Personally, I never understood this crusade from Patreon. It's fiction, and as long a game doesn't condone it I don't see the issue. What, if Game Of Thrones is mentioned, does that mean a dev can have issues?

I really don't understand what's the goal of it and why Patreon has such popularity. Not to mention that the platform already had it's fair share of controversies, no idea why it grew so much when many other platforms already did similar.

Fortunely Jestur still has Subscribestar and itch.io (unfortunely no Steam due Honey Select), but I guess it still would be quite an hit of the money cashing in if his Patreon went down.

That's my point as well. I don't like games when they have incest for the sake of having incest. But when it fits the story well I'm pleased to have it. I like it as long it is well written, and that reinforces what I mentioned above, while I like incest, I don't like if it messes with the story. Should be something to enrich the plot, and not something that forces the plot to change and decrease in quality.
As far as I know - PayPal is the big difference between Patreon and SS.

PayPal has specific rules that Patreon must abide by if Patreon is to use them as a payment service in support of creators.

The major credit card companies don't care so long as their users pay their minimum monthly payments.

If there is someone on the thread who uses PayPal over credit cards, feel free to comment to add some more background here.

I don't use/need PayPal, so it is not part of my experience.

I also have not bothered to see if there is a % breakout from total Patreon revenue showing % from PayPal versus % from major credit cards, for example (and a further breakout by region - North America/South America/Europe for example).

I'm not looking to do a Masters level business case study here, just offering a bit of insight on what I've read is the problem.

I've also seen some devs encounter problems getting set up/accepted by SS.

I finally started supporting one dev on Patreon when SS had him under review for > 4 months.

This dev also redid his AVN from the beginning to take away the 'i' content.

I will always use the Ripples iPatch/equivalent!

IMO, the Tiffany/Jessica content is some of my favorite.

Both women are fighting their attraction, but Jestur has done a great job showing the struggle Tiffany in particular has overcoming Who the MC is as he grows more and more into the man she lost so long ago.

So-Enough about the idiocy of PayPal - let's get back to discussing just how hot a 3sum with Tiffany and Scarlett would be!!

Yes, I can confirm that the interference of PayPal is at least one of the major reasons that Patreon turned against incest content. I used to pay my Patreon account through PayPal, when all of a sudden it stopped working and I lost access to some of my developers. When I finally was able to figure out what had happened, I immediately switched my payment plan to direct payment from DiscoverCard. I then canceled my PayPal account and will never use them again.

That's the myth of consent in modern corporatism.

It's all about stakeholder capitalism. Mega corporations are not just for making profits, they become ethical guides for our society to earn that sweet ESG money. So they feel the need to have a position on everything and interfere to "do their part" where necessary.

It would be super easy for Patreon and PayPal to just act as a platform and let anything, as long as it is not illegal, exist on their site and act as the neutral middleman. Instead, they need to preach to us the correct way to live and fix society's problems for us like we are children.

It doesn't matter if a developer wants to make an AVN with incest, and it doesn't matter if there is an audience to consume an AVN with incest, Patreon has declared that incest is wrong, and thus, they do their best to purge it so that no one is allowed to spend money how they wish.

The problem is that what's "illegal" for pornography will vary widely , and is subject to shift rapidly depending on the political climate. In particular, incest porn is regarded as illegal in many countries, and if there's even a whiff of a virtual minor character things get . A disclaimer that "everyone is over 18" isn't going to hold much water. And with the mess kicked up in 2020 everyone is freaking out over being caught in the crossfire. This is the sort of shit that gets everyone in a ten-mile radius in legal trouble, as .

So given the choice between a) keeping an armada of lawyers of staff to make sure that AVNs on their platform are kosher with the countries they serve and b) issuing a blanket ban on stuff that could potentially get them sued or criminally investigated, it's not surprising they'd go with the safer choice. Does anyone really believe that a major corporation in the modern era would leave money on the table over something silly like morals? Visa would happily process transactions for child slave auctions if they thought they could get away with it.
