Hello everyone,
I've been asked by few of my patrons to do a "one-time donations" to fund the recovery of my hard drive. The data recovery station is asking for 600 USD to recover the drive which I can't afford. Since the pandemic began, I've had no work. I'm a stage audio engineer and due to the virus there's been no gigs or anything. Thus I was left only with the game. And you the Patrons have been supporting me with your pledges. I'm truly grateful for your support even though my updates are always 4-5 months apart.
While I appreciate every single Patreon pledge, the total earning is still less than 200 USD and it's not enough to pay the recovery fee.
So if you are willing then please help me out in this disastrous situation. I have worked on "Seducing The Devil" for 2 years. If I don't recover the data then you and I will never be able to see the end of this game. What makes it worse is that Veronica was also working on her own game "It Was Raining That Night". I can't even look into her eyes now.

Two of my patrons have also noted that the hardware malfunctions are happening due to the power supply. As you know both my GTX 1070 graphics cards are also dead for months. While I can bear the cost of a DONOR hard drive, I can't afford a replacement power supply that may cost around 90-100 USD.

Those of you who support me know it very well that I don't milk my patrons. Despite being a lone developer, I try to put as much as content possible. I don't advertise myself to gain more pledges. I've always just relied on my work. Please help me to continue the work you love and support.

I'm opening this donation thread and setting a goal of 600+ USD (The extra donations will be used to fund a new power supply and if possible new gpu).

The recovery process will take around 7-14 days. And I can ask them to recover only when enough funds have been generated.

I was gonna offer to do the data recovery for him free (I'm a prof. computer tech of 20+ years) but if he's raise the money for a prof. data recovery firm then that's hands down the better option. Hope they get everything and he can get back up and running. As a hopeful game dev myself I'd hate to be in his shoes.

And yeah... definitely a bad power supply with that many failures. Let this be a lesson to anyone here with plans to build a computer of their own: if you over spend on anything... over spend on the PSU. It's not glizty and glamorous and it won't impress your friends the way the latest from nvidia would... but every single other component depends on it and a crappy PSU is the fastest way to get stuck with dead parts.

Also make backups. Seriously... there's no excuse these days. I used to make backups with tape drives. THAT was a chore.

Veronica here. It's been a while.
I hope you are doing well in this difficult time.
I'm gonna be a bit personal. Bear with me.

The past few months have been extremely hard on us. Too many downs than ups.
My father was taken away from me and the pain was unimaginable. He was an amazing human being. Raised me up all by himself. Made me what I'm today. Held on to me when I was going through the difficult period of a broken marriage. Made me believe in myself again. Always protected me.
But for the last 2 years we weren't in good terms due to me being much older than Alan (Deafperv). Alan has always insisted on getting his approval before we could tie the knot.
It took my father a while to accept him. Finally gave us his blessings. But now I won't get to see him send me off. I can't explain how much it hurts. I know that he is at a better place. Just wish I was there for him in his last moments. We were notified on phone about his passing and weren't allowed to hold a proper burial.
Everything happened so fast and the state of our minds weren't right.
I couldn't speak for days and Alan was having a very hard time.
Quickly after that he had to start working on the game again because he kept getting asked about it and he was losing patrons every week. We've had few harsh messages that we were just slacking off when they've paid money and we were doing nothing but sitting at home.
I was never on board with him making adult games. I have seen how the developers get criticized for every bit of decision they take. Alan has always been at the receiving end of such criticisms. He wanted to make something out of the box and got criticized for it.
I have seen him spend sleepless nights on this. But he has never truly got the appreciation he deserves. Maybe I'm biased.
After his cards died I've asked him many times to just quit. But he didn't.
He has always been determined to finish the game even though he has to work few times more now due to the dead cards and the game being so spread out.
The Patreon money could never truly justify the work he has put on.
In my opinion he has made a bad decision by investing more on the game. We were already living on minimum wage.
Funnily enough since the pandemic began, we are both jobless. Living on one time relief fund and Patreon money. Trust me, he isn't lazy. He would have released the game by now if he could.
You won't ever get to understand the true state of someone if you don't live it yourself.
As his partner I've always supported him regardless of how I feel about the industry in general. Thought I should support him more by working on a game of my own as well.
He doesn't promote himself anywhere. He has a very little reach in this industry. So the least I could do is help him by filling up the gaps when his game is still under development.
Then the unthinkable happened. His drive died. I've never seen him break down like this. Ever. The sense of responsibility he has at this age makes me look down on my myself. As the man of the house, he felt that he let me down. The guilt inside him amplified upon realizing that my work is in that drive too.
Then the community that I've despised came to the rescue. We were blown away by the response. He broke down yet again after reaching the target within a day.
I literally couldn't believe what was happening.
Now I know why he kept working on that game. Because he knew about the community more than I did.
We were in no position to recover anything. But you've made the impossible possible.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We'll repay your kindness by delivering what we've promised.
Alan is still in his mid 20s. I hope you are going to give him the time to learn and improve. He may act cool and all but get easily hurt when someone posts a negative review on his game.
I'll try my best so that he doesn't feel demotivated.

