Something I notice gameplay... gameeconomywise, after doing the Ork quest...

The player income seems specifically designed to match what the player needs and nothing more. Tried the Orks without upgrading my kit, got my ass beaten, upgraded my kit after grinding money in the tavern until I got fired, carefully sold everything I didn't need, and could just barely afford (with a hundred and change G remaining) the optimum kit.

Only game I've seen this kind of income planning in other than 1993's Link's Awakening (which did allow infinite grinding if you wanted to, but if you did everything ASAP with no grinding and didn't skip any chests, the game would always provide you with the funds you needed, exactly when you needed them. Until the DX & later Switch version fucked this up, at any rate).

I think it helps with immersion relative to the usual infinite funds, and I appreciate it.
Thanks. I can't pretend that I'll be perfect at keeping just above the threshold to get the best equipment throughout the entire game but it is a development goal. I probably won't ever get to the point where I keep a spreadsheet open and work out the exact numbers in order to give enemies and quests precisely enough gold to buy equipment (shut up, brain, stop giving me ideas!) but I do intend to design this with some semblance of scarcity in mind.

I did notice the fade-out indeed. iirc, Ellanon's bedroom is indeed scrolled off-screen when I enter the ready room. But since the fade-out doesn't feel like a time gap, it still feels like her being at two places at the same time. Perhaps not having her in her room at that time would make a more suitable work-around?

I'm surprised to find you mention a dress-up system? I never got Sadie into any other wear, or without any wear at all, for that matter. But lore-wise, that would partly be due to her prudeness yet ofc.

There's also a scene where she mentions that she needs to change her panties (after the duel with the nobleman's son, iirc). But is she wearing any at all, then?

Also, it would be nice if the stats menu for each character had a page to check at which levels their abilities are. I myself am one that wants to take that in account during fights, so that I can keep them balanced.

Am I right in thinking that the current content ends after doing the first quest for the Isekai Order?
Understood on the ready room. I'll think about whether there's a better way of showing scenes that doesn't break immersion too badly.

There isn't a dress-up system implemented in the game yet. In an upcoming release (0.2.3), Sadie will get a new outfit that she'll wear on certain special occasions. I'm planning to take this idea a bit further over time and eventually implement a more proper dress-up mechanic for her (TBD on when exactly that comes out). I don't expect it to be too wild given the way that I'm crafting images for CGs--because I don't do a paper doll style nude base image + clothing on top for the AI CGs, I'm not able to swap out clothing sets arbitrarily. But I would expect to see, for example, a custom scene or two with Outfit A, a custom scene or two with Outfit B, etc. And for some of the more daring outfits, I'd expect that there would be reactions from people around her. But I don't want to sell this up as a major mechanic or an avenue for utter mind-broken debauchery. I do anticipate that she'll have her fun, but the probability of Sadie walking down main street buck naked, covered in semen, and begging for cock is extremely close to zero. There's a proper time and place for that.

Sadie always wears panties--except when she forgets to, when it's too warm outside, when she doesn't want unsightly underwear lines on her clothes, when they're in the wash, and probably a few more reasons too. But other than that, she always wears panties.

You can check each character's skill level in the Skills menu, right below Quests in the main menu (and different from the Skill menu that's below Item). Right now, it doesn't tell you which character you're looking at, but the specific set of skills should let you know quickly. Use the Q and W keys to switch between characters or the arrows if you have Touch UI enabled. I do need to add character names and busts to that menu. That's probably going into version 0.2.3. I'll look at whether I can add current skill level to the display of each skill during combat as well so that you can see the skill level and experience when choosing skills in combat or in the out-of-combat skill use menu. If I can get it to show up properly, that'd also be a 0.2.3 improvement.

There is a second Isekai Order quest in 0.2.1. After you go visit the Isekai Order HQ, you'll have a chat with Marcus, the leader of the Order. Then, talk to the receptionist and she'll tell you about a quest. Over the next several releases, there will be multiple quests available from the Order and their receptionist will tell you about them.

That's a bit rough. If you zip up your save file and post it here, I'll do a bit of behind the scenes cheatery to help get through this mission.

Help, please, how do I get to the Academic District?
You can reach it from the northeastern corner of the Noble district, which is itself accessible by heading north in the Religious District. There's a fast travel crystal in the upper right corner of the Noble district and another in the Academic district itself to avoid having to walk too far once you do get there the first time.

Hi, sorry. Normally, I am quite good at this type of game, but I'm having trouble finding any new missions. I am in the place, having completed the 8 missions from the guild and the knight one. Are there any more? Is that the end of this update?

At this point, there are 8 Guild quests, two Isekai Order quests, and there is one that you can get when you talk to Lexi either in the Inn or in the Diplomatic Quarters (if you've already moved there) and you've completed 6 Guild quests. This one asks you to go to the Police Substation and starts a quest to gain another party member.

