To keep the art consistent, they've been re-doing the old art with the same labor division at the same time as they add new art.
this is so uncalled for...
they really should learn from legend of queen opala, emmerzail and bunch of other adult game which already existing.

removing old CG for CG replacement is counter productive, seeds of chaos should just allow both CG to exist at the same time for player.

my recommendation is a single small icon on corner when you reach this multiple CG section.

now let's learn from emmerzail, instead of black screen in seeds of chaos they could just rush a non colored quick sketch as temporary CG.

i still remember the infamous blackscreen.

One of the biggest criticism on the game was the inconsistency on art. momdadno is a great artist, but he made a lot of CGs with the characters off model. Also, Sommelier always was the BG artist, so him finalizing the art makes the CGs match the BGs and tone. BTW, everyone thinks he is some kind of demon, because he is good and fast as fuck.

The reworks in story happened because the game had little pre-production IMO. So, they had to change things as they were working on it. I remember that Alexia wasn't supposed to be so important, but her popularity made her a have some her own choices made by the player. Helayna was a character for one event only, but she was so well recieved that they made her a regular NPC in some routes. The reworks are necessary to match the early parts of the game with the rest of it.

Trying to argue that the new / updated art is SoC is problematic, inconsistent, or poor quality, is frankly ridiculous.

Pretty sure SoC is more sucessful than those games Cuthulu Disiple is suggesting SoC "learns from." My advie to you Cuhulu; play the game, don't just watch someone play- make your own judgement.

The art team still includes both artists. MDM still does 6 new line arts for the game every month. Sommlier colorizes / brings the pieces in line with the new format. The guy is a work-horse. You're looking at at least 20-30 2d hand made art every release.

Even if you preferred the aesthetic of the old art over the new you have no ground to stand on in trying to argue the way SoC is executing their art directive is inefficient and problematic. The team is almost finished doing the redraws anyway. There are only two or three characters remaining.

My aesthetic preference is the new art.
1) Sommlier is very aware of the effect of the colorization of his backgrounds as they relate to the mood / zeitgeist of the game;the positive events are so bright and colorful while the negative ones are intentionally much darker.
2) Further, there is also much more detail/realism in the work.
3) Finally the old artist drew Rowan like an absolute tiny bitch-boy, which I personally hated. Sommlier gave us swole Rowan. He still smol- but he swole. Definitely appreciated the art taking a slight step away from basically feminizing and bitching out the main character constantly.

Some would say the feminized bitch boy fits better the NTR aspect of the game.

I mostly agree with waht you said but this seems wrong to me.
Rowan was never a femboy in any of the old or new artworks, that is Draith's job. At most the changes are because now one artist does the sketches and the other does the final art and coloring. Making the new art more detailed and with a "dirty" feel.

Agreed of course Fleep. But then again the SoC devs vehemently posit that SoC is not a NTR game- rather, it is a game with NTR routes. Its supposed to be a kink route- not the whole plot; so the new art direction in regards to Rowan makes more sense. He shouldn't always be portrayed as weak and sexually incompetent- that vibe should be specific to the Kink routes that benefit from the vibe. Still pretty annoyed by how incredibly tiny Rowan looks in general- but at least its a little better.

I would not Subscribe to the old school SoC game- but now that it is starting to have things like tasteful poly femdom (X'zaratl), Maledom route for Rowan (Liurial), the inkling of a FxFXM poly route (Hel, eventaully) / harem route for Rowan (Cla tribe, that new art on Patreon; fuckin wow friendos!), I am very interested in the title. Previously I loved the story- but I found the game really un-sexy; it has started to be both for me.

There are still many areas of the game that smash your face into the concept that Rowan is sexually unequal or inept (art in particular)- but it is not as pervasive as it used to be- and the vibes are more tangible / extreme to the specific routes that are supposed to include it. Which is appropriate.

I'm looking forward to similarly robust routes that that sexually empower Rowan instead of diminishing him; but the game should also have more routes that diminish him as well.

(IIRC, Fleep is looking forward to that Rowan x Jezera NPC route- when it gets worked on- I imagine it will allow for either vibe depending on how the Player navigates it.)

The devs are constantly having to find a middle ground in some of the content b/t dis-empowering and empowering the MCs- sexually, artistically, and narratively.

It is a difficult balancing act for the company- particularly in regards to Alexia who has a stupid number of variables for a NPC. The whole thing should get easier as the specific narratives get pushed further down their paths in game two.

I have to say, I would appreciate if down the line, the few outdoor male/male encounters for Rowan actually let him be versatile, CHOOSING whether he wants to be top or bottom (or possibly allowing for flips). I know that would require additional art but given that those encounters, as well as I can remember them have nothing to do with dominance but rather are more about camaraderie, shouldn't automatically make Rowan bottom.
The ones in the castle are with harder defined characters that have a more clear relationship with Rowan but a friendly adventurer or smuggler should not automatically be a top.

Also, being a bottom does not mean you are submissive. It's sad how prevalent that concept is in media but it's just not the truth.

I complained about this some time ago. The devs here frequently mentioned that the players should have the option to decide the sexuality of the characters they play, but I guess that doesn't involve the slight nuance of M/M stuff. I don't expect that to change sadly.

Among castle characters, Rowan still defaults as submissive/bottom to Greyhide, despite Greyhide himself being submissive to both Rowan and Alexia even outside their sexual relationships. The only time Rowan has the guts to lead is during one of the threesome scenes after the Andras conflict and I'm not sure what the explanation for that is. I think Greyhide is being mishandled and reduced to just big minotaur dick. This is just my opinion here, but it feels forced.

I believe the proportion remained mostly the same but don't quote me on that. One of the devs should be able to better answer this. ;)

I hope the 15 year wait is worth it, folks. We never waited this long for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and yet some people will wait for a fucking porn game :ROFLMAO:
