I always thought it was kinda hilarious. Colonial era America *hated* King George .... yet, after they threw his shackles off, they left everything named after him. My home state of Georgia, within that state, the town of Kingsland (formerly known as King's Landing). Then, I guess they could've just said "It's all named after Washington, now" ... that's probably what they did, just to justify the laziness XD

If Americans tolerated the kind of day-to-day change needed to rename all that stuff, the US would have adopted the metric system long ago.

I'm Canadian we use both systems all the time... I much prefer the Imperial system

Same, but im assuming that's because it's all we used growing up. You just get used to it. But we do use metric in some things, most notably in machine bolts. Almost every bolt on my car is metric ... they do like to switch it up on a few of them though, just to keep things spicy. :ROFLMAO:

Hey everyone :)



So, as I mentioned previously, I began the most time consuming portion of the update first. Bringing the existing 15 animations up to 60 FPS, and adding new ones. As of now, I've completed 12 of the pre-existing animation upgrades, and one of the new ones. Only 4 to go, and then we can focus on the smaller stuff. Just thought I'd let everyone know. I'm *super* thrilled with how these animations are turning out! :)

Hey guys, putting some feelers out for opinions here. I have two different ways that the relationship bars can go. The way they appear in Kim's character sheet, or the way they appear in Cara's. Thoughts?

At the risk of being utterly unhelpful (sorry), either one looks fine to me. However...
  • What is this showing? The number of relationship points you've collected, from 0 to... an arbitrary maximum? The maximum number you can have in the current release? In the chapter I'm currently playing? Or does it go from negative to neutral to positive (in which case, what are the extremes?)? Should I worry if it's low?
  • There's a design element in the middle of the morality bar and in one version of the the relationship bar. What does it mean? Is that the neutral marker, with the left of it being negative morality/relationship and the right of it positive, or does it mark a threshold? (If it is purely visual design and does not signify anything, that would be an argument for the other style)
To be clear, these aren't problems - if I saw this in a game I'd just guess from context clues/ignore it and continue playing - but in the "Here's an UI mockup, thoughts?" context that's what popped into my brain :geek:

No worries :)

So, the bars are a 0-100 scale, due to planned the duration of the game, that number felt appropriate, and allows for easy math.

The bars are showing your relationship "score" with the other characters. And it varies for each. Kim may have a higher opinion of Sandra, than Sandra has of Kim, for example. Happens in real life all the time, so it made sense. And they represent the maximum and minimum scores you can have throughout the entire game.

If it's low in the beginning, that's fine. Kim's relationship level with Sandra starts pretty low, as they're strangers. Same with Cara -> Sandra. If it remains low throughout the story, or if Kim's relationship with Cara starts dropping like crazy, this will have outcomes in the game, yes.

The design element you're referring to on the bar is basically your mid-point. Call it 50. Call it "Neutral", but that's where that is.

Now, you may notice that Sandra is quite friendly with the other two characters, even with her lower relationship score. There's a plot reason behind that, that Sandra brings up a couple of times at camp. But that can and will change in future updates if the player chooses not to cultivate a relationship between any of the other characters and Sandra.

Well, you ask for it so... a bit of both :)

I like the look of the bar and the fact that there is the names of the characters in the first screen.
But I like the avatar in the second screen. It help the old timers with bad memory like me :). Even more when you switch from games to games between updates. When it's been a couple of months I play other games, then I return to one, it's sometime a bit difficult to remember all the characters.
I also prefer the colour red over purple, but it's only a matter of personal taste.

So, the avatar on the left, but with the bar of the first screen. And the character name just on top of the bar.
The only drawback will be that if there are a lot of characters, we have to scroll to see all the relationships.

hmm, if Kim`s relationship grow up to Sandra is it that Kim `s relationship to Cara drop ? or if Kim and Cara s relationship grown to Sandra higher at the same time and Sandra like Cara more but Cara dont give up Kim , because Kim is her love ( both love each other without limitation so i understand the first scene but Sandra as a new lover for both, i think in the scene in her hideout by change the clothes Cara is curious about Sandra and later, Kim spy on Sandra in her tent and get curious too ) I think they have a history, all three have her own experience in life as young girls and so only Kim and Cara meet and feel a related fate by Sandra but all have mad in history different experience of life , only Sandra trust no one because of her history and had no experience what is love to each other but now they see Cara and Kim, her bound of life and love. I dont understand why they cannot build a relationship without jealousy or a harem or one of the three are sub or dom. Simple lovers . But i know most like this not so it is only my opinion.

I like the second (Cara's) setup. It just seems more organic to see the pictures of who she is (presumably) thinking about when considering relationships. Less spreadsheety (if that was a word).

For this title, there will only be one more character added, and not until a good deal later. Totalling 5 main girls. Even with just the first 3 (kim cara and sandra) you still have to scroll with the portraits, but not too much. I was leaning more towards Kim's bars. Sometimes simpler is better, but we'll see what the majority opinion is :)

But, with the plot archs that haven't yet been revealed, there is absolutely a way to do it that makes sense. If the player goes that route, though, it won't be a "Harem." ... I like the idea of Harems, but (at least for now) I don't see a way to make it make sense with this particular set of characters.

It's a word now :ROFLMAO: But alright, so that gives one for Cara's style. And one for a mix. We'll see where the opinions continue to take us :) I always try to incorporate feedback where I can, and I'm always grateful for it! So thank you very much, Joe :D

I prefer it with their pictures. My main issue with that is having to scroll, but you said there will only be five girls so that isn't too much scrolling.

for this title, yeah, but once it's all said and done, there will be 10 (possibly 11) main characters. Might get a bit obnoxious at that point. But that's way down the road. We'll have to see how it goes.

Ok, thx for the answer. Good to know that all relationships are autonomous from other. Ok, if all 3 or 4 girls have a relationship among each other is it not like a Harem ( in a harem is most a MC male/female the leader ) if the girls love each other without preference on only girl more ( leader ) i think, that make sens with your characters, all are first stand-alone but a friendship can grow slow and perhaps love too.

Hey everyone, here with an update. So, I'm rendering the final animation now. I *was* going to leave it alone, since it was already animated before - albeit at 15FPS - but when compared to the others that have been upgraded ... it just no longer fit. The difference is too noticeable. It's gonna take a while, but I'm writing the content update that will follow this one as that animation is rendering, so that'll save a lot of time on the backend after this patch is done :) Just wanted to keep everyone posted :D
