Assuming that office is the usual place for non Scarlet Contract transactions rather than just convenient for the MC due to him already working with the Princess; I admit that was an oversight on my part. As to the issue of people going to beg the princess to save a loved one; the Powder Girls must be recruiting somehow.Wasn't it made clear that wasn't the case? They followed the mc after his first day of work, then offered to take his money or beat him. One even almost killed him for no real reason at the church. And let's not forget others came to beg the princess to save their families by buying the contract. They assumed wrongly, many times and mugged innocents trying to rescue their families, just like the mc.
They did know that the MC was there to buy scarlet contracts. We know this because at the church Viera specifically called the MC an "owner" while attempting to protect Altina from him. That was the reason she "almost killed" the MC by the way.
Wasn't the MC told that Viera and Altina are sisters? Or did you forget that they were there explicitly because Altina's Scarlet Contract was bought as a means to an end? What sister enslavement plot are you referring to?
You completely misinterpreted my sentence. I said "An official of a GOVERNMENT that they had every reason to believe is tyrannical".Also, how is she tyrannical? She's the princess, not a queen. She commands borderline no power and handles minimal administration.
When a government is selling off it's own citizens into slavery, of course it would be believed that it is tyrannical regardless of the excuse given.
The Princess claimed that the curse is taught about in history classes but multiple characters including the MC don't recall ever being taught about any curse. This screams of the developer intentionally hinting that something else is going on. And before you accuse me of calling Laureate a liar; it's more likely that she is a victim of lies. No, it would make them guilty of insurrection based on ignorance. And if they knew history, the laws were initially struck down, then restored to placate the curse. Unless they've been lied to.
Fair enough. If the "police force" is slaughtering a group for "protesting" (your word) a pro-slavery law then they are only hired guards of slavers.
- They were not slavers, they were church knights.
- They were not "the bad guys" for not surrendering. They were the bad guys for reasons listed above.
- They died fighting the effective policing force after terrorism.
I took your list as "reasons why the Powder Girls are in the wrong". If that wasn't your intention then my bad.
Also, between the church being in support of the Scarlet Law despite being against Azula suggests to me that the deity behind the curse (if it's real) is not Azula but whatever unrevealed being the church worships. This would mean that they willingly support the real villain of the game and any justification for their attack on the Powder Girls should be viewed with suspicion.
Wasn't the idea of the MC buying out contracts to save someone such a big deal to the Laureate partly because it had never been done before? I don't see how reading the law vs. not reading it would make a difference. And again, they refuse to even read the law, to even understand why the mc has slaves.
And as to the MC specifically:
- During the mugging attempt, Viera hesitated when he screamed about trying to save someone. Therefore suggesting that she never encountered something like that before.
- When visiting Viera in the prison it is revealed that the Powder Girls later received reports that the MC is "going around, trying to help the girls in Scarlet". Viera personally refusing to believe that is not the fault of the remaining members who where killed.
Since my use of the words "they had every reason to believe" didn't clue you in; I was not claiming they are infallible. Only that they were not villains and at most deserved only a tiny fraction of the punishment they received. You're just on this slave owner therefore bad argument. If you really feel that way why are you playing an evil mc?
Furthermore, I never implied that the MC is evil. If people trying to do the right thing come into conflict with each other in the process it is up to both parties to resolve the misunderstanding. This almost happened during the attempted mugging but they where interrupted.
I thought the game made it pretty clear that the MC is the only person to attempt buying a Scarlet Contract for any reason other than just wanting to own a slave. This would mean that he is the only owner who was falsely targeted so only he should get to decide to forgive or hold a grudge against Altina and Viera. (and only those two)You're assuming that every person they attack is the run of the mill bad slaver type, when it's been shown that isn't the case. The most info they get is that someone is buying a slave and then they go and beat their shit in without asking any questions. They assume that every slaver is out to ruin the lives of others and we frankly don't know how many treat their slaves poorly and how many don't. So in a sense, yes, going around and beating every slaver they come across regardless of their circumstances(which they don't even bother to learn) could very well be "bad thing they've done in the present day."
I didn't intend to come off as heated. I apologize to anyone who took it that way.My head hurts reading your comments sometimes. Love the heated conversations though! Look forward to 0.1.7!
