I mean... Is see the "appeal" but its obvious that its not gonna be anything good if its thrown together with some obvious shitty AI model taken from a free subscription plan and made in like 2 weeks or so.

ok I gave it a chance and holy this is the laziest ai slop game i've ever seen. i thought the ai was gonna be negligible at the worst but nah the scenes are straight lifeless and weird, the mechanics are wonky and there's just straight animals with tits as an enemy. The closest thing to a scene was the alraune portion but even that was bare bones. ngl i understand ai makes creation easier but this is straight up unplayable.
The issue is likely that he's generally tired of developing and drawing for games. If his posts on Shrift 2 CH3 is any indication, developing stresses him out a lot. Of course I can't confirm that, but he has quite a lot of twitter posts ranting about how much stress drawing for CH3 has been for him.Honestly for an AI slop experiment, i would take it if its priced at 10yen at most

If people don't like him using AI and he chooses not to use it because of that backlash I wouldn't really be suprised if he just stopped developing entirely and just posts on his own for himself or commisions again.
Maybe it's just me but I have no real qualms against AI and if he's able to really fine tune it and make it look good, and it cuts down on his stress and allows him to continue making games, I wouldn't mind it.
Shrift is probably the best NSFW game in this genre, so he can definetly just retire since he's mostly (unless i missed something) a solo dev and artist. I really do think we're seeing some fatigue creep in, and not the type of fatigue a break can fix.
A lot of other developers ran into similar issues of being stressed, and now we really don't have many left :/ So honestly you might as well get used to AI because that's probably going to be the only way we can generate our particular fetish soon.

I'm fine with this, he just needs to finish the game first IMO. Then he can take a break or whatever. Honestly, Shrift 2 is probably already longer than it really needs to be.
Secondly, the AI itself isn't specifically a problem it's how he's using it. But he doesn't want to hear that because he seemingly just wants a shortcut like everyone else.
If he took the time to understand these work, he could train his own models/LORAs on his own work and either draw over blemishes or draw more stuff to feed it so it can get things right. But it'd likely not speed things up much in the short term; lot of companies are learning this the hard way right now...
Anyway, I finally caved and took a look at the game and you're all right. Calling it a game is barely proper... I can almost imagine the frantic, tired, stressed artist tweaking out, knocking over their paints, and calling the resulting mess their latest masterpiece while pulling out their hair and spasming. That's what this feels like.
I wonder what get him into game dev in the first place if he seems to dislike it so much. And I mean, despite being a solo dev in all fairness he's still using a very-well supported and popular engine (for better or worse) that cuts oodles of work for him plus he's been developing this game for a while... he was always able to go at his own pace.
So I suspect there's more to the story, but who knows.
