This might have been talked about already but.

I've been playing around with the do-over settings.
Is it possible to get the settings to stick?
Some reset every time you start the game and other reset anytime you leave one replay and start another.
Do Over should stick going in, but will (should) revert when leaving a replay (i.e choice in replay shouldn't carry back into the main game). Changing setting on the Do Over page during a replay will only be in effect for that replay. I'm not sure there is a way around that, as renpy controls how that part works.

might be a dumb question but when it's done will it be available on mac? the unity version doesnt work on mac sadly
Windows, Android, and Mac are the versions I release for this game, and they will all go live at the same time when the patch is completed. I can't test on Mac, so I just assume it works there...

Yes, everything from the post is already in the game. I only write patch notes after I complete something.


That is the biggest downside of this project. Moving from player to developer does significantly diminish some aspects of the the game. It's much more difficult to enjoy a scene when you've spent 10-15hrs working on on it and have read it dozens of times.

Also harder to- ahem- "enjoy" a lot of the sexy dialog when I'm the one writing/editing some of the lines. Because instead of "You push as deep as you can inside your mom and spray your balls into her womb." all I can think is, fuck, I wrote that, and it sounds cheesy, maybe I should re-write it? take it out? should I just delete the game?!

But (and it's a big butt (and like big butts and I cannot lie (I also like small butts I'm not shy (I need to get back to work or I'll start to cry (some people like cake but I like pie (alright, no more of that, what the fuck was I saying? (right...))))))), sharing this game with the f95 community has been a (mostly) fantastic experience. So, I'm okay giving up a bit of enjoyment in a porn game I really like, if it means I get to continue posting crazy shit like this. Besides, there are lots of good porn games, so not like I have no other options to, uh, "relax"...

Or, was that a rhetorical question... like "Oh man, it must be hard having your own private jet?"

And scene 3 of 6 done (HALFWAY, sort of... 1200 lines of text out of 1900)!

It took WAY longer than I anticipated due to the need for additional image creation. There was a pretty jarring disconnect from the previous scene (as there often is, since the Unity game doesn't really connect scene to scene). So I had to write a pretty big bumper to go from the end of the Jessica event into the Family event.

The good news here is that there will be two "versions" of scene 3 and 4 depending on which Summer you invite to movie night. Wild Summer's scene 3 is unfinished (need more art and dialog for her), but I want to move into the next scene rather than spending more time on it at the moment. Again, temper expiations here, this is mostly a "pallet" swap with slightly alternate dialog, not an extra scene.

Pushing into scene 4 Sleeping Summer Fun Times (no, not the real scene name). I have big ideas about extra images, but, uh, not sure I'll be up for it in this version, so finish options might get pushed back into r3.5.

I'll see how much more art I feel like making and how far I get tonight, once again feel like I'm not as far as I expected to be.

And scene 4 of 6 done, uh... sort of. All the unity content is there (minus videos, I'll do at the end of the night so I can batch render while I sleep). But, I really want some ending choices for it, which, fucking sigh, means more art... And that is just fucking hours to do, so, I have to decide if I want to try and fit it in this update (that's what she said). For the moment the answer is, no, don't feel I have time for that.

I'm thinking most extras this time around are going to get pushed back into the Tricia update, or r3.5, as I think it's silly to delay the whole update for some minor options. Anyhow pressing on into scene 5, getting closer!

r3.4 Progress Report #11 - Dec 11 @ 05:50 UTC (Task List)

(TDL: Scene 5 of 6 done. Working on last scene now. Still on track for Dec 12 (or 13 UTC))

Dun-dun-dun, another scene bites the dust, and another down, another one down, another scene bites the dust!

Yep, scene 5 of 6 is done (again, only sort of...). Beth's portion is all in, pretty much "as is" with no extra anything, just more or less matching the Unity version. Which I know some people will cheer, but it's not how I like to do things and it's really bothering me that there is no "finish" option for these scenes. But I also want to get all the content in, and sidetracking to write new dialog/make new art isn't what I want to focus on at the moment (also, also, brain is mush right now, and while I can pattern match images, the creative side of the thinky machine in my head place isn't doing so hot).

Just one more main scene to get into the game (which is what I'ma start on after this post) and then I'll be "content complete". The goal is to do that before bed, which I'm pretty sure is possible. Then I'll do the video editing and set rendering overnight (it shouldn't take more than an hour, but that's time I don't have to be awake for).

So, it's pretty much all done right?! You can give us the update in a few hours, right, RIGHT?!?!?!

Hold your horses, if for some reason you have a horse nearby to hold while reading this (if you are riding and reading, get off your phone!!). I still have some stuff to do. First the big one, QC. I haven't checked any of the scenes I've put together today, so they probably don't even work, or are in Russian for some reason. I expect that to take me all of tomorrow to do. If QC goes well (HAHAH no it fucking won't), I'll do my best to slip (that's what she said) in the extra choices I want to do, if not, they will go in a later patch (and I just need to stop stressing about them).

After that l need to do all the build steps, and test that those worked. So, almost there, but still a fuck ton more to do.

So yes, I'm still on target for a Dec 12th (possibly 13th in UTC time) release date. I'll give an approximate time the "day of" as I close out the final steps and see how things are going. And will continue to post regular-ish reports like this lovely wall of text whenever I finish something major, or just need a break.

(Also, also, also) I normally put these in the "Task List" post (and just keep editing that). I've tried them as just regular posts this time around, and I'm wondering which (if either) people prefer? Did you find this format more helpful? Or are constant info dumps just annoying? Or is my voice in your head just annoying? I know my voice in my head is annoying the fuck out of me...

