Simply go on a 2nd date once you reach level 6 with the girl before going to the tropical island. Luth in particular needs to be level 7 before moving to zone 2. IE before heading to Fernia, Dir-Klou and Necrosia.
It seems some H-scenes for Vex's side event and (secondary girl?) Ellie side event, anyone got them?

You know, maybe the next update isn't so bad. A bit of filler to add more girls and the promised of 2 Siann fox girls before an epic battle against Wellion will be a nice build up.
These devs are slow, but do finish their games. Space Paws similarly took years to finish, but they were very forthcoming the entire time about progress, when it would be done, and it was eventually out. They don't update as frequently as some other games, but I've never seen a reason to doubt they'll finish it.
