Does anything beat ripples in terms of quality?
This isn't really the right thread for that but these are excellent games:

One player's gem is another player's trash so opinions widely vary on what is quality and what isn't. I would place Ripples in the top 15, perhaps even top 10. Eternum came out after this list was made and is in the top 5 for sure. I would add Desert Stalker to the list also.

I hate to be that guy, but I seem to have lost my save. Any idea how long I have to replay what's out before the next release? I'm assuming this game isn't one where I need to worry about broken saves when a new release drops so replaying the new stuff before 8.0 should be fine.

If you read it all it'll take a while. Can't really give you an accurate estimate of that because peoples reading speeds vary so much. But if you just want to get to the end of the current patch so you can jump right into the new content when it drops without needing a refresher it shouldn't take long at all to ctrl skip through, 20 mins maybe? If that even.

This is definitely worth a re-read though if it's been a while since your last playthrough. Great game.

Sorry, I mean, how long between now and the next update?

With the downside that your saves borked to hell and back.
URM doesn't bork saves unless you make a huuuuge mess with the variables, what is unlikely. And the multi mod never gave me any trouble with the saves really, LightmanP is a good modder and usually fast even though puts it behind a paywall in the first 2 days, most the times I can load a modded save that works in a unmodded game, may not be the last I did but always find 1 that works and finds a place to rollback.

I also save often in different slots what is a good measure if a save can't find a place to rollback but I do that in every game still in development because changes can happen from one build to another, it isn't needed a mod for errors to happen, all it needs is the developer change the code or renpy version or even renders/dialogue and will happen. Also there is plenty of mod users that are careless and don't install it properly, most the times is an user problem and not the mod itself.

I've seen it complain about missing 0x52.store or some such if I try and load a save from a version with it to a later version without... But not often, and it's easy to fix. :)
Never happened to me and I use URM in all renpy games I play, just a few I use the author mods and in almost 3 years of playing AVNs never had to restart a fresh game because of borked saves caused by a mod. Sometimes I do but to refresh my memory hahaha. One of the things I enjoy doing in this forum is actually help other players when they get errors, sometimes I can help and others I don't, my programming/coding knowledge is very limited. I mostly have the experience of being a PC user for over 30 years.
