I could see a good Rowan getting killed but then at his death having a miracle happen that shows to everyone he was favored by Solansia. So he'd die but then it would lead to some kind of popular revolt against the corrupt nobility. I think the idea is that the full pure and corrupt paths have Rowan effectively be chosen by either Solansia or Kharos respectively.

Hey I know it is silly, but it would give some catharsis to the story without sacrificing the central theme. You would have Werden and the Solansia Saint lady try to stand in favor of Rowan but the human nobles would have whipped the crowd up into frenzy and he'd get executed then you'd have something like the skies parting for Solansia to favour him and that would lay the grounds for a full on rebellion. It makes Rowan's path meaningful but also doesn't give him an out for all the atrocities he will have to commit to save Alexia.

I just don't want a happily ever after even in the purest version of the story.

It helps keep your corruption and guilt low and those stats change plenty of events (including the sex scenes with Alexia).

I'm with you is wanting to see Solansia involved in the story, not only they would be making use also of the design they made of her instead of letting it go wasted, but there definitely cool ways to insert her in the tale (it would be fun to see Alexia being choose as a receptacle by the Goddess if she stayed uncorrupted for example).
