r*pe or non-consensual content. afaik, they draw the line on M*nor/C*P* content only. But last year alone they change their TOS and demanding creator to explicitly saying every actions in-game must be consensual.
But they sure have some issues with their 'unwritten TOS', subtle censorship and content moderation on their platforms while pretending to be innocent.
The 'written TOS' mentioned shit about community modding, or acting like they never did any 'restriction of creativity' for that matter. But they're not as clueless or ignorant as they might shown either. Well, you could easily guess they've got some pressure from the pro-censorship activist, and social movement is not an issue that business could ignore entirely.
They might not suspend your account, but also never said they won't de-list or shadow ban your games from their platforms. So the AVN creators doesn't have much choice here. We know at least many if not most creators heavily depend on services like patreon/itch/subsc to gain financial benefit for their creations. Not much choice here, either you comply or completely stop using their platform.

Playing this without a mod is suicide because the events happen based on the current score and maximum score, but the options that increase this are completely ridiculous and without a walkthrough you quickly get lost and avoid 70% of the content.

he infested ( metaphorically) blood, sweet and tears to make this game a huge success.
he probably has a lot of irl stuff hanging on to how much money this game makes and he cant afford to have this entyre game be erased.
i do not see this as an excuse.. i loved this game for what it was and im in shambles for what has become of it..
like many others i can just pray that dev will find his way back to his roots and let us pay for the stuff we really care about in games like this..
