Not to derail the thread, as I get what you're saying and somewhat agree about the implications, but just want to point out... Dragon Age broke that rule for sure with Isabela. Though she is just a possible fling in Origins the Warden can bang her.I'm pretty much the same. And I mean all you have to do is look at most sequel games in the world of gaming. Be it other AVNs or RPGs and cRPGs, which are the closest you can get to VNs in a normal gaming sense IMO. And you’ll see they pretty much all have at least one thing in common. A general universal unspoken rule if you will…
Be it the Mass Effect series, Dragon Age, Pillars, Pathfinder, Divinity, Baldurs Gate, Persona etc etc.
And that is quite simply.
Don't. Reuse. LIs. With different MCs…
And it especially bums me out with this one. Because Boxed In was a such a nice little Incest story, with a fun plot about all the women in his family wanting him to accept they’re all kinky incest freaks. And then they all have such a nice and happy ending together if he accepts it. With a lot of babies in their futures.
Only for this update to say “nah lol, he’s dead. And all of his girls are going to go jump on this new MCs dick asap!!”
Really disappointed, as it feels like it’s just killed that game as a whole for me now ngl…
And it's another topic, but Mass Effect retcons several events between games, even having Jacob leave FemShep, one of the dumbest things that did in Mass Effect 3 if you ask me. Glad my FemSheps never picked him as a romance option.
Anyway, just thought it was funny and wanted to mention it.

Yeah but that’s just it though, she was a “fling” in DA:O, not an actual LI.
If I recall correctly she was in the game for a sum of about 5-10 minutes total, if being generous. So people didn’t really give a shit when she was put in DA2. Now, imagine if they tried to put Morrigan or Leliana in the game for Hawke instead.
I think people might have been just a LITTLE… more mad/upset. Don’t you think?

To answer one of your questions, the way it currently is written, the MC from BI was literally fucked to death by his whole family. So the events of BI clearly did take place, and it seems the acceptance route was the canon ending used in S&P. That isn't to say that dev couldn't simply rewrite a bit of dialogue there to completely change it. I would, as a personal preference, prefer the daughters all still be virgins when they meet S&P's MC, but it's not really a dealbreaker.Quick questions regarding these posts so I can determine if I'm interested in this side content or not:

I don't hate how dev handled the crossover so far, but it's not the optimal path either. Parallel universe/alternate timeline/etc. where BI's MC died *before* the events of the game, or maybe died to a freak accident in one of the early rooms (sleeping gas overused/tainted causes MC to sleep forever?) would be more ideal and presumably appease most of the people that take issue with it, since it'd technically be a whole different set of women.
Any way you slice it, it's completely avoidable and optional content, and should not be a reason for anyone to avoid/stop playing this amazing game.
I am a little confused because I played through and didn't see any of the girls from Boxed In? I was looking forward to seeing them lol

In the last update Grace was the girl who gave you directions at the college when you went there looking for Sue's daughter, and in this update, you meet the Boxed In MC's mom and aunt (twins) if you go to Brook Vale.
That was excellent, instantly diving into the story, no introductory garbage. Very good models for the girls.

The dev does it purely for the enjoyment. No way to support in any capacity. Is a dev decision for now.

Woah can’t believe the angst and drama here just due to those BI beauties joining the ride!
Guys (& gals), as the dev said you can resume from your 0.02 Save and, skip Brooke Ridge if you don’t want the “Easter egg DLC”. From my perspective, it is badbod’s genius way to bring back the beauties and get us more fun scenes with them. I for one am eagerly waiting for it.
For those of you who want to leave their memory of BI as is or hate crossovers or have any other complaints, skip Brooke Ridge! The path you should take is from Cedar Grove --> Brookvale --> Springhaven. For future updates as well, skip Brooke Ridge.
However, if you don’t mind the crossover, the ideal path is from Cedar Grove --> Brooke Ridge -->Brookvale --> Springhaven.

