There seems to be potential here, but it still seems to be in a very early stage, and the plot hasn't really formed yet.

I did, and completed the main story; I'm talking about the plot to this game. There are character reintroductions and the setting, but the main loop for this game hasn't been introduced, and I didn't really see anything from the Empress (the closest thing I have to a name for her) in this game.

The main idea of the plot arch has been shown. Mai is different and MC's memories are messed up. So someone else has time traveled and changed things.
This will involve "revealing" that and the response to it as the arching plot, with the usual character developments going on.

You are entirely right. Recalibrated has not yet picked up on the plot threads left from the first game and developed them in any meaningful way. But the dev has addressed this and said why (he's been mostly focusing on laying the foundations for the rest of the game). And the next update, according to him, will focus on establishing the course of the story.

Thank you for waiting the extra three weeks for this update, iis a big one. Now that it's done, I want to get back to my usual update cycle, and scene selections for SB2.04 will resume as normal.
Here is the changelog for the update:
QOL:
all phone idle animations quality greatly improved
quick menu returns after playing SQ
??? has been added to the gallery
Skip Dance button added (there is only one dance sequence this update, this will make it so you don't need to repeat it)
Jessica outfit remake (still WIP)
Re-ordered some events and pictures
Dance character side images for MC, Alexa, Lexxx, Emily, and Sam
CONTENT:
Day 1 - Time loop reentry
Day 2 - Movie variant
Day 3 - Melvin Evening
Day 4 - Alexa Calibration

Should at least wait until the official release after all that's worked out.