Anyhow, break over, back to work.

I personally love those posts you do with this update progress, but tbh it's a first time I track it. It might be because I get F95 notification every time post is added in this thread (I added it to the watch list). Anyway, keep up the good work!

I'll never be happy with it is the problem, and without a deadline it simply wouldn't ever be done. But, I did decide to share the game for some reason, so I do still have to put stuff out (I mean, yes, technically I don't "have" to do anything, "want" is more appropriate I guess, but "want" sounds whiny).

Still, the next time around I might give it more breathing room. I like having it turned around quickly, but also it feels like I'm short cutting some things I'd like to include. I've got two paths to take, do it fast (that's what she said), but with limited extras, or do it slower (also what she said (she is very confusing sometimes)) but all the stuff.

Different people will give different answers for what they want from this game, and at the end of the day, the only person I can pleasure myself- er, I mean please, the only person I can please is myself. So, I have to pick the route that makes me happy...?Can I save and choose both choices, maybe mod reality? Fuck, do I have enough corruption points?!?!

Anyhow, a problem to solve another time. I'd honestly like to try something like an alternating release window (so a month after the unity version). But, I'm hesitant to artificially delay the game (I don't need a month to do the update).

I donno, I might do a poll on it or something. And back to putting in images of summer getting fucked!

Why don't you divi up your updates like the Unity version?

How about insted of one update, you go with two? One for the unity content and the other for your additions.

Going by your updates here, inputting the content from Unity seems to be the lesser of the two evils in terms of workload. So that goes out first, giving you the satisfaction that this version is not lagging too further behind in terms of content from the original.

the Second update will be of YOUR CONTENT. YOUR ART. YOUR EDITS.
Like The mindblowers update. Only this is for your edits and bug fixes.

This would spread out your workloads and every release would essentially bring forth new content for us ever greatful leaches that suckle on the teath of thine generosity.

Those that can't be patient but can't be f*#ked to to play the Unity version get the content they care about and those that follow this thread for YOUR content get theirs.

tl:Dr; Break your releases into two parts. Unity release and NightMirror Release. Everyone gets what they want, your get breathing room and those that appreciate the effort you put in wait for the content they want.

Certainly not impossible. Although, usually, the art I need to make isn't too much. It's just this time around, every scene "needs" something imo, and the new style of image implementation I went with felt like all I've done is "make artwork" even if that's not at all the case.

I'm less of a fan of split updates because I think it really muddies the waters on what the game has and doesn't have. It also requires people to replay content they just played, which can be off putting. And again, usually my edits don't take too long (animation changes not withstanding, those will always need to be next update sort of things).

While I don't have a good answer at the moment, it is something I'm thinking about. I haven't even been posting this game for a year yet, so I've only had to deal with four (this being the 4th) updates so far. And this is the first one I've felt "stressed" about doing everything I want to with it.

Anyhow, thanks for the input on it. One of the best parts of this experience has been the community feedback and suggestions. And I think a lot of things have been improved by listening to what others have to say.

Well, okay, not done-done, more like medium-done. Video editing (to make them into loops) is next up on the block, probably another hour or so there. Then I'm off to sleep (yes, I still need to do that as much as it pains me). Then tomorrow the first pass QC process starts!

You might be wondering why not just release it with no testing, and I say to anyone that asks that. No.

Or, more rationally, you might ask, how much left to do? And how quickly it can be completed so that you can jump into the update as soon as possible.

Well first pass is the slowest. It's the "Huh, the game didn't even load, I wonder what I fucked up" pass. Missing images, bad text, broken code, that's this pass. Renpy will let me know if any code is actually fucked up, so hopefully that will be pretty fast to fix (unless it's all fucked up...), but display errors are more time consuming (and harder to find (wait, is Summer missing both her arms again?! WTF SUMMER!)).

Usually, this is the step I do the following day after implementing a scene, to make sure it works. But since all scenes are in, it sort of becomes a hodgepodge of other steps. So I'll stuff in extra text, images, additional options, that kind of stuff in this step Because it's the first time I'm "playing" the content in full, I can see how it actually flows, and what I feel I need to change. That usually slows it down as I have to stop, make art, or write dialog, stuff like that. And there is some stuff I know I for sure want to try and slip in (that's what she said). So, yeah, I do expect first pass to take the majority of the day.

Once I get all the way to the end, then it is second pass. Again, this would normally have it's own day so that I could come in fresh, but no time for that! The goal of pass 2 is to play it without changing anything (HAHAHA, sorry, I couldn't type that with a straight face). Once I can get through the new content without modification (or errors) I consider it completed and we move into the next step. Building.

Respect for QC b4 release, as an IT guy I can really point out that the creator doing QC before releasing their code is always a miracle... as long as they do not "overpefrect" it :p Don't forget it's a hobby project and you should have fun doing it. If your fun comes from the feeling you can deliver it in record time and killing yourself with work over it, so be it (and we are grateful for that!), but please, please try to not burn out, as many of us are counting on you with this, shall I say, remake. Work(/hobby)/life balance is important as well!

Great man, I didn't mean to pressure you, I just got a bit of free time to check the updates and I wrote what's on my mind (although the half-past-midnight hour should make me consider if I should post it (but then again, eh, fuck it (I'm picking up your habit of multilayer side-thoughts, as you can see!))), as you seem to enjoy the community input.
