The last several updates have been late, so I don't see the issue, a couple of extra days won't hurt anyone, or recruit an extra proofreader or two.

Yes, but it was announced a week before. He was probably sure, he can manage it. And he was right. Two proofreader are just a waste of resources, that's probably the shortest part of developing. It can be done shortly, it depends how many time the proofreader has time. It isn't optimal how this was managed, but here we are.

First, as the dev isn't one of those who's chosen to participate on F95, he wouldn't necessarily know how it works.

Second, though it might be the best, F95 is probably not the only pirate site in the world, and they may not all operate on the same principles.

Third, a person who shares a dev's own link may choose to do so in a forum directly, leaving other forum followers the option to jump on immediately, or patiently wait for a clean link. And, not everyone has the greatest impulse control here on the Internet.

And, finally, the dev's comment is almost certainly aimed at the supporter leaking the links, not at the pirate forum.
