Development Progress Update #74

Hello Patrons!

First, I just wanted to welcome all the new patrons. I know a lot of them only subbed for the latest update, but that still means a lot to me, and I appreciate it. And I appreciate the patrons who stay subscribed even more. This is more important than ever, considering the ever-growing censorship and the unknown future of AVNS and NSFW content in general, but as long as you guys support me, Ripples is not going anywhere. We may have to make some minor changes or do this or that, but I enjoy creating this story, and I want to continue. So once again, thank you so much for supporting the project.

For the last week or two, I've been doing some much-needed computer maintenance and data management. First off, I finally upgraded to Windows 11 because they are stopping support for Windows 10 in a couple of months. I am aware that they will continue to have security updates for a little bit if you pay money, but this is a good time to get ahead of it. So far, Windows 11 isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've done a bunch of customization and brought back some of the Windows 10 features I like. And I've tested all my software, so my workflow hasn't changed, which is what I was fearing the most. I was hoping my software and old files would work without any issues. So far, so good.

I've also moved around a bunch of data, made more backups of my data, and organized it all. That took days to do because I'm kind of a data hoarder, and I like to rip my physical media and put it on my own server and all that networking stuff. So copying TBs of data takes a lot of time unless you have a fancy 10Gbe network setup or something that transfers data extremely fast. My setup isn't there yet. So that's all done, except for the last part. I ordered more HDDs and am creating a new NAS Storage system for myself and all my data. I'm still waiting for the NAS enclosure. So I'm making sure my data, along with all the Ripples data, is safe and secure.

But now, Ripples Episode 9 development begins. I did a tiny bit of writing last week on ep9 before I started all my PC stuff. I won't have mod/port a lot of new assets like I had to do for ep8. Also, I mentioned this before, but I'm aiming at smaller updates for a little bit and seeing how that goes. I want episode 9 to be about half the size of episode 8. So in theory, it should take half the time to create ep9. And it probably won't have as many animations per scene. I'll go more into depth about the episode in a future dev update. For now, I'll start working on the writing and dialogue for episode 9 and start setting up scenes after that.

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the summer. Well, if you live in my area of the world, it's summer. I've been loving the sunny, warm weather myself.
Have a nice day.
