VN - Unity - Rise of the White Flower [v0.12.5] [NecroBunnyStudios]

I got recommended by many to try this game but at that time I was not sure so I skipped this one. Many updates later, I finally give this one a try, and oh boy I have been missing out. At least I got to play 9 chapters in one scoop :BootyTime:

    PROS :
-). Story-wise was great. I have tried a couple of similar games but none of them hits, this one tho, a home run. You could choose how are you gonna develop Catherine (the protag) and how she acts, You could choose how are you gonna approach battles but not be lazy to give the players the details, etc so it does not feel lackluster. It gives us replayability which is rare, so a huge win in my book. Many games that offer different approaches like this tend to get lazy and pay no attention to details.
-). Character. Diverse with many types of personalities, character development stole the spotlight.
-). Art. The characters look great and I love how they provide each character with different expressions (Eleanor is just too cute), loving the style overall but there is one thing,
the background tends to get repetitive, though it is not enough to knock down 1 star.
-). CODE. 99% smooth, there are a couple of small ones that I noticed, when i open the relations tab and then right-click to load a save, sometimes the relations tab gonna gets stuck so I had to go to the main menu and then load the save again.

    CONS :
    -

    MISC :

-). If the game has animations it will make the game even better, I am not talking about over-the-top kinds of animation but just a simple animation during the scenes and/or here and there.

Overall, very enjoyable experience, applause goes to the dev for developing this game, and cannot wait for more.

    100% gotta try this one

Not sure why I havent reviewed this game already. The quality is A++,as are the CGs, dialogues and story. NecroBunnyStudios has done amazing work with this product, and I am glad I had the opportunity to play through the current builds. If it continues like this, the final product will be in my top 10 VNs. Once more fantastic job NBS.

Game is great, art and animations style and quality is awesome. the devs have talent and it shows. story is dumb, dialogue is dumb also but overall this is a very good game. The cast of characters are not very diverse and all pretty much act the same. This is annoying. definitely worth a play.

Played through to Ch. 8 and I enjoyed the game enough to want to revisit it again once the next update arrives.

A few other reviews reference the rather wordy scrolls of text and I too found this slightly laborious. That said the story-line carried enough mystery and intrigue to make me persevere.

I read one review that stated if you are looking for the MC to be turned into a mindless slut then this is not the game for you and that is most certainly true.

Personally I like games where the MC is female and for the most part a strong character (which Catherine certainly is). However I also like to see these characters tested and put into challenging situations where they have to adopt a submissive posture or for the sake of personal advancement have to acquiesce to a hostile male character for a period of time or to avoid some other fate . In this respect the whole story-line with the enormous student debts and the threat of being sold into slavery should she fail to pay, really tickled my own particular kinks.

My interest was further piqued when the early villain (Jean) bought the MC's debt and in the process the rights to Catherine's leash should she fail to pay.

Unfortunately Jean's premature demise comes before any of those things manifest to the point of becoming reality, whch is a shame. In that time there are only really two story-line scenes written into the brothel theme which for me was an opportunity missed.

Jean's downfall coupled with Catherine's subsequent heroics effectively put an end to this prospect and with that any real hope that Catherine will be turning tricks with the local nobles in the chapters to come disappears.

For me there was much more mileage in the prostitution theme and the toxic relationship she had with Jean was something I was looking forward to in the early chapters. Alas Jean was never truly destined to be a serious issue/rival to Catherine.

Equally I felt there was an overabundance of female characters and likewise futa style scenes. I recognise that there were opt outs for the futa content and I am largely indifferent to it, Similarly I don't get overly hyped by lesbian scenes either.

For the most part but I would have liked more M/F scenes and for them to have a Dom/sub theme, particularly with Catherine adopting a more submissive role in her early days as she looks to establish herself.

The scene with Marius I really like which depicts the MC is serving him breakfast and the MC's slave is servicing him in other ways, more scenes like these would have enhanced my enjoyment of the game overall.

Jean and Marius are probably my favourite characters (neither is likeable) and it would have been good for the former to have stayed around longer to torment the MC a little more regarding her unpaid debts. Marius hopefully will become more of a feature but as the story progresses the MC looks less and less likely to take a submissive stance with him.

Having said all that, the story as it is, is well written. The characters have depth and diversity, albeit like I say, Jean and Marius could and should have been more prominent in my view.

