A few reasons, really.Is there a particular reason why you don't do that? What are you getting from the current way you're doing things that makes it preferrable? If it's a monetary thing, you've got a decent enough audience that you could get away with less frequent updates of greater size. If Oceanlabs can put out one update every 14 months and still make thousands of euros, you should be ok.
First, there are people to consider - mainly the paying members who prefer more regular updates, as well as having some say in where the game is going. Also, they get some extra renders - not in-game images - and so on. It is by no means enough, in my opinion, and they deserve more, but I at least should do what I can.
Those who prefer bulky one-year updates and so on can simply visit whenever they like, so they don't really get hurt.
Second, despite what's going on here right now, I genuinely enjoy and learn from the community - I do take into consideration the ideas and input from some of the comments here, which improves my game and me, as an artist.
Third, and not the least, I like showing off, sometimes.
