Feels like the dev could have avoided a lot of sanity loss by giving it just a semi-decent ending, even if much earlier than advertised, and starting up a VN as a sequel/reboot.. Would have been disappointing for sure, but a lot more people would have stuck through than the car wreck this is turning out to be. Neutering his own community for criticizing his choice isn't a good sign either, though harassment is another matter.

The itch.io comments have since been disabled, but while they were working people were leaving many reviews with actual criticisms about the change to a VN. I myself left one saying that the sudden change was a real scummy move to patreons. I checked again today and I found out a week ago the comments were disabled.
For reference this update came out around two weeks ago for everyone on discord and itch.io. It's only really being posted here now.

The itch.io comments back then were mostly pretty tame. Of course there were a few people mad with 5 word reviews and 1 stars but I saw many well worded comments back then. (maybe it got worse since then idk)

There's a few points others have said that I want to echo:
Yes, this is a pirate site but that doesn't negate our experience. People put a lot of time into writing in-depth reviews, answering questions, and helping players progress. It's a community tarnished by the idea that everyone is a freeloading pirate and nothing more. I supported and bought games because I found them here.
Yes, this is a porn game but that doesn't mean it needs to be mindless smut. Play something that has a deep story, interesting characters, and invest more than sticky tissues into it. Dismissing it as "a porn game" leads to settling for mediocrity.
Yes, the dev can do what they want... but they're also duping their supporters who didn't pledge for this entirely new direction. It's also unfair to those that legitimately enjoy the initial vision of the game. Having a legacy version is bizarre.
No, giving constructive criticism is not hate. A lot of "defenders" seem to view any post that disagrees with them as a personal attack. Feedback is vital for any creative project, especially if you're taking people's money. Some here were paying.
I understand why some devs and their loyal fanbase dislike coming here: we can be blunt, may seem ungrateful, and they can't delete comments they disagree with. That's why some devs try to foster a positive presence and it tends to be successful... not so much here. I'm rather bummed out to learn it's a VN. Maybe I should type out a Book of Grudges or the Malum Historia and just keep marking the long long list of scummy, unfair, suspicious, or outright malicious acts these (mostly western, by the way) patraeon games have all done, then just link to it everything a new game pops up or someone tries to defend one, lmao.
Aaaaaaaaaanyway, remaster/remaking/upgrading-to-new-engine is an incredibly common tick, so que eyeroll, I guess. Of course, maybe it wasn't intentionally malicious, but I mean, if I were a supporter I'd be hella salty right now. Throwing away all that work and setting the clock back to zero for a game you've played spent more on that it'll cost on release, if it ever releases...
Every time I ask why, I remember the heartbreaking monetization research statistics saying that on average less than 3% of a monetized game's population accounts for over 40% of its revenue...

I'm so salty about Karryn's Prison. Wait, don't lynch me, I know It's an objectively great game, please, it's just me. I just wish we had a few options of warden to choose from or maybe some more saucy DLC, tentacle prison reminded me a lot of KP's when I played through it. KP's gameplay loop is really, really good for a pron game though, so I wish I enjoyed it more.

I mean, I don't get the "it's a pirate site" argument, this has been dealt with to death. A lot of 'pirates' only 'pirate' literally because toxic backhanded shiz like this is so common, games release broken and unfinished, and demos are so rare.
I myself pirate everything at first, but if the game actually releases in a complete state and I like it, then I buy it. If I don't, then no one loses anything. I wouldn't have played it anyway because I don't like it and now I don't lose my doubloons just to find that out... I also don't like the idea of spending $300 over 10 years or whatever for a game that might never come out that will cost $15 at release...
And anyone who actually pirate-pirates your game never would have bought it anyway, so you lose nothing, but have the potential to gain organic orbital sells through world of mouth, because even pirates usually join in the game's discourse.
That was why the suppressed UK research into pirating found pirating wasn't only non-harmful, it could actually be beneficial in some cases.
What is even going on anymore? Everytime I see this game on the recently updated list its the same name but a completely different game.

It's not bad if you consider it an alpha version. The UI is atrocious though. Still a bad move methinks.
I played this game when it first showed up and then again a little while back and really liked direction it was going and now it has completly turned and lost what made this game interesting. I guess I will wait and see what will become of this game but I am disappointed. Talk about a heel turn huh.
There isn't a single discord server that does not eventually turn into admin ass lickers club.