If you like Futa and lesbian focused games then this will surely get 5 stars and in the absence of other issues it probably would from me too, but the failure to dedicate sufficent focus to the slavery/prostitution/brothel storyline means it only get 4 stars from me.

Great Work by the Dev, love the Art and CG's, Only thing for me that makes this game average is the lack of animation, could have been really great if it did have in future updates, I does take time to do all that but take your time for updates and give better content rather than rushing updates, well that's just my opinion, in no way i want the Dev's to feels bad , you guys have put a lot of effort and time into it, im just saying take more time and give out the best

This game has everything a good 18+ games needs in my opinion. I love the style and the drawings. The story is fun too. Adventure games like this with original art are always my favourites. Also to be a female main character is so cool, for once something new!
Its not perfect yet but its also not finished so I still give it 5 stars

A bit over 2 hours in (ch7 release), and I couldn't really get into it. The game is... fine. Nothing really drawing me in; nothing really pushing me away (well, until I started skipping all the talking to see what came later).
The writing is fine. In general I feel it could be tightened up a bit: replacing half a sentence with two adjectives where applicable, removing some of the floweriness, using more contractions in speech. By no means the worst I've seen though.
I feel the game could take better advantage of the... visual aspect of visual novels. There's a description of an impressive building, but a picture would certainly help sell it's grandeur. That might be a lot of effort for an image that's going to be used maybe once, but something like a combat variation to the standing art would also help the game feel more dynamic.
Based on the "earn money to repay debt" and "inspired by D&D" aspects I was anticipating a bit of adventuring and questing, but the game is mostly talking. Maybe it'll change later since money doesn't currently seem to serve any purpose and there are unimplemented inventory and potion systems.

TL;DR: Play this game if an idea of a good fantasy novel with many delicious sex scenes appeals to you. Skip it if you don't want to read a lot, or expect female MC broken and turned into a mindless slut.

Rise of the White Flower is an engaging, DnD-esque style story of a young mage - ambitious, gifted, beatiful and very, very horny. We meet our main character when she's fresh out of the academy, barely able to cast two spells in quick succession, and neck deep in crushing debt (apparently, student loans are a thing even in fantasy world). Over the course of her numerous adventures, she will gradually improve, growing in power, skill, fame and influence. Naturally, challenges before her will also keep getting worse and worse. It would be difficult to face them alone, but thankfully, White Flower is good with people and manages to build a net of trusty companions, friends and allies.

They are also all hot, and she will fuck every single one of them. At least as long as the player is inclined to do so.

    LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX

I can honestly say that, while not perfect, this is probably my favourite game I have found on this site. Porn scenes alone would be enough to put it high on the list - I love the art style, and authors actually put effort into setting up erotic situations instead of throwing random, soulless sex at you. It's also somewhat kinky, with aspects of domination, power play, rough sex (MC is as good at taking it as she is at giving), and orgasm denial. None of that truly extreme, but just enough to scratch your itch if you are into that kind of thing.

Additionally, game let's you choose if you want to initiate sex with any of the characters, and if you want to keep it vanilla, so (with one exception) nothing is forced on you.

It's also worth nothing that majority of sex (or all of it, if you want) is either casual fucking, or at most friends with benefits situation. This is not really a dating simulator, at least not yet - there is one romance route currently in the game, and I believe more of them will be introduced later, but you can easily opt out of it and just shag whomever you fancy at the moment. Including the aforementioned potential love interest.

It also involves fairly generous amount of good (and optional) futa content.

HOW TO LEVEL UP YOUR MAGE

As I've mentioned before, this game seems to be heavily influenced by DnD - there are even character sheets of different party members available. It doesn't use any actual RPG system, and it's not an isekai story, but it's very clearly stuctured like a RPG campaign: main character goes on a quest with some of her companions; they face deadly challenges and ultimately prevail, growing stronger thanks to their experience; they go back to the city to collect reward, catch some downtime, and train. During downtime we explore backstories of our companions, progress the plot, meet some new people from time to time, and eventually, one way or another, get charged with another quest. Rinse, repeat.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing - having a formula can be benefitial if it's a good one. This kind of story can be (at least to me) very immersive, and it's truly satisfying to watch how our heroine and her companions progress to new and new heights. And despite them reaching quite high, it all feels earned and deserved. Ultimately, it is a power fantasy, but a good one.

