I like the actual game in porn games. Even when it involves.... rpgmaker! Gasp! Shock! I know I know.
However, the "gameplay" in this game is ass. Got a large map, with limited movement, with random events. Whole thing is just undercooked. It has the look of a game with deeper gameplay. Looks like a game that would have combat and more. But what's actually there is just... eh. Can understand folks wanted to scrap it. Even though it would make the game feel off after all this time. But to add to that. The story of this story driven game is taking a while. So imagine the type of backburner actual gameplay is on.
not that i have a problem with doing tedious bland combat, or walking a physical map being "surprised" by random encounters, or even memorizing where every damn same lame ass looking building is to continue quests or story.
what i dislike about the use of rpgmaker is that it is just a very cheap trick to stretch game time, making you think that the game last longer than it actually does.
sure VNs do a similiar bullshit, but rephrasing sentences over and over again and making the word count big. it's still far easier to put text speed to full, gloss over the text and have a rough understanding what's going on.
with rpgmaker you don't have that luxury.
even though you could do so much more with it. for example are there offense and defense skills and elements. you could do enemies that rely on a specific tactic you need to figure out to beat them. you could give the map a makeover and have lots of NPCs have their own schedule and in my eyes most important of all, only selected few enemies always at the same spot. fewer engagements and challenging than many and worthless.
but no you have to dodge the enemy sprite (if leveling is no issue, so the enemy is really just there to slow you down), or if you get unlucky wait for initiation animation to finish, then give every party member a meaningless action, wait for every character's turn and see their hit and attack animations, which so "immersively" is just the sprite shaking. so a 4 hour game turns into a 12 hour game, because you lose so so so many time by having to watch useless animations and walking distances, as quest send you from and to a place a 1000s times.
no i am fine with how complex SoC is.
