Things are extremly simple in this kind of cases: if he paused his Patreon, I hope the dev is OK and I wish him all the best. If he didn't I hope the exact opposite. There's no in-between.

He is not. He is a French citizen born in one of the French overseas provinces. I doubt they eat any frogs where he is from.
He does live in Canada now, though.

Last update I remember had 76 renders, which would be cool if it was weekly updated, not when you do 6 months+. At that point calling it abandoned is just a formality, not even Todd Howard would find it immersive enough to keep following the game.

Except said pirate forum is one of two avenues for promoting AVNs (the other being Steam). If he can't even be bothered to spend 5 minutes having ChatGPT write a generic update then it's doubtful the rest of his project is receiving the amount of effort one would expect as a financial backer.
I'm not sure why some LF fans are upset that a pirate forum is holding him more accountable to his customers than said customers.