Characters are well crafted, and often have surprising depth to them - many of them are flawed, struggling with their own personal demons. Our heroine is not an exception here - she's a great main character, likeable, funny, sometimes a bit wicked, but she's also very realistic in her actions and motivations.

I would go as far as to say that you could cut all erotic scenes out of the story and I would still be very invested in this game - after reaching the end of current content I was genuinely interested in the story, and eager to read more.

    NOTHING IS EVER TRULY PERFECT

Unfortunately, there are few flaws I have to mention here.

Writing is generally quite good, however, I did not like how it breaks the fourth wall on occasion - it does not mesh well with the overal tone of the story.

Some of the plot lines also seemed to go nowhere, and eventually disappear completely - still, it doesn't happen often, and the game is not complete yet, so maybe I will end up eating my words.

There is one sex scene that I believe is unavoidable once you get to a certain point, which is a minor problem at best on its own. However, the scene in question is a bit spicy, and while I personally liked it a lot, I can see some people not happy with having no say in whether or not they want to go along with it.

Finally, while the prose in general is not bad at all, it could clearly use an editing pass or two - there are some issues with incosistent spelling, outright misspellings, and some words are repeated way too much in certain passages.

    JUDGEMENT DAY

Despite those complaints, I've still enjoyed my time with White Rose immensly, and I'm eager to see what's next to come!

I adore this game, wish I had the money to support the creator come back every week or two here looking for and anticipating the next update. I think many of the characters are interesting and from what I can tell you're choice mater at least somewhat. I have only really done lesbian and futa scenes because males are not super interesting to me I can say that the artwork is fantastic and also very hot.

    Reviewed version: Ch. 7 Public

The description claims to be inspired by D&D, but the lore and story go far beyond simple inspiration. Characters have interesting back stories, face challenges from their race or station and gradually evolve through Catherine, the lusty, open minded, slutty magician of high talent.

The game's world is poised at the cusp of crisis like many other fantasy adventures, and Catherine must navigate and sex her way towards abject slavery or becoming a living legend.

To be honest, I don't know if the choices you can make change the story much. I experimented with a few options and none appeared to make a difference in how things progressed. The most I got was 'have sex/don't have sex'. There's also money in the game which doesn't appear to have any purpose.

The art is.. idk. Something about the characters look off to me, like they all got transported from a JoJo episode. I can't quite put my finger on it but at least it stands out from many other games that use generic anime style drawings. There's clearly a lot of love put into the artwork in this game.

Sexy times might be hot or not depending on how much of a jaded degenerate you are. Catherine is a lusty bitch that can assume a loving, dominant or submissive role to fit the need, but for the most part it's basic sex with a few toys, tentacles and a little BSDM thrown in. The well written story dwarfs the lewds and the game is worth playing for that alone.

    no one in particular

Well I have played a decent amount of h- games i mostly go through the highest rated ones and this one by has the best writing and characters as a fan for fantasy not only do they do fantasy element justice but individual character is also explored better than some realistic character driven games, definitely one of the very few that makes you genuinely intrested in the characters, the porn is not bad but definitely arguably the weakest element of the game in comparison and could definitely could use some improvement but great otherwise

Now then, i am a fan of forgotten realms and everything based on them so a bunch of stuff in this game feels quite nostalgic to me, and i love it to pieces but i'll try to be neutral in my assessment of this little gem-in-the-making.

Outstanding story and characters, i sure as fuck do not often see such a high level writing. Whoever writes for this vn sure knows his shit. (There are a lot of typos in the text though, and the broken ui in some places doesn't do the storytelling any favors either (repeating or missing lines), i don't think the writer is native Eng speaker but he's doing fairly decent job as far as grammar is concerned, could be better though.)

Anyway, the story is great and the characters are great.
But, it's just a glorified electronic book at the moment.
I believe that a story of this caliber would have been better used to make a proper rpg on the level of stuff like Baldur's Gate series. With a story like this one, White Flower could be a serious contender to old legends like BG. (And i can't believe i of all people just said that something could possibly stack up to BG, your writing definitely left an impression bruh.)

