Heya Bobo,

Could you be more specific? Pretty much all of my shots are only done once, and then maybe a pass through some post work, but most of the time that only requires denoising. Sometimes layering, but not often. (And many thanks for the compliment! :D )
There is a number of samples tab in the render settings (5000 by default). And also, do you disable the stop rendering tab to achieve quality?

Ah, I gotcha. It depends on the scene, really, but my standard operating practice is Quality 1, Unlock the "max iterations" and set it to something stupid it'll never hit, like 500,000, set max time to 0 (to make it infinite) and just let it go until 95% ... in most cases, 95% convergence and 1x quality does the trick. For the extra special scenes (most notable my supporter galleries), i ramp the quality to 5x, and the convergence to 99% (no one can tell the difference in that last FIVE percent, most of the time, let alone the last one.) And I get really "back to school" on fancy lighting principles :p

But it could be the tone mapping. I tone map most of my shots to make them a bit darker. It feels like they just "pop" better, to me that way.

Then it could also have something to do with me rendering the game in 2K, as opposed to 1080p. Some people give me flak for that ... but i don't care. I get that most people don't have anything higher than a 1080p monitor/screen. But Ren'Py supports oversampling for those cases, which basically acts as a second round of denoising.

I'm sure it's a combination of things, but those are the things I do that come to mind :)

Hey everyone!



Just stopping in to share progress on the next content update, v. 0.2.1.5. So, this is kinda crazy, but ..... it's pretty much done. Render wise, that is. I should be done rendering the update by Friday. End of the weekend at the latest. After that, I'd probably guesstimate 2 weeks for production. Sounds, music, transitions, voices, etc. ... On the subject of voices, I had previously discussed that i would release the game partially unvoiced, if waiting on the voice work to come back would otherwise delay the release. This remains true, just so everyone knows :)



So, optimistically, we're looking at early release at the end of November. :)



Per the update itself, it isn't necessarily small, but it is a little smaller than the previous content update. I've already explained why that is (the size of the update that's coming right on it's heels - it's massive).

Hey everyone! Progress Update on 0.2.1.5!:

Alrighty, rendering is complete. Voices are all added in. I've got 2 of the scenes from the update fully outfitted with sounds and music, continuing with that tomorrow. On the subject of voices again, it is quite likely that this update is going to be released without the last scene or two voiced, due to conflicts with Claire's schedule. I'll get those added in once she's available again. :) Hope that isn't too jarring for anyone.
