Any recommendation for fixing this on MAC?

I would suggest to Google more broadly as to how you can modify Ren'py games on Mac, or how to manage files.

Don't do that. That doesn't make sense.
You need to modify the contents of the game folder inside the app. An app on Mac is nothing but a folder masquerading as a file. To see inside the app, right click it and choose Show Package Contents. Mods for Ren'Py games generally go into /Contents/Resources/autorun/game
More free advise: make a duplicate of the app first before you start messing with it.
Free nitpicking as a bonus: it's Mac (abbreviation for MacIntosh), not MAC. That's an acronym for a lot of other things.