The main areas to get quests are:

1. The Adventurers' Guild board.
2. The Diplomatic Quarters. Walk down to the ready room (bottom right corner) and there may be a scene that unfolds. If you don't see a scene, go to sleep and try again. That can trigger a new scene occurring, as I try to keep missions staggered a bit by having Sadie go to sleep to represent time lapse.
3. Waking up, especially in the Diplomatic Quarters. Sometimes people will come to Sadie.
4. Isekai Order Headquarters, after you've finished the first mission to talk to the potential Isekai Hero in Svetlanda.

There will be a few other avenues where new quests will pop up in the next several releases, but these are the main places to look.

Thank you for the detailed thoughts. There probably won't be anything in the short term (next few releases) but I absolutely appreciate you sharing your thoughts and I'll keep it in mind during development. At some point in the medium term, I do plan to tackle trying to incentivize using more skills and skill combinations, and this kind of feedback is very useful.
I think a good idea and medium fix would be that half of the lower skill goes into the next level. Like: Heal 1 and Rank 8 adds 4 Ranks to Heal 2..
That way you still get a bonus and swapping makes sense, and it's faster to level up the newer skill, but it's not a worse choice and it doesn't feel like you wasted your time leveling Heal 1.

That's a possibility, yeah, and thank you for the idea. Right now, I have plans for a major revision of combat in 0.3.0 (roughly 5-6 months from now at my current pace). I plan to make adjustments to how skill levels operate as part of that revision. I'm batting around a few ideas like maxing out Heal 1 introduces Heal 2, or Heal 2 at Level 0 is equivalent to Heal 1 at level 7-8, or your suggestion of auto-starting at some level based on prior skill usage. I imagine I'll have a lot more to say when I start the run-up to 0.3.0's sprint planning.

Awesome, I would even go further than this: Leveling Heal 1 (while still below max) should still give half to Heal 2 (and in turn a quarter to Heal 3, 1/8 to Heal 4). That way it still pays somewhat to use Heal 1 in battle, for lower healing needs. Otherwise players would just use Heal 2 regardless (just to level it) making Heal 1 a dead option for most of them. If it still levels Heal 2, it's way more likely to be used, since it doesn't feel 'wasteful' to the player.

Sorry to annoy you with this, I have thought about this for weeks already ever since I finished the 0.15 beta. It hasn't left my mind for some reason. (Guess your game had an impact on me)

I did greatly enjoy Ellanon's explanation of the village's status between the Human- and Monster realm, constantly switching sides and nobody really caring unless it's tax time. Many a premodern village had that kinda issue.

This being said, a small bug in the zombie mansion. The right-side stairs that lead up to the barricades on floor one give you the message that they can't continue, the tower's been barricaded... when trying to leave through the stairs going down.

It's not a softlock since you can just continue after the message, but it takes one a little aback.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was going for with the village depiction, though Ellanon can be a bit jaded about things, it seems.

Much appreciated on reporting the annoyance. I've added it to the backlog to make that experience smoother.

Not an annoyance at all. I do like getting the perspective of people taking the time to play the game. My ideal is to make it strategically interesting to use decide when to use Heal 1 vs Heal 2 or Recover 1 vs Recover 2, while also maintaining the concept of improvement over time with these skills. For heal spells in particular, I might even cut out Heal 2 and Recover 2 altogether, leaving just Heal and Recover--that's also something I've thought about along the way. There's a lot for me to noodle over while working through Svetlanda and Eastern Duchy content.

Minor things:
  • after the well quest in the village, you can talk to Ellanon again immediately after she tells you to talk to the villagers to see if they changed their minds; Sadie will act like she already talked to the villagers. Should probably require chatting up at least one villager before triggering Sadie's reaction, with Ellanon just urging her on
  • a non-interactable Ellanon is in Sadie's Inn room in Svetlanda straight from the start, when Ellanon is still wandering the city with Sadie. Que?
  • The armoured legs on two of the enslaved kids are kind of weird. Shit's expensive
  • Dinistra's Blow of Rage description might be missing a 'You'. 'They may have adopted the rage, [you] were born in the rage' was meant, I think
Also, is it wrong that I want Allison as a party member? Special attacks Resting Bitch Face (Passive; Reflects attack back on the enemy), Contemptuous Glare & Permit A38 (Status Effect: Confusion). Magic Piercing Gaze (Info on enemy stats)

I may or may not really like Allison.

I also feel like I might want to give Leonidas a ride. You know. Just to try him out a little bit...

And Neemar. Dude's loyal to a fault and capable. He deserves a reward, goblin or not.

And I can definitely see why the cops are located in the merchant district.

Is Sadie... a perverted, bloodlusty version of Katarina Claes? Isekai'd, loves romance novels (from the chat with the shopkeeper)...
