How quickly this went from a very promising successor to Karryn's Prison to a disgraced, nearly unrecognizable piece of shit, to (maybe) finally be buried in the mass grave of failed patreon projects. Someone ought to do a case study on it.
Why do you need a case study? The signs are pretty obvious and the fix is even more so,dont support games that are in progress, especially if its a porn game.

Damn, I remember when this game was first posted on this site and was recieved super well, kinda sad to see it go through a controversy like this but hopefully this dev will (eventually) cook up something really good, they seem to have an interesting creative style. Anyway, MC is super hot, very cool and striking design.

i played one of the first versions of demo karryn's prison and it had content, art and could play up to the fat orc boss from day 1. this never had and will never have any content. it may be bad for new and upocoming devs and promising projects but i think unless you could match what karryn's prison had on the first demo you should probably wait for a full year to see what a dev's intentions are with the game before you consider a even looking at their patreon. i myself have been slogging with a non porn project for a year and been spending on art assets here and there about 2k total. every time i see a patreon project go on for years making 4k+ a month on patreon i just cringe. there's no way an rpgm game with under 1000 unique drawings takes 5 years or more to produce.

Huh? Must of missed something. I played it pre-rework and I remember enjoying the world building more than the gameplay and scenes. I wonder if it's more too my liking now. I skimmed over the controversy, and I sorta see the issue. It's really risky for new game dev to open up patreon, because that makes you directly accountable to the fan's expectations, which is a lot of pressure. If I ever make an ero game I'm just gonna post it for free so that there's no expectations and I can just make a game for me and not worry about creating drama by being slow to develop or changing direction.

This is retardation on my part. But theoretically, if a supporter took the time out of their day to do this. Could Velminth technically be able to be held legally liable? He more or less gave people false promises and got paid a shit load of money for those two years working on the game with the expected trajectory and eventual end result, only to bait and switch the whole thing.

You may say 'It's just a porn game!' but when it comes to money, the courts take that shit seriously, especially when the dude was getting thousands a month. Again I don't think it would be open and shut, but I do think it would cause deliberation in a courtroom setting.

I would be surprised if this held up at all. Mostly, since it's not necessarily a "crowdfunded game". This would likely be labeled as a monthly service rather than purchasing a specific good. If anyone had paid an outright fee for a specifically advertised good, it'd be different. For better or worse, Patreon subscriptions are just that, they're subscriptions to artists and whatever work they produce. No refunds, no take-backsies.

Patreon is very much about supporting the artist rather than a particular project. Yeah, it sometimes gets advertised as a bit of a pre-order, but that's very much not what it is. It is about giving a creator the means to, you know, keep creating. Trying to sue an author for changing their mind on a project would either be laughed out of court (like suing a writer because you didn't like the ending of a novel series--or because they dropped the series after you bought the first few books) or, in the one-in-a-million chance that you found a judge insane enough to rule against the author (likely an ex-supporter of MILFY City), it would just force the entire ecosystem to make things incredibly hard for the other authors.

And no, I'm not talking about holding them "accountable," but about having to implement hoops to jump through that, in the end, would still not guarantee a finished product. Being a creator is hard, hard work, and it's impossible to guarantee anything. When multimillion-dollar corporations keep making flops or disappointing sequels despite having hundreds of veteran and talented employees devoted to a project, it's bewildering to think that a single, sole person in charge of a project can always be on point and never do anything other than perform at 100%.

Honestly, from my own perspective as somebody doing this just on the writing side of things? While the current state of the game is very disappointing, and I disagree with how it's been handled, for a first try at this, what was accomplished was near a miracle. It is highly praiseworthy, and I wish the best to Velminth in recovering from whatever it is that caused his loss of perspective.

I understand the shaky ground such a case would make, but at the same time I don't think it would be laughed out, similarly you can't say it's like an abandoned novel or hating the ending. A better comparison is "Expecting a hard sci-fi novel and instead you get a very fast and loose fantasy novel because the author decided to scrap the whole original book." There was financial backing under the expectation this game was going to be made in the way that it was originally, and this is where a significant portion of his patreon revenue came from—but the dev, out of obvious apathy and possibly to an extent, malice. Decided to completely change the game, this is different from making a flop or a disappointing title. This is giving money to support the creation of a product with the expectations of the general road map going forward—only for him to completely bait and switch it. Again, I'm not arguing if such a case would lead to a plaintiff being victorious, but a judge letting it actually come to trial.

The few issues I'm seeing with a lawsuit is, "Is the financial loss large enough to warrant?" Because no matter what, if hundreds of thousands of dollars were gone to waste, then I think a judge would more likely taken the time out of his day to look at it. Yet I don't think Velminth was necessarily making large enough bank.

The second issue; I don't think anyone wants to have their name publicly exposed to represent being scammed for a porn game unless the guy really didn't care about his public reputation.

In my brain, I'm seeing this similar to how the small Kickstarter scams from the mid-2010's wound up. The cost for a lawyer, mixed with a relatively paltry sum would either make it not worthwhile to seek any kind of litigation, but I think if someone attempted it, a judge would give a half-hearted hearing.

Again, I'm not saying it would be good for this to happen, because making new precedents in court usually only end up bad in most cases and you don't want single man or small teamed content creators to have the government breathing down their necks, like you said.

If something were to happen, I think this would be around the first time someone's actually sued over something like this.

Does anyone know how to convert the game files to png? There is no gallery section.
there is, and isn't.

iirc, most of the in battle pics are composite, not just, a normal picture. if saria's jerking a dick off, her body pic is maybe the same, but her facial expressions might be another pic, so it won't work out like you think, i think (or at least for me, her face will load before her body)

as for a gallery, there is one for the game over scenes (and jobs). it's in the town that's basically at the end of chapter 1. you can both unlock it's scenes, as well as teleport to it, via the cheat menu.
there will be a dude in a booth, with a lamia (snake lady) on the right. you can talk to him to see the scenes.

for me, when i want to, ah, 'enjoy' the game, i've got two saves in between the start and the city, and one in the city.
if i'm trying to see the in battle animations, i just load one of those previous saves, and interact with enemies.
if i want to see the lose cutscenes, i'll go to the city.

your best bet is to use a previous game version (0.15 preferably) and to go to img/pictures/saria and use

Or just download which contains all of the images of scenes and combat CG's that I bothered decrypting. (P.S Winrar/7zip is needed to decrypt the files. Lastly, no I did not forget any of the "questionable" content. I am not into that, so I didn't bother decrypting it. Feel free to do that on your own. You will have to overlay faces on top of images, you can do that using .

I don’t know if it is still there or not, because I’m not. Velminth art dumped the entire game on the discord server. All CGs and multiple variations of several.
Yeah, i can't find the developer's valid discord link. I don't keep a track about the developer's doing, got no idea.

How to beat the 4-th boss in gripping iron? He just oneshots 10 hp of Saria, how to deal with it, i don't understand..

You need him to be distracted, then you can beat him easily.
