I think they talked about in the story how they had a backup plan for each other after so many years or something but it was more of a joke or am I thinking of something else I know ive seen that type of convo in a few things now.

Well, I do remember they talked about how they use each other whenever either of them feels bad. Like, when MC feels down, he calls Maddison to 'cheer him up,' and vice versa. There's a lewd scene where MC says he feels bad for using Maddison, even though she says it's fine, as long as he will do the same for her, it was said in a joking way though.

Well, technically both are simps. But the MC should kind of have a choice to say "No thanks." Not sure if he does or not, haven't gotten far into the game yet.

you can break it off after the first 2 times ( only the first few times are forced) by just not playing her path and when you get serious with someone else you can break it off officially.

You're talking about simp, but you don’t actually seem to know what the term means.
We could call it simping if the MC or Maddison accepted being a backup plan just to hopefully sleep with or end up in a relationship with the other. But in the story, it’s pretty clear they’ve had this FWB relationship for years — they help each other out sexually, hang out when they need someone for non-romantic activities, and can support each other during low moments, all without any romantic feelings involved.
And regarding the second part of your sentence — aside from the first two scenes with Maddison (which are mandatory to introduce their relationship), the MC can reject every other scene she offers, and that leads to ending their FWB dynamic (this option is already in the game). Since she’s also a romanceable LI, the option to pursue a romantic path will be available very soon.

What do you think a backup plan is? She keeps him around while she goes to fuck other dudes and then goes back to him when she's not. That's the definition of a backup plan.
Yes, it is simping to go back to a girl after she leaves you to fuck some other dude(s), that's what simping is. She kept the MC on standby while she fucked around with other guys, and now she is miraculously going to discover what a great guy he is and realize that she wants to be with him.
Men and women are not the same, and in this case MC and Maddison are not in the same position, she's in a significantly higher position than him. She holds the cards, not the MC. Also, we don't play as Maddison, so there is no equivalence.
FWB is not the same as going back to a girl who openly and consistently chooses to value you as a second choice (at best), whilst getting run through. FWB doesn't need to include starting and stopping and restarting. The interruption is what makes it cucked, obviously.

This part right here has to be the dumbest thing I may have read in a while. So Men aren't held to same standard, we can getboff scot free just because and because we don't play as Maddison she doesn't matter only MC can do things.
And also you act like Maddison is a hoe who went through a lot of relationships, she didn't, probably, not really any. You act like she was sleeping with every guy, she wasn't. But you obviously don't know anything about relationships cause I doubt anyone would date you with this type of mindset.

Who has Maddison slept with since the story started besides the MC? Hell, after the initial sex scene she does something that catches the MC off guard showing that a shift in their dynamic is coming.

how in the hell is the MC being a simp. It's nothing more than a casual / mutual FWB relationship with no strings attached. Be different if the MC wanted more but she did not and the MC refused to get into other relationships because of it. But in the context of this relationship nothing more than them being casual fuck buddies. Where they both use each other for sex ( until it does turn romantic , which is something I can't wait for as im not really a fan of FWB relationships)
Also pretty sure they weren't serious about using each other as a backup plan it's more of a joke due to them being FWB.