And, judging by the non-working ui elements it would seem that at some point the devs agreed with me (or still agree?) Or, maybe something else is up since the game looks to me like it may have swapped the engines at some point and they're still dealing with the mess that was caused by this transfer. (Just a theory tho.)
Anyway, they are doing pretty good job with whatever it is they have in mind so i'm sure it'll shape into a better and better... VN? RPG? So far it's looking like a VN to me, we'll see what the future holds in store for this one.
But it does look promising indeed. :giggle: :coffee:

    Other notes:
*The art is great but sometimes we get mismatch with what is going on in the text so corrections may be needed.
*Sometimes the art overlaps with other art creating weird looking scenes so again, corrections needed.
*Background music is good but the game could use a couple variations in each stage. I swear if i keep hearing that tavern song any more than i already have... my head is going to explode. Also sometimes you hear it even in places like the old forest. A tavern song in old forest? Really? :ROFLMAO::coffee:
*Sex scenes are good but you should look into the possibility of animating them, at least partially. I noticed your weak attempts at semi-animation but they are just that - weak.

    ===========================================
    Well then, that's about it.
I hope you enjoyed my review. :giggle::coffee:

This has been a joy to play. I loved both the story and the writing as well as the art. There are very few grammatical errors and the narrative is interesting while not being overly convoluted. I am excited to see where this goes.

One of the best games here. Colorful characters, good humor, good renders, good story and most important of all, not another male MC fucking his mom and sisters with another generic plot.

Props to the dev team, really good work lads/ladies.

This game is amazing! I love the MC, and narrative choices allow the player to shift to the character to their taste. The story is rich and compelling. The various love/sex interests are varied and engaging. The art is beautiful. The sex scenes are hot. It reminds me of Unyielding, another great game in this vein, without the combat. I'm confident I will continue to enjoy this game as long as it's supported. Lucky you that get to play it for the first time.

Had a great time, good writing imo, sometimes maybe a tiny bit too much background informations for my taste (especially since you cant really use that informations for any purpose other than getting immersed in the game world). Still a 4.5 for me

    Version Played: Ch. 6 Public

Full disclosure, I didn't reach the end of this build, however I did play more than enough to form opinions of the game and hopefully give some others some insight.

To begin, the setting and theme of this game remind me of a fantastic H-manga series from my youth called "Spunky Knight."
I don't know if the devs are aware of or influenced by this manga, but the medieval setting and very..."open" female protagonist remind me a lot of it.

Another huge plus is the hand-drawn art. While not as technically proficient as even some of the other hand drawn games on here, it's better than passable and quite charming.
While the story and setting are interesting, I find there to be a bit too much of it, but ymmv.

    Positives:
    + ORIGINAL, 2D art
+ Pansexual, open for anything MC Catherine is awesome and sexy

    Negatives:
    - Maybe a little TOO much story for some
    - A bit too much futa/lesbian sex for my tastes.

Overall, while I'm not super enamored of the actual sexual content itself, the TLC put into the game, the original art and the setting make it a clear winner.

Like this? Try!: Seeds of Chaos, Summertime Saga (for the art), Long Live the Princess (for the setting)
Note to devs: I would love to see Catherine get up to more with men or even beastfolk! I would also love for the characters to have bush since that could (presumably) toggled when they are nude. I guess it would be a PITA to redraw all the sex scenes though...

    Axelshadow

A good game that I personally found with little flaws, and if there's, it's quite minor. Good characters, Good Sex Scenes, and a decently good story. It's a game that allows us to shape our MC to be a heroic Nympo Badass that doesn't take shits from anyone (except in sex play).

It's not a perfect game, some might become bored of all the story plot and writings, but it's a solid good game.

I didn't think this was bad but I found the characters and the story really hard to become invested in. If you don't enjoy story as much as lewd pictures then this shouldn't bother you, some very nice images to look at!

An excellent adult VN with a beautifully drawn art style set in a fun fantasy world with great writing.

The story and dialogue are fun with many likable characters and features multiple dialogue choices as well as romance options with well-written intimate scenes of various kinds. And while the game has plenty of well-visualized scenes most of the world-building is depicted through dialogue so the game is slightly text-heavy but easy and pleasant to read.

The music is nice and fitting, and the UI design is pleasant and very easy to use and navigate, with additional options such as changing the main character's party member's appearance.

Overall a fun and very pleasant both visually and writing-wise adult fantasy VN with light-hearted humor and tone with well-written adult content.
