Thanks! I'll be evening out screentime for the LIs, so no worries there. Can't say I've ever seen a bug like that in any game before. You wouldn't happen to have gotten a screenshot of that would you? Was it word sequencing backwards or like a flipped/mirrored kind of way?
He speaks, then this sentence goes back to the beginning after he tell next sentence. Maybe it's my computer, the sound is a little lost for a moment. That is only i found, rest is all good

Hmm, okay. Thanks for reporting it! It does sound like it may have been your computer, if sound dropped as well, however, I'll log it in my collection of bug reports anyways.

I really enjoyed paying this game so far. One of the best compliments I can give a game is when it got to the end of chapter 1 and I saw the end of update message I yelled "You can't stop it there!" and I wanted to keep playing. :)

MC is really only a "yes man" if you make ONLY good choices. Obviously some of the story outside of choices makes him agree to things for story reasons. Without that, how do you expect the story to progress? Did you make any Malevolent choices at all? Because it sounds like you didn't. A prime example of MC not being a pushover is

.

Also, I really don't get the whole "let us make the choices" argument. You know I'm the dev right? Meaning, if I wanted to give you a linear plot with no choices, I would've just made it kinetic. I didn't though, because I want you all to have agency with the MC, and I gave you exactly that. The choices have little weight in Chapter 1, but they are there, and they do change things a fair bit. Also, gradually adding more impact to them in coming chapters isn't me doing a rug-pull either.

Btw I'm also not trying to sound like an ass. Just trying to have a thorough discussion about this, because it really seems like the ones complaining either A. don't know what proper character development looks like, or B. Are making choices towards a specific alignment and then whining when the character acts according to that alignment.
The personality of the mc is fluctuating. That makes it hard for me to connect with the mc. There are instances where he is portrayed as a guy without much of a drive and then there are instances where he is portrayed as driven even before mc's character development. Then there is the whole thing about not wanting his powers. Those instances feel more like intentional self-humility for good people perception than reluctance(atleast I think that's what you are going for based on the personality of the mc (although fluctuating)).

There aren't any ambivalent choices in the game. In my opinion ambivalent is not just the mix of benevolent and malevolent choices but also a third unique choice group. Like when the mc asked Christine to help them with her healing powers, she got upset about using her for mc's own gain. In that choice I feel that it would have been better with a third choice calling her out for using mc's blood for her research. Many players who don't want to be a doormat but also not an a**hole would want a third choice.

There are ambivalent choices though, just not following the definition that you have. Ambivalence is seeing all options and feeling mixed about them, therefore, my ambivalent choices are less of a third kind of option and more of an absence of the feelings in the other 2. Also, of course his personality fluctuates. He's uncertain about a lot of things at this moment in his life. So some mixed feelings and reactions make him feel a little more natural.

A lot of people have different mindsets. You feel there are no ambivalent choices, for example, and I feel like the third option you presented with Christine is an asshole choice. It screams narcissism with the subtle manipulation going on. It basically says to her; "You won't do what I want so let me point out where you fucked up so you change your mind and give me what I want." Perceptions differ by mindset and there are way too many to account for every one of them.

That said, I digress. Things will change as the story progresses, as they tend to do with character developments. However, as much as I've previously tried, breaking down and explaining my writing doesn't seem to make people think about it anymore than they already have, so I'm just not going to bother anymore. You either like it or you don't, and you'll feel the way you feel about it regardless, and that's okay.

Just know that I see, appreciate, and consider every bit of feedback that is given (even if it doesn't seem like it) and things will be adjusted as development of the game progresses. Feedback has already affected what I've got for Chapter 2 so far in some minor ways.

Maybe you're right that the third choice I suggested is malevolent but it still would have been better than the current malevolent choice presented there. At that situation she is accusing the mc of taking advantage of her powers even though she did the same thing with mc's blood. At that moment I would have called her out on her hypocrisy even if later regretted it and apologized. Ambivalent IMO is being nice to the people that are being nice to us and being an asshole to the people that are being the same to us.
IMO malevolent isn't just about asshole responses but also about being cunning and using coercion and manipulation to get what you want.

I can understand feeling that way. The choices in the first chapter are meant to be rather tame which obviously has quite a few people upset. The MC was designed with a personality of his own as well, so he's not fully a self-insertable character, which I think is the main thing people are misconstruing and the cause of some adverse reactions regarding choices.

Things will develop alongside the character himself. Meaning the Benevolent choices will get a lot more white-knightly in the future, and the Malevolent ones will become more and more sinister and overall more like what you described.

