Congrats for your games. I understand that a complex game development is challenging but in my opinion keep a simple game play is the key to success. The market is getting very competitive and the most successful games have quite simple game play and not too many possible paths. KRI received messages both on my email, patreon, discord about my decision. So let me explain a little bit better.
Some of you know that creating a sandbox in RenPy is not an easy task. The game engine was not designed for this. Also I had to prepared around 50 different locations for this game, that's why I hired Bishop so he can work on the renders you have seen, while I focused on programming, UI, locations, new characters, computer apps, mobile apps, minigames and so on.
In doing this I have spent around 1.500 hours, which affected my job. I worked very shallow on my job, which lead to me being fired. Bishop didn't want to risk the same fate, because we worked in the same company, so he decided to leave. As I was saying he did 80% of the renders.
For this new game I did all the programming part and UI in one day and the rest of the days I spent on writing the story, making characters and creating the scenes. I already have the location from Rejected No More, so that meant it was easy to start full on story.
On Monday I have started to work for another company, so from now on I'll be working 10-12 hours a day, which means I can only work 2-4 hours on a game. So this amount of hours for Rejected No More was pants. I can't do shit in this amount of hours for a game like Rejected, while for a visual novel I have spent 90hours and the first episode is done, with around 300 renders, 10 animations and more than 30 minutes of gameplay.
That's what this was...and it had no reward.grindy one that feels like a chore.
Agreed. I still think the dev should have just focused on making the sandbox better and less complicated, instead of forcing in a pretty poor vn mode. That's what this was...and it had no reward.
Yep dude had no idea how to react to any of the criticism.Agreed. I still think the dev should have just focused on making the sandbox better and less complicated, instead of forcing in a pretty poor vn mode.
Why do you assume the decision is because he listened to any kind of forum whining? He already said the reasons are Patreon numbers and inability to work on it alone without the other dev. And it was easy to read between the lines and see it was barely sustainable even with the other guy. The lack of content speaks for itself. It's also assumption on my part but I think if Patreons flocked to this project, the team would still be together and the game wouldn't have been onhold/abandoned.I see a lot of people blaming the sandbox. Almost all of the most successful games (on this site and patreon) have some form of sandbox or free-roam to them. If the dev wants the game to gain popularity, I don't think listening to a very vocal minority is a good move. That said, there is a clear difference between a good sandbox and a grindy one that feels like a chore.
At least we will have action with them in your gamesNo More Money will happen in the same city and period as Rejected No More, so seeing them in public places or in highschool, hospital might happen, but you won't be able to have fun with them, because I'm still working on Rejected No More, so it would be strange knowing that they are cheating on you with you.
Look, I'll start by saying that I don't really have a horse on this race. I'm not philosophically opposed to sandbox-style games, but I do agree with the comments here that the majority of sandbox games in this site are just plain bad because devs here don't know how to develop a game game (they often barely know how to structure proper english sentences), so anyone attempting this type of game shouldn't be surprised to see some reluctance. Additionally, I have just found out about this game from the "No More Money" thread, and I clicked here because I really, really liked "No More Secrets" and I thought that if you had made another game that I had missed, I owned myself to try it.If I turned it in a VN then all those hours that I have spent would have been pointless. There is no need for such a complicated arhitecture with quests, subquests, achievements, inventory, money system, job, mobile phone, computer, skills and so on for a VN, and beside I'm still working on Rejected No More, it's just that the updates will be slightly bigger and slightly less often, but my main focus for now is to make a game good enough to earn more patrons so I can do what I love, which is building games.
If I manage to do this full time then I can hire people to help me with both games.
But next week everybody will get to try the new game and decide if you like it. I'm sure that the people will, at least the people who supported me for No More Secrets. It's more or less the same type of game, but with better story and better graphics.
Never said the decision was made because of whiny children. I'm simply pointing it out because this thread has become a 30 page cringe compilation of people complaining about the sandbox, even after the dev made multiple posts about it and even made a poll on his patreon where the majority voted to keep the sandbox. Why do you assume the decision is because he listened to any kind of forum whining? He already said the reasons are Patreon numbers and inability to work on it alone without the other dev. And it was easy to read between the lines and see it was barely sustainable even with the other guy. The lack of content speaks for itself. It's also assumption on my part but I think if Patreons flocked to this project, the team would still be together and the game wouldn't have been onhold/abandoned.
To me it's better to kill it like this instead of a year from now, when they'd have already made some decent bank and whatever amount of playerbase it still had would be more invested. Just ask Patreons of Milfy City or BB...
Out of the most popular games on the site, full sandbox types that are still being actively developed are a minority. Having some type of contained free-roam in a renpy VN doesn't make it a sandbox game. This dev's last game was like that and nobody really complained. That's completely different from making a grindy BB clone though.
That... he also made the mistake of "dealing" with the mobster boss in NMS, that should've been kept for this game, IMO. This MC should've dealt with them, especially since the mobster boss's son fucks his precious Natalie... sweet payback moment, he fucks his dad, fucks their business, fucks his rival and fucks the bitch. That's a lot of fucking for one game, but at least he has a plot he can work with. As of yet, there's nothing interesting that could keep ppl invested in this game, I hope I'm wrong tho.dude had no idea how to react to any of the criticism.
Kept changing and messing with the wrong things...
Fully agreed with that, but he didn't abandon the game, he just put it on hold, so there's still time for some tweaks. He should find another dev he can team up with to work on RNM, keep things simple, less grinding and annoying mini games, make it a story driven game and see if his fans like it or not.And remember that while most people like to think of F95 releases as just a new chapter in a "live" game, this game is still in an alpha stage until you complete all chapters in the story. Alpha stage is exactly the right time to evaluate what works and what doesn't in the game.
Sorry, but this mod seems to completely break the game. Once I install it the game will not even start.Rejected No More (v0.2.2) Cheat Mod

None that I can remember. It was supposed to be a story about the MC stealing other guys women, so naturally they would already be intimate with someone else, before stealing them away. But people don't understand what NTR really is, so they complained, and the Dev changed the story to a literal wimp that one day gets to bang all the hot chicks, because...god knows really...it'll take a herculean effort to make it believable the MC written the way he is could score any pussy at all, regardless of circumstance.is there any sex scene already? why i saw that theres scene where the landlady have sex with a man?
