I'm not quite sure if we're the best target for this.I miss Patreon when it was just out. Games were reasonable member $1 or $2 so many people could afford to subscribe and support artist and they could support many games or that which they like.
Now you have nothing but Greedy Developers.
$5/month and you don't get everything and game will take at least couple years to get released so by the time it's over with you paid about $120 for a mediocre game. Now double that and it's $240 for the same game. Than they wonder why they don't get any subscribers it's because your charging more than a damn premium game! AAA game 2 years development price typically going to be around $60 total.
If developers would stop being greedy and start doing low paying tiers and you got a good game your going to make more money by having more subscribers. Also they did not milk money by doing a remake and not continuing the story making it even worst now. So yeah it's hard for anyone to trust most Patreon's anymore.
Even if I like a game I am not going to subscribe for a $1 or $2 now because you get NOTHING for it. You still get the game at the same time the public does. This again just discourages anyone to donate. I am only subscribed through 3 games and updates are not too slow and I can chat with developers in Discord without being attacked.
- There is no $1 tier because at that point Visa and Patreon take 30-50% of the cash paid in fees.Even if I like a game I am not going to subscribe for a $1 or $2 now because you get NOTHING for it.
- We give out a Steam key at ~$12 lifetime support (so $6 for 2 months, or $3 for 4 months or whatever).$5/month and you don't get everything and game will take at least couple years to get released so by the time it's over with you paid about $120 for a mediocre game.
- We do have a Discord (everyone's welcome):I am only subscribed through 3 games and updates are not too slow and I can chat with developers in Discord without being attacked.
Well, now you have my axe.We have one of those, and she's awesome
That certainly puts a lot of front facing Patreon numbers in a different light. There is no $1 tier because at that point Visa and Patreon take 30-50% of the cash paid in fees.
Honestly, the "Recently Released Games" have become so flooded with new releases that it's of limited use. You get a little more visibility for ~3-4 hrs, and then you're on to the next page under the swarm of AI Art games that update exactly every 2 weeks (which is the limit for how often they'll promote a game to the top of that list). Better to just watch the threads that you like.I lurk on this site daily and keep an eye on the released games. However, Sinner's landing passed me by completely. I only learned about this game's existence from an ad in Paradise Lust, which I found due to its frequent updates. This game doesn't find itself on the front-page often, like Paradise Lust did, and I'd wager the problem is that the game gets lost in the stream of game updates and then no one ever finds it when it's gone past page 2, which would explain the low level of activity here.
This was mostly a post WHY Patreon fail anymore because this has become the general consensus of 99% of all games on Patreon anymore. Developers got greedy and ruined it for the majority. Yes I know percentage went up so now a good game should be $2-$3/month at minimum so glad to see you at least got some low alternatives with credit towards the steam game as you pay.I'm not quite sure if we're the best target for this.
- There is no $1 tier because at that point Visa and Patreon take 30-50% of the cash paid in fees.
- Every Patreon gets access to the ~monthly downloads on Patreon (including at $3).
- The last bunch of comments specifically complain that the 'free' version is 0.3.9a, while Patreons have 0.8 (with a bunch of new content)
- We give out a Steam key at ~$12 lifetime support (so $6 for 2 months, or $3 for 4 months or whatever).
- We give out all 3 keys at $20 lifetime support (not per month, total).
- Steam keys give access to not just the complete game, but also regular beta branch updates through the month
- We do have a Discord (everyone's welcome):You must be registered to see the links
- We do significant builds for each of our games every 4-6 weeks. I think we're more or less unmatched among 2D games for that.
- We're doing a total of 6 releases (3 for Paradise Lust 2 and 3 for Sinners Landing) between now and Xmas
I get that a lot of people are frustrated with Patreon models, developers releasing late or failing to complete projects. I would argue that we have a track-record of:
- Developing and releasing at a quick and constant cadence
- Completing games
Correct (the $3 to support development being optional; you'd get all 3 keys at the beginning, but it's nice when people support us .So looking at your tier system I could do a single month at $20 to get all 3 steam keys than go down to a monthly $3/month subscription to help support the development. That would be $56 for all 3 games in a year time which is not bad.
Chase. I don't write Flexible Media games (Kimiru writes Paradise Lust 2, Chase writes Sinners).Droid, fess up, who wrote the Steam/EGS skit?
Hopefully itch.io and patreon mirrors should update on Tuesday, in time for Halloween. Is there a new update? I don't use steam
I have spent way, way, way too much time on that for a porn game... It warms my heart that you appreciate it.You guys actually do a pretty good job at world building for what I figured was just going to be a super goofy game.