Side-note: I like your thinking with how you would've handled the choice there! I actually had something loosely similar to that initially, but decided it would go too much against the MC's personality at that point in time. He severely lacks the confidence for a confrontation like that in Chapter 1.

sorry, I am bit invested by the story so far, if you want me to stop being the nazi grammar person, let me know :)
No need to apologize! I really appreciate this! I type really fast and am prone to make mistakes. I caught as many as I could before releasing, but alas, nobody is perfect.

I'll be fixing these immediately for the next update! If you want to, you can join the and start dropping them in the bugs channel. I'll see them regardless, so it's completely up to you.

Thank you so much and I'm glad it's got you invested!

So for some reason the saving feature is completely broken when playing via sandboxed. Anyone has idea how to fix it ?
I've never heard of this before. Google returns results for Sandboxie which runs programs in an isolated environment. Is that what you meant? If not, can you point me in the right direction so I can look into it?

Yeah its exactly what I meant, pretty much nothing special outside of that. I just put in URM, which shouldnt break anything. When run through sandboxie it just doesnt allow me to save anything, which is strange because it definitely works for other games.

Thanks for clarifying! I didn't do anything different to how saving actually works. So I'm not sure why it isn't working if it works on other games. Does it throw any kind of errors?

Gonna download sandboxie and URM to see what I can deduce.

Man, Sandboxie was fun to figure out how to use correctly. Anyways, I ran a few tests of my own and here are my results.

1. Ran just my game with URM. Saving and loading both work fine when done from either the in-game save/load menu or the URM save manager. The only problem I was presented is that saving with URM removes the custom save names, which is a non-issue imo.

2. Ran my game with URM in all sandboxed modes with data protection. That will not let it access user files at all, and I couldn't even get it to load the game because it also had no access to the required files for the game. Moved my game to the (c:\Program Files) folder as sandboxie with data protection can access this folder, and that allows it to launch with everything working, including URM and save/load functions. If for some reason saves/loads still don't work for you, try right clicking the box you run it in and setting the default Ren'Py save path ( C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\RenPy) to be allowed. I didn't have to do this last part, but maybe it will fix your issue. That or run it in a mode without data protection.

3. Ran my game with URM in all sandboxed modes without data protection. Everything was working fine for me both from my game and URM.

I hope this will fix your problem or at least help you figure it out! Feel free to reach back out to me if you encounter further issues.

Overall very good start. Unique looking characters, and I dig their designs a lot. The different personalities work quite well. Except maybe the protagonist. For me he stands at an awkward threshold where he's not a completely blank self-insert canvas but there isn't so much stuff to grasp to really put him somewhere. Just my feeling, of course.
I though that the mixing of the audio was a bit off at times. Some effects were disproportionally louder/quieter than others. From the sounds at the start of the hospital fight to the scene on the roof for example(Edit: iirc the traffic sounds, but it's been a few days so I might have to check back on that again). Might also just be my settings, but I didn't really experience this with other games recently
There is a pretty nifty amount of content for a first release. Gallery and all that has been set up in advance, glad to see someone planned ahead. Good signs for longevity of the project.

The segment of that sentinel secret base felt a tiny bit rushed. For such an important secret base it was run through in quite a short time, quickest sightseeing tour I've seen in a while. Oh, and that base asset in the desert looked hella out of place. Bit strange that this looks thrown together so much more than the rest of the game.

Been a good looking start. This story might go places, just need to see which places that will be.
Good luck, Seraph, and thank you for the release!
Cheers =)

I used Sandboxie, too. It did not cause any issues whatsoever, so the issue might not be the game.

Thanks for the feedback! I was going for a character that has his own personality, but not so much of one that it removes player agency. It's rather hard to do, but I'm sure I'll find a good balance for him very soon.

You are absolutely right about the audio, it's not on your end. Most of it was set up using a surround sound home theater and not my studio headphones like they should have been. I'll tweak things with a studio monitor to get the sounds more even for Chapter 1 and try to keep that moving forward.

I tried to get most of the systems coded and done from the start, so it doesn't slow down the development of updates. Silly me. As now I've had requests for a lore/codex menu and will be implementing that for Chapter 2 onwards. :ROFLMAO:

I'm glad I extended the final scene from what I initially had now... It was originally going to be much shorter. I agree though, it could have been a bit longer. I just didn't want to drag it out with fighting over and over again and there wasn't much more plot-wise that wouldn't have just been aimless filler to add to it. Also, the exterior was 100% just thrown together, but I tried my best to get it the way I envisioned. 3D map construction is a skill I'm very much still learning.

Thanks for the luck and thank you for playing! If you stick with it in future updates, it should only get better from here.

If I ignore it 3 times it just skips to the moment when MC wakes up.
