I don't understand the direction here, is there any commentary (from the author) on why the entire game keeps getting remade over and over to such extent? The combat itself is mostly improved compared to ver15, but uh... why did we throw out the the old world structure?
I'll echo smegma in that this is a rather disappointing update, and unless there's some serious improvements, I might just have to stick with version 14 or 15 if I ever wish to revisit this title.

I originally found this game pretty early on and loved it and the constant updates every month was really nice! Then the first big gap came along as the card system was being brought in and I was like ok that's fine that's a pretty big change, then it came out super buggy that's fine one person can only do so much Vel will polish it up and it will be better, then another huge gap ok next update is going to be a big one adding new story....reworks entire game just to make it a glorified Vn....I'm sorry but this ain't it chief not only does this update have significantly less content then before taking like 2 minutes to beat if you skip dialog but now all the RPG elements that made this game fun including the open worldness of it are just gone I may come back after a few updates and see what it's like but I've pretty much lost hope for this game and with how great it was before just really bums me out :/

While I loved all the previous versions I'm going to comment on this new version how it is, so we can hopefully see some improvement.

Combat: Honestly, I have really liked how the combat is playing out now. It's still challenging, but after understanding it the first few fights become pretty easy should you think about your actions. I have no idea what the heat or mood system is for, as we are not able to interact with these systems much at all. I know depending on your mood Saria will become hornier throughout the fight like previous versions, and I believe that has an influence if the enemy attacks or tries a mind reduction move. Since mind is not recoverable you are essentially on a clock after your mood increases, as once it is zero you lose the fight and go to the sex cutscene. It feels very and fluid and responsive with only a few bugs I will mention at the end. I really want more ways to interact with sequences and heat though, as it's very bare bones for now. Fights for now are just understanding what does 2x and 0.5x damage and swapping effectively.

One gripe with the combat is it can be a little RNG dependent. Against the jailer if he performs a few specific attacks in sequence one back to back even playing as safe as I could against him I found it very unwinnable. This might become a reoccurring problem for future enemies should we not have a way to interact with the sequence or at least give us better ways to consistently move first (similar to initation in D&D)

Another gripe I have is lack of explanation. I am only given how slash interacts with every other system and have to figure out the rest myself, but because I believe enemies will have varience damage I do not know the combat system and have no way to actively figuring it out myself except with very repetitive trial and error. (For any wondering every attack has a 2.0x multiplyer on the same stance, rest still unsure)

Story: While I wish we had more choice between now what seems like a binary maiden or corrupted slut, I do enjoy the story more focused like this. Previous versions added some world building through exploration, but with how it was spaced out it, it felt very bare bones and inconsistent with pointless areas other than get a special item that might not do much. I think the entirety of the game will be improved by this more focused approach.

Sexy stuff: Putting this here, as it feels separate pretty separate from combat for now. All the CGs and artwork are still top tier like previous versions. The new CGs for every battle loss and in between decisions add a lot personally rather than seeing the same commented about her tits cut-in. Because it feels separate from combat though, it does not feel like we can lean into the corruption except with those choices that so far only let us skip one fight. You either play to your best and maiden it or take losses to see the scenes and continue/reload.

Bugs: 1. So far one bug I've found is I'm able to edit and completely remove enemies attacks if it is the last move in the sequence by clicking on it and clicking the empty space where my moves would be. My moves then replace theirs and the enemy does not perform an action. 2. Another is the cut in for losing battle 1-1, after losing it one of the cocks and cum they spray on Saria during the CG stay on my scene indefinitely. Saving with it like this and reloading did fix the issue, so not sure if it's an event not closing or what to help.

Comparison: This section will be soley dedicated to comparing this new version to the legacy. Personally, I did perfer the open world but I can completely understand how this hurts development and why you took the game in this direction. I hate how little content there is compared though. I really enjoyed the side job aspect which will probably not be able to return unless we gain more player freedom after completing the act and rescuing our party. I know content will only grow with time, so I am not that disappointed in it and hope it will only get better with time.

Could not disagree more. That moment in the old versions you leave the village and head out into a barren wasteland and then eventually the SMS Gneisenau, together with the accompanying music, was a highlight that could never work in a VN format. Same with entering Cardinal's Heart for the first time. Both events were significant enough that I committed them to memory and care more about this as a regular game and the porn/corruption was more a nice-to-have.

All of that is gone now because choosing an Act and pressing space just does not have the same impact as actively moving a character from A to B.

I pick out only that paragraph because the rest of what you said is fairly solid.

Man, talking about a huge step back in content...the new Art for the events / "lewd attacks" from enemies is as good as ever. But very little new content, with another overhaul of how combat works and the game itself is designed. Going from exploration to a Visual Novel kinda deal. Despite me being let down by the lack of new content, i am not against the new system. It could work out well. BUT if we lose "in battle H - Scenes" for it, that's not worth it imho. We shall see what the future brings.

I am hoping this is more of a demo/story concept approach and later we will have actual maps to roam, enemy battles(fitting to story zone,) card unlock features, clothing unlocks, and everything else combat fuck included that was in prior updates that were updated. Then again. This is a very 'hopeful' wish. If not. I guess there is the other game like KP known as Space Love or whatever that gets updated once in a blue moon.

Agreed. Granted, despite jumping off of this game when I realized the card-system is in. Though I cannot lament on the combat change, especially when the dev put up a poll for either the og system or the card system. The latter won by a landslide.

Though I am also willing to bet the card combat system caused so much problems due to mechanics were probably designed with the original system in mind (plus the lust and willpower coding), then add the possible fuckery once the massage parlor came in which probably added additional problems. Not that either are bad ideas, just saying it wouldn't surprise me that there were conflicts that couldn't have gone untangled until a full remake is warranted.

That said, I still wanted this game to be good. I still can see that, the problem is that the dev is fighting a uphill and discouraging battle to keep the game's fans that aren't just here for the smut.

i really like the art in the update but man the game is just gutted now. please bring back the map and battle H. I dont mind the new story but I'd rather see that story get integrated with the old exploration and rpg system.

It'd be really cool if each of these chapter battles in .16 were just "boss" content after exploring a level so you have the best of both worlds instead of the super on-rails VN.
