gossip on Chinese IM:
Tbh, China always had those 'unusual large transactions' detection up, this is first to deal with more of corruption and money laundering problems, of course this will be detected especially for individuals that usually do not have such large amount of transaction happening. And if he declared it as international trading income this would have likely flew under the radar, but there's a possibilty that it would still be reported for anti-laundering authority to be either put on record or investigated, there is a chance that it may not have been as catastrophic as what happened here.

I known the guy when he was "stukove" and kinda stopped following bcs I'm not a big fan of Genshin's style
An now, catching up on this...

Let me say it straight...

Guy transferred 1.8 mil AT ONES (even if it's Cn money), which is stupid to do on it's own...
Got called by the bank/irs/whatever, GOT TOLD BY THEM WHAT TO DO to avoid the tax avoidance persecution
And instead of keeping -25%, which is still a LOT, not going to jail and losing everything... he told them to fuck off :WaitWhat:

brother, how fkin dumb you are to manage this :FacePalm:

I have no clue what actually happened, but you're misunderstanding what someone in this thread said. They had thought the source of his income was international trading, which apparently is subject to a tax. When he told them his source of income was something else, they investigated. They may have suspected tax evasion but that's not what he would be charged with. Assuming any of this is even true.
I was about to answer your questions but guy above this reply already done that.
That's means if bank notice you (which you shouldn't wire money in bulk), you have already been under their radar, and you should deescalate the situation asap. Declare the money is international income (which it is) is more easier than prove it just clean money from relative or some sort (which it is not). And pornography is way too convenience to make one person spit out all their money since it's illegal to make porno in Cn.

gossip on Chinese IM:
View attachment 2806753
TRANSLATION:

He(shirakami) transferred 1.8 million(yes. exactly 1.85 million) RMB at once back to domestic bank card.
The tax office noticed the flow and phoned him about taxing affairs.
They told him "You should pay tax for international trading income."
But he rejected and said "It's not international trading income."
So they called police in, to investigate the source of money.
And you know the rest of the story (

Nothing is certain but death and tax, I am not suprised it's also true for Chinese people.
I believe these are made up, some chinese people love to make these kind of stuff up.

Shirakami was caution about his identity, nobody knew who he was before this. If any authority contacted him, I believe he would aware of potential dangerous.
He might did the transfer, and then got bashed in without any warning.

There are no privacy in China, everything is connected to personal identity(phone number/bank card/websites account.. etc). Do not assume you are anonymous on the net. You will be burned if its necessary for the authority.

Everyone is under radar of the government. Especially bank card, it is heavily monitored for money laundry or anyother illegal transactions. I believe shirakami was first detected by large exchange settlement. In China, individuals only have $50000 inward remittance annually(~ 0.4 mil in RMB). Once you exceeded the quota, you must prove they are coming from legal business, which is not possible for shirakami.(pornography is not legal in CN)

Would you regard the American Civil War as a war between two countries?Please don't discuss politics here
You can just ignore it like previous posts did or report it if you want to, instead of provoking it and starting a non-related topic here .

The problem is that in China porn is illegal, so he wouldn't be able to explain how he made this 250K without having a regular job, he could lie and all, but eventually they will find out and it could be worse than the 10 years, and I agree he should've left the country asap, but who knows what goes in his mind

The key reason for Shirakami's arrest was still because he transferred a large amount of funds from overseas to a bank account in China in one go and ignored the warning from the tax bureau. If he had the relevant awareness of prevention, his fate would not have fallen into this, and most 3D pornographic animation and MMD producers in China would not have taken refuge now

That's not even a possibility, deleting something from the internet is nearly impossible, and i say "nearly" because it is only possible when the content is obscure enough, which is not shirakami's case

Pretty sure Kemono has all of his works up until he went dark.
Though I can't say the same for any mainland Chinese creators who mostly upload on Fantia.

an amazing artist. quite sad that he would be arrested and jailed. It appears china has a strict law of porn.
he tried to hide his identity. but the fact that he was making bank had made government suspicious if the animator is dealing in illegal business.
for the purpose of profit, produces, duplicates, publishes, sells or disseminates p*rnographic materials shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance and shall also be fined."
"If the circumstances are serious, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than 10 years and shall also be fined; if the circumstances are especially serious, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than 10 years or life imprisonment, and shall also be fined or be sentenced to confiscation of property."
im not sure if its real apparently, he made like 3,485 usd per month from his "obscene animation works" quote by chinese news media. apparently making over 250k USD on Patreon. also not sure if its real. it seems like mihoyo was the one that reported this to the goverment.

I just learned about his story from /r/shitposting subreddit... Sadge btw. 3.5k$ per month in China is definitely something like 200K a year in USA if not even more. Just my bet.

Aight, so let me get this straight (correct me if I'm wrong).
  • The person was from China;
  • Pornography was banned in China;
  • The person uses Patreon since 2019;
  • The person managed to snatch around 3.4K$ / month via Patreon;
  • The person chooses one of China's domestic bank (No 3rd party e.g., Paypal) as a payout option;
  • The person evaded tax, multiple times (rumored so);
  • China has access to everyone's personal data (including data on Banks, ofc);
  • China did investigation on the person's income through the person's bank account;
  • The government of China apprehended the person;
However, so far I have no clue about:
  • Did he actually evade taxes multiple times?
  • If No, then who'd reported him?
Because, the way I see it, the person managed to fly under the government's radar for quite some time. Then, all the sudden he got exposed somehow. Either someone exposed him, or he made his own mistake.

If you steal 50 cents every now and then, people won't notice. But the earlier posts in the thread said he tried to transfer 1.8m yuan(quarter million dollars). You're going to get attention from any bank anywhere if you suddenly transferred 250,000 dollars especially as private individual that previously never did.