I generally don't like offering feedback as I usually like to just like to let people cook and not attempt to disrupt their own vision. But, I'm gonna have to break that here sadly. As I really just don't like how this was handled, and I don't fuck with it like a few others seemingly. Feel free to disregard this if you don't care, but I have to say something.
But your reasoning of "I decided to add this as a side story for those who wanted to see more of that family. Think of it as optional DLC." Would it not have made more sense then, to just add it as Extra epilogue DLC for BOXED IN? and not this one... I mean, I can even point to someone who was in pretty much this exact spot that you are in right now, and did exactly that.
Drooskati, the Dev of Between Two Worlds. Your stories actually seem to have a bit in common. You've both recently-ish just finished your first games. And now you're both making your second game set in the same universe. The only difference is his is going to be a prequel, but that doesn't matter with what I'm trying to say.
So he, and some of his fans wanted some extra content with his BTW Girls. So what he decided to do. Is every now and again while he's making his second game. He's simultaneously, doing little epilogue content for BTW. With one of the first few stories involving a little timeskip. And most of the LI's now being mothers, and one of the ones who's not. Being upset she isn't yet. And trying to "fix that"...
It's nice wholesome gooner content and is being handled really well.I feel like if you did/do something similar to that. And just leave Boxed In as it is. A nice, short and kinky incest game between the original cast. With a lovely ending and future for them all together, with potential further epilogue content with them down the line. Instead of what it SEEMS like we're getting now, to some people at least. What with Boxed In being "cannibalized" With its MC being thrown in the bin and his story just being made pointless now in hindsight. Just so you can reuse his Girls in this game. Which just feels wrong and cheap... Most, if not all of the general mixed reactions you're getting would disappear IMO.

I actually liked doing Ceder Grove -> Brookvale -> Brooke Ridge -> Springhaven. Things get really interesting, especially James getting killed off early, and Asshole 1 & 2 being dealt with. Aside from Miyuka not being brought to Sue's house yet, and Alison learning about your new "job", nothing too bad really happens.

I really want to like this AVN, but the more I play it, the creepier the MC gets. I went into this with eyes wide open knowing what to expect but I really liked the first version and for a while I could avoid the parts I didn't like, but yikes. Just not for me.
Good luck to the dev! Seriously. They produce regular, significant updates and we need to support those folks 'cause this shit is hard to produce. It's good to see a solid following.

Personally I don't get the pearl clutching over the surprise reveal. How is this any different from the usual, standard haremcest game where the MC's dad is dead or otherwise out of the picture, leaving mom and any of his other LIs available for the MC to romance and make a part of his harem?
The fact is, we as the player are both the MC from the last game and the one in this one... considering the half-brother sibling connection and ostensibly being a near identical twin, I have no issue 'importing' our harem from the previous game into this one since the previous 'us' is no longer among the living. Why doom that side of the family to celibacy when they can be happy and move on with their lives with someone they feel a special connection to?
In any case, did I need to see a family connection between both MC's? No, but as I said it just adds another interesting wrinkle I wasn't expecting and one that I think is pretty compelling and would love to see play out. I imagine some of those extended family members might be hesitant to get with the new MC (like the wife and their daughters) while the others may try consider being open minded.
I also can see a path where they freely admit to keeping things in the family with the old MC, but also encourage the new MC to do the same with his immediate family while not having any interest in being his LIs and part of his harem. Canonically, several of them were pregnant by the end of the last game so they might just wait for the next generation to claim them instead.
Whatever direction you choose to go in, I'm fine with, especially if it means more sexy time with the previous family!

Well, it's quite a MAJOR easily spottable difference IMO. And that is obviously, that that character has never been our MC. We've never spent any time with him. Never knew him, and never cared about him at all. He's just a name. So who cares.
Well that's lovely for you. Some people like me however, find just "importing" your harem from the last game into the next one. To be a bit weird and rather cheap.

Really cheapens BI as a whole and makes the relations between the BI MC and his Girls feel weak and pointless now.
Who knows what's canon now?

My personal opinion on the Boxed In characters, some content with the half sisters, and maybe their daughters would be nice, but there's no point really imo to have sexual content with twice removed relations, as relationships with family twice removed is legal pretty much everywhere and sort of in my view is not taboo at all.
