I always wonder why they wont just put out the games in english as well. These games do not have that much text anyway, why is it so hard to translate it? They do not seem that low budget to me.
its not about how easy it is to translate it or not. But if its worth the money for them to spend on a proper translator and a marketing team to handle oversea sails. Since JP consumers are different when it comes to western consumers, they're way less predictable.
When it comes to Japanese porn games. Selling overseas is an iffy thing. Let alone games that maybe takes a good amount of resources to make.
Unless its a more popular product that they can easily see themselves selling well, like a lot of the Soft games. They feel more safe just selling in their own bubble than outside of it.
Why do you think a good number of games are MTL only? Cus developers dont want to waste too much money or time selling their game when they know it wont get that much attention.
Kagura games is a good example of a marketing/translation team that knows both markets. And they choose indie developers at most which is easier to handle than an established company.
Its understandable that this isnt easy to get. As someone who at least understand basic marketing and have been in the weeb life since almost forever, i can grasp the basics for the reasoning why things are the way they seem.
