Month end progress report

It has been a busy month, and in a good way. For the first time since I started developing Rise of the Crime Lord, I managed to finish everything I had planned for the month. And four days before the last day of the month I managed to get everything done! Which means I'm now working on the parts for May (the first section, which I have scheduled to start next week, will be completed today), while I've also managed to make some improvements to the images I've done for Alpha 1, plus some new animations.
To be exact, this means 216 new images and 4 animations, plus 18 previous images that have been redone to correct minor visual errors. Plus not counting the fact that I had to make one of the animation three times. First the camera lost focus, so the animation blurred by the end of the loop. The second time, Daz only rendered the two characters and the sky dome, and didn't render the room. So I only managed to make this animation for the third time. Although it was funny how Rick and Beth were having fun floating in the sky. What wasn't so funny was that it essentially wasted 8-10 hours of my work...
In addition to all this, I've also made progress in the code, so in addition to Alfa 2, Alfa 3 is also making good progress in the background. To reiterate: in Alpha 2, the Cora-Argay thread (Cora travels alone) will be complete, and the beginning of the "Rick stays home" thread will be playable regardless of where Rick spent the night (went to Jake's, stayed at Ahsley's, or went home). This part of Rick's thread is already complete, but if I manage to finish the planned work ahead of schedule in May, I may add another section.
And that brings us to the question of when you can expect Chapter 10 Alpha 2. Well, if I can keep up this pace and nothing comes in the way, I might be able to release Alfa 2 in June. It's not set in stone yet, of course, anything can happen - in fact, you'd better pray that it doesn't, because everything is going suspiciously well, and in my experience that's when the crash hits. So treat this June as "if the stars align, then maybe the June release can happen."
I will let you know how accurate this optimistic estimate was by the end of May at the latest. Until then I thank you for your kind words, your honest criticism and thank you very much to my patrons for their support. And I'm still available on

Hey Izirider, i think this one is good concept game you are developing, rarely we get to see soo many choices and opportunities. But damn...i visited your patreon and saw that it took more than 1 year for this game to get updated from 0.11 to 0.12, judging by the development speed, it would be wayy too long for this game to come anywhere near completion. Do you have any plans to reduce the time between 2 updates? Or if you are planning on bigger chapters, are there few number of chapters planned for completion?

Yes, there are plans, from Chapter 11 onwards I'll be doing smaller chapters and finishing up some story threads. I have also renewed my working methods and I am already seeing the results (hopefully you will too in June).
I must add that last year was a terrible year. In fact, the year before that was already shit, 2022-2023 was the low point of my life in many ways. I was struggling with personal, health, technical and professional problems, which slowed down the work. And I was a bit bored with Rise. This is partly why I started the Distant Horizon, at least to get out of the "creative crisis".
Plus it was rarely stupid of me to have planned the Chapter 10 so big. But now I'm stubborn enough to finish it as I planned.

Month End Progress Report
I will be brief now, because there is not really much to write about. This month I have 215 new pictures - not counting the ones I've messed up. I also created 4 new animations. A fifth one is already set, but it's still in the testing phase, but I'm sure it will be ready this week. I have also started the translation.
There's still a conversation between Rick and Cora to come, that will probably be done quickly, and what Reg and Cora will do in the evening if Cora rejects him. This won't be difficult either, I can use most of the settings for the "relationship" and "casual lover" routes. And there will be another short scene between Cora and Reg on the second day, but it won't be long in either version.
So, hopefully I'll be able to release Alpha 2 at the end of June. I plan to have all the images done by the middle of the month, and then I'd like to do some more animations. And then the last week will be the release. Pray that nothing comes in the way.

What is this shit with back stories? I got up to the part where Cora is on the plane to the island when the scene shifted BACK to just after the robbery, WHY??

Cora has a side that I have not yet shown. But in Chapter 10 Alpha 2, after the right choices, it may surface a little. Not for nothing is she the perfect match for a future crime lord.