This lady, Veronica, don't know if she's a looker like the character in the game, but she seems to be a loving and supporting GF, dev should consider himself lucky to have her in his life. Can't imagine my girl being cool with me making porn games, she'd cut my fucking dick off for doing that unless I'd make bank like Scamdrop/ICSTOR by scamming and lying to ppl daily. But at that point she'd tell me to become a politician, it's the same shit only way less actual work and a shitload of $$ to ehh borrow without asking for permission.

On a more serious note, I hope the dev ignores all the negativity and keeps working on his game, he should do that to respect all his hard work put into developing it. Even if it makes waay less than the game's actually worth it, he gains some experience from finishing the project and he can do better in the future.

IMO this game is one of the best games in terms of visuals and sexy women, but the paths are really confusing even with a WT, that and the forced sharing/NTR (Ella x her mom and Jason being a dick) are the biggest flaws that keep players from playing and supporting it.

How confusing the game is at the beginning was a real turn off for me. And I've never gotten far enough into the game to make heads or tails of what's really going on. Cherry turning into a psycho bitch kinda pissed me off. Not at the dev per see, just in general. I hated that turn. I still come back and check in though... cause I hold out hope that the dev knows what they are doing. And sure enough, people are saying late in the game it starts to make sense.

But I've never been such an entitled asshat that I messaged the dev and told him off for doing things I didn't like. It's one thing to provide constructive criticism... which I have provided at times to devs of other games. It's another to tell a dev, in more or less words, that he sucks and should quit. Or to try to spin development decisions as if they somehow wrong you by being made the way they were and the dev is a bad person for that. I don't look at cherry turning evil and say "that's bad writing". It isn't... it's just not my preference.

And I've learned from hard earned experience that laziness is exceptionally rare... usually it's depression and/or a loss of motivation that leads to someone stopping work on something they have put a huge amount of effort into. It's fundamental attribution error: when someone else does something "bad" it's seen by others as a character flaw and as such is unjustifiable... then when they themselves do something "bad" its circumstances conspiring against them and totally couldn't be helped. I'll say it again: actual, real laziness is rare... and kicking someone's motivation in the nutz when they are down isn't going to get you the game you want... likely the opposite.

It was confusing to me her changing into a psycho bitch until it's eventually revealed why that happened to her but to directly message a dev because your pissed off at a decision is, like you said a very asshat thing to do. I certainly have a gripe with the game even though I love it and that's personally I love Selina way more than Ella and in terms of the story she's the MC's best friend who falls in love with him and he does treat her like shit especially when it comes to always being with her but then completely ignoring her the second Ella calls or text's him is also completely dickish and yet despite that she sticks by him and wants him to love her the way she loves him, even if she does go off with Jason to make the MC jealous.

And yet if you're looking at what is implied as the "good" path to save Rachel and would be Cherry's choice is to go and be with Ella and the "Bad" path or at least one of them is implied to be picking Selina or at least the impression I got is that that option is more Lileva's option. I could understand Ella's path being the path if Ella wasn't fucking her Mom the entire time and was simply the innocent girl in an online relationship with the pervert boyfriend who sees sense but that's not the case.

But given that part of the conversation Cherry has with you is that you should make a decision but that if you opt for multiple girls that's the "bad" Lileva's way but making a choice and going with a single gir who you love is a good choice, then I personally would say that regardless of whether you choose just Ella or just Selina both of those should potentially be a path to save Rachel/Your Mom and perhaps Cherry too and perhaps that will be the case in a future update, who knows but right now what there is having both done an only Ella and only Selina route, one is clearly meant to be the save her path and the other is more unclear.

That being said I think constructive criticism is fine, I think even stating an opinion like mine above is fine too as long as that's all it is and doesn't lead to "Hey dev what you've done sucks and this is the way it should be" or any of that BS. It sucks that certain people gave them crap during what was a tough time, and that his Hard Drive died too and to lose all that work on top of it sucks.

With the last update, hopefully there will be less asshats to give them crap and some patience will endure until the eventual next update, it's clear the dev cares about the game and wants to finish it, even with all the issues and it's good to see that there are still more good people in the community for this game than the bad.

Got a call from the data recovery station last night. They still haven't found a donor drive. My drive is a 2016 model. According to the tech guy it's a rare model. Asked me personally to look for one if possible.

So I'm coming back from the old parts market now. And yeah, found nothing. They'll keep looking for one and in the meantime I can't sit around waiting. Our lives are on the line. Debts are just getting bigger.

I'll start working on something else. There's no fixed date of when I can get my drive back. So it's better if I work on something else. Once I get my drive back, I'll finish the update as soon as possible.
