Well I just came back after going out of town for a few days and there's already a new game developer in the town! And what a lovely name they choose for their new company. Surely they can't choose a worse name isn't it? LOL.
Ah well, at least they keep their "innovative" motto.
Also their new games with familiar title and anime aesthetic sure feels like they choose a "safe" route to launch their new game, given how popular Koikatsu series are.
OTOH the anime aesthetic games they launch is seems like still in-sync with their old tick-tock product launch cycle (anime aesthetic->real aesthetic->anime aesthetic->real aesthetic). So while I'm not really interested in Honey Come, I'm looking forward for the real aesthetic games after this.

I'm the other way, I would take KK and AA over Honey Select and say Play series any day of the week.
What does the update include? I have the base download from page 1. I'm looking for camera auto rotate, I'd have thought this basic option would be available somewhere?

Kinda interesting, they don't even try to hid that they're Illusion. The UI and all that is pretty much the same. Some upgrades from Room Girl are missing, though. Like being able to just maximise the window.
The models look ok, but wouldn't have said the previous look bad anyway. If anything it's their sliders that need upgrades, still have no idea how to make good cheeks. 10 sliders for the cheeks, all do something, non do what I need.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I have the wherewithal to do all that as I already got the game from page 1. I suppose there isn't anything I can do with the game from page one, would ge smaller update on page 1 that's is around 500mb contain much if anything including rotating camera?
I tried room girl a few times but I honestly didn't see the appeal of it after two hours or so. I mean, what's the endgame? You need to go through all that boring stuff to get... what? Are there new scenes or poses that you can unlock when you get to a certain level in your relationships? Can you "corrupt" a character, or break it? Is there something interesting to do that you can't in the first hours after just a few clicks and the first sex scenes?
If not, if what I played is everything there is, I have to wonder... what the fuck. The entire point of the set is missing. This feels like something way lazier than the early 00s games from Illusion, it's just a background to have sex animations.

The main idea behind Room Girls is to simulate a relationship between people in a "room", whether it is in an office, an open bath, a concert backstage or even in their own private room. There's no intended goal or ending. The sole purpose of this game is to make you enjoy the interaction between characters within the bounds of personality trait that you can set to your heart content, with sex as delicious side dish. If you play Jinkou Gakuen/Artificial Academy 12 years ago, then this game is the lighter, "boxed" version of it with modernized UI and graphics.
The problem with the Room Girl is the devs opt to casual gameplay, removing many challenge and obstacle in order not to inconvenience or "offense" casual player. This is a known pattern from the late stage Illusion Soft games in which they soften their "dark" games over time to cater to casual player. The consequence of this is the games then feels soooo "boring", so "vanilla", too "easy".
As a interaction simulator games, Room Girls lack "negative" trait to spice up interaction. There is only slight dislike or defined preferences between character traits and professions, but no jealousy, no hate, no angry, no scold. Everything is so easy, open promiscuity for all. Contrast this to Jinkou Gakuen (AA) which have all of aforementioned negative traits and then some. In AA you have to be careful how you behave yourself, how you treat people around you, else you'll get in trouble, getting scolded, punched in the face, or even outright murdered.
Sex, taken directly from AA, should be the fruit of labor of all the interaction and character building. It should be hard to get. It should be the ultimate reward. You should be working hard to impress your coworker/colleague in order to get inside their pants literally. Instead, the devs make it all too easy, just talk a few times and you get sex. Contrast this to AA while you really have to build your rapport with the girls to made them consider you're a good breeding partner. This makes it more appealing to the "casual", err, lazy gamer to connect with this game, but then leave us real gamer boring to death.
Past first sex, taken again directly from AA, should also be challenging to maintenance. You shouldn't abandon your lover. You should maintain your relationship or else you face the bad consequences. In AA the girls can dump you if they found you're a cheating mf. But in Room Girls there is none, you're free to go with anyone, anytime and doing sex anywhere with almost none negative consequences.
In AA, you can "corrupt" a very conservative girl with continued training but not to the same level as a base slutty girl. In AA girls behave exactly like their defined personality, but you and other characters can also intervene. In AA, the girls feels alive because they all have defined and distinct personality. In Room Girls they don't even have a very defined personal trait. Everything feels samey-samey.
All in all, Room Girls looks like an attempt by Illusion team to go back to their roots as a great character interaction & sex sim maker. This game could be the "renaissance" moment for Illusion, because frankly Room Girls, for me at least, have the best and most mature character creation. It's so easy creating many type of gorgeous woman. But they failed it all by catering to the casual audience. They should have just sold the studio ver. and stop calling it 3D Life Simulator.
Great write up on what they seem to have tried, but why it failed.
The only thing I would count is that even casual players don't want simple mechanics. In my experience casual players want the same depth as anyone else. What makes the difference between casual and "hardcore" gamers is the time they're willing to invest to learn those mechanics.
As casual game wants that their character gets rejected if they fuck up a, say, a chat minigame.
But what they also want is to know why they failed.
A core gamer may invest the time, and try, try again, to learn that you need to select certain options only is said game, and learns how to tell which options are the right ones. The casual just wants to game to tell them that that choice was bad (girl looks clearly disgusted), and then remembers this for them later on so the choice is now colored red.
Games like The Sims, or Baldurs Gate are quite complex, but they still achieve a great popularity (also among casuals) because they're easy to understand.
Why is my Sim angry? Oh, he has a red thingy there. It says he had a bad conversation. What can I do about it? There is a red option in the Toilet menu. Time for an Angry Poop. All the player has to do is read the red icon and then click the red options.
Illusion never got anywhere near with their games when it comes to understandability. And that's why they failed to achieve a broader market. Not because they were too complex, or too simple. Their user experience just sucks.
PS: Koikatsu Sunshine was so terrible with that conversation minigame, were you had to farm conversation topics, but they're completely random. Randomness can be fun, but that wasn't it.
Yeah thats correct. You must lvl caracters to certain lvl to unlock scenes inside as Game mode. Try free H mode for test content.
Cheats will unlock money stats and relation system between npc and registed caracthers.
like I say : illusiom games have sex content ! The hardest thing for creation is background story.
Have you ever see a good porn movie with 10 minutes of good story...and 80 minutes of sex???

Iluusion games are always about girls, school, hotel, etc all based on japanese culture....
Sims mode in room girl is the most real aproach to reality.

Without gameplay to buffer it, just sex gets boring real fast. Illusion was always special just because it was the closest thing to a AAA H game dev, but it feels like they put all the effort into the character creators and none into the actual gameplay. Considering their outrageous prices and the fact they never sold outside of Japan until very recently, obviously piracy became the norm. I'm disappointed, but not surprised they are going out of business. Maybe they should have started a patreon lol. Really wish they'd just given us AA3.
Sorry if asked before but what am I missing here? Tried new game but wanted to make my own character and yet it wont work as main character only shows up for side actors. I tried making them office girl but still not visible for the choices.
I believe personality type determines where they can be placed. ie dealer can only be placed at the casino etc.
